Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) play a strategic role in shaping the character and discipline of their students, serving not only as centers of religious knowledge but also as centers of moral and ethical development. However, at the Raudlatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, this development faces challenges such as a lack of student awareness, weak disciplinary controls, and external influences, particularly in the digital age. To address these challenges, community mentoring has been identified as an appropriate solution. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the community mentoring program in improving character development and discipline among students at the Raudlatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. The research also identifies challenges faced and strategies for program optimization. Through holistic mentoring involving various parties, it is hoped that there will be significant improvements in students' morals, independence, responsibility, and time management, as well as the creation of strong collaboration between the Islamic boarding school and the community. A conducive educational environment is also expected to equip students with life skills and psychological well-being, preparing them to become responsible individuals who contribute to society.

Abstract

This Student Creativity Program – Community Service (PKM-KM) aims to improve the ability to read the Qur'an with tartil and to introduce the basics of recitation to Grade 6A students at SDN Sukun 3 Malang City. The background of this activity stems from the low proficiency of students in reading the Qur'an correctly in accordance with tajwid rules. This issue is caused by limited practice intensity, a lack of diverse teaching methods, and insufficient time allocation in Islamic Religious Education classes. The activity was conducted over three days using an educational and participatory approach, which included theoretical delivery of material, Qur'anic reading practice using the talaqqi and simaan methods, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. This program not only enhances students' cognitive and technical skills but also fosters their love for the Qur'an and helps them develop a regular reading habit. Furthermore, the activity received positive support from teachers and the school as part of their efforts to strengthen character-based religious education. It is hoped that this program can be replicated in other elementary schools as a tangible contribution to nurturing a Qur'anic generation from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies used by teachers in addressing differences in students’ learning abilities at Madrasah Diniyah Al-Barokah. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, using observation and interview methods. The findings indicate that teachers implement integrated classical learning strategies, form study groups, and use emotional and motivational approaches to adapt to students’ conditions. However, several challenges were identified, such as the limited activeness of Madin teachers, students’ divided focus between formal and diniyah schooling, ineffective evening study time due to non-resident teachers, and physical and mental fatigue resulting from a tight activity schedule. These findings suggest that successful learning is not only determined by the method used, but also by the teacher's sensitivity in understanding the students’ overall condition.
