Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity and role of women in community-based household waste management through a zero waste approach. The method used is a participatory approach through education, training, and direct practice involving 20 housewives in Simongan, Semarang City. Over two months, participants received materials on waste sorting, compost making, eco enzyme, ecobrick, and creative products from plastic waste. The results show that 80% of the participants started sorting waste, and 65% utilized it productively. Participants are also actively developing functional products and depositing waste at local waste banks. This activity encourages the formation of study groups and women's participation in environmental forums. In conclusion, an educational and participatory approach is effective in shaping environmentally friendly behavior and promoting economic independence. Similar activities have the potential to be replicated in other regions as a strategy for strengthening women's capacity and sustainable community development.

Abstract

The Sports and Arts Week (Porseni) for Madrasah Aliyah (MA) level in Ponorogo is a biennial event organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Ponorogo Regency to explore and develop students’ talents and creativity in sports and the arts. One of the increasingly popular and evolving competition categories is Graphic Design, which involves the use of visual elements such as typography, illustrations, and color to effectively convey messages. In 2025, MAN 1 Ponorogo was appointed as the host for the district-level Graphic Design competition. This event aims to enhance students’ skills and competitiveness in visual design, while upholding values of sportsmanship and objectivity. However, previous Porseni events have faced challenges related to the evaluation process, including a lack of transparency, subjective judgments, and a mismatch between judges’ backgrounds and the competition field. These issues have led to distrust among participants regarding the final results. To address this, the Porseni committee at MAN 1 Ponorogo has collaborated with lecturers from the Informatics Engineering department who have expertise in graphic design to serve as competition judges. This collaboration is expected to establish a more objective and fair assessment system, aligned with graphic design evaluation criteria, and ultimately improve the quality and integrity of Porseni as a whole.

Abstract

The Community Service Program of Aisyah University Pringsewu was held in Pekon Sinar Baru, Sukoharjo District, Pringsewu Regency, from 2 to 27 December 2024, as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This program aims to provide real contributions in overcoming community problems, one of which is stunting in toddlers. Stunting prevention is carried out through counseling and socialization activities, utilizing educational poster media and PowerPoint presentations, held at the Sinar Baru Village Hall. This activity involved residents from four hamlets and health workers, with a total of 50 participants. This activity was conducted in four stages: preparation, counseling, poster installation, and evaluation. The preparation stage involves preparing educational materials and identifying community nutritional problems. Counseling focused on education about the importance of balanced nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and supplements for pregnant women and toddlers. Educational posters were installed to visually and sustainably strengthen community understanding. Evaluation was conducted by distributing pre-test and post-test questionnaires, as well as participant satisfaction surveys. The results of the activity showed an increase in community knowledge about stunting and family nutrition, with a positive response from participants, including health cadres. This activity succeeded in encouraging collective awareness of the importance of early stunting prevention and strengthening synergy between students, the village government, and the community in efforts to improve the quality of children's health in Pekon Sinar Baru.

Abstract

This article discusses the development of MSME potential in Legok Harendong Village, Bandung Regency, through the use of social media and digital distribution. This area is famous for its honey orange commodities and Arabica and Robusta coffee, which thrive due to the hilly geographical conditions and the dominance of the community as farmers. However, limited infrastructure, digital literacy, and marketing strategies are the main challenges for MSMEs in developing their businesses. This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of MSME actors, particularly Elgeha coffee entrepreneurs, through digital marketing socialization, social media content training (including Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp), and product catalog creation on e-commerce platforms. The approach used is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which is a collaborative approach that actively involves MSME actors in the process of identifying problems, training, and mentoring in digital marketing based on social media. The results show an increase in business knowledge and ability in using digital media for promotion and distribution. In addition, the formation of a coffee lover community is bold, which expands networks and market potential. This program shows that digital transformation at the village MSME level can be an effective strategy in strengthening competitiveness and accelerating local economic growth sustainably.

Abstract

The Physics Learning Workshop based on Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) was carried out to enhance the ability of physics teachers in the MGMP of Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency to foster students’ scientific literacy. The background of this activity is the low achievement of Indonesian students’ scientific literacy as reported by PISA, as well as the tendency of physics learning in schools to focus heavily on memorizing formulas and practicing problems, which makes it less relevant to real-life contexts. Partner teachers also experienced difficulties in designing contextual teaching materials, making an assistance program through an applied workshop necessary. The workshop was conducted in five stages: socialization, training, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. The training materials included strengthening the concept of scientific literacy, introducing the SETS approach, and practicing the development of contextual SETS-based physics teaching modules. Teachers not only received material but were also guided in designing teaching tools that engage students in linking physics concepts with real phenomena in their environment, including local issues such as annual floods and wetland utilization. The evaluation results showed an improvement in teachers’ skills in designing and implementing SETS-based learning that encourages students to be more active, critical, and reflective in understanding physics concepts. More than 80% of teachers expressed satisfaction with the activity, while the implementation of learning practices reached the “good” category. This workshop successfully strengthened the role of teachers as facilitators who are able to cultivate students’ scientific literacy through contextual, innovative, and relevant physics learning in daily life.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to train students' energy literacy through training in the creation of simple STEM-based renewable energy learning media at SMP Negeri 5Indralaya Utara. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR) involving 25 eighth-grade students. The stages of the activity included a preliminary survey, presentation of renewable energy and STEM material, discussion, practice in making simple renewable energy media, group presentations, pre-test, and post-tests of energy literacy. The instruments used were multiple-choice tests and observation sheets of student activities. The results of the analysis showed an average N-Gain value of 0.71 in the high category, indicating that the training was effective in improving students' energy literacy. In addition, the activity developed students' collaboration, communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills through project activities and group presentations.
