Abstract

Background: Drug abuse remains a major public health issue affecting physical, psychological, social, economic, and security aspects of society. The increasing prevalence of illicit drug use, particularly among young adults and productive-age populations, requires comprehensive prevention and control strategies. Drug control should not rely solely on law enforcement but should also integrate health promotion, prevention, rehabilitation, and human-centered approaches. Objective: This review aims to analyze promotive and preventive strategies in combating drug abuse while examining the effectiveness of repressive and humane approaches based on current scientific evidence. Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted using publications retrieved from PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Garuda. Articles published between 2020 and 2025 in Indonesian and English discussing health promotion, prevention, rehabilitation, harm reduction, and law enforcement related to drug abuse were included. Results: Health promotion through education, public awareness campaigns, community empowerment, and family resilience improves knowledge and regarding attitudes towards drug abuse. Preventive strategies including early detection, school-based interventions, environmental monitoring, and multisector collaboration effectively reduce risk factors. Repressive approaches remain essential for combating illicit drug trafficking, whereas rehabilitation and harm reduction provide significant benefits for individuals experiencing substance dependence. Conclusion: Effective drug control requires integrated promotive, preventive, repressive, and rehabilitative strategies. Public health and human rights-based approaches offer more sustainable outcomes in reducing drug abuse and improving the quality of life of affected individuals

Abstract

Accurate hospital reporting depends on consistency between source medical-record data and compiled statistical reports. During implementation of the Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health report (Penyakit Tidak Menular dan Kesehatan Jiwa; PTMKJ), discrepancies were identified between reported cardiac-case visits and the corresponding medical-record data at Santosa Hospital Bandung Central. This study aimed to analyze the conformity of cardiac patient visit data in PTMKJ reports with medical-record data during the first quarter of 2026 and to identify factors associated with discrepancies based on observations in the Medical Records Unit. A descriptive quantitative design was used. The study applied total sampling to all recorded visits for coronary heart disease and heart failure during the study period. Data were collected through document review by comparing PTMKJ reports with medical-record visit data and were processed using Microsoft Excel to calculate differences and conformity percentages. A total of 5,510 medical-record visits were analyzed. Overall data conformity reached 95.11%, while non-conformity was 4.89%. Monthly conformity was 94.49% in January, 98.92% in February, and 91.60% in March. Observations indicated that discrepancies were associated with delays in diagnosis coding, a high volume of patient visits relative to available coding staff, data-extraction timing, recapitulation processes, and subsequent data updates. Strengthening verification, coordination, and timely completion of diagnosis coding is therefore necessary to improve PTMKJ reporting quality.

Abstract

Background : Primigravida women often experience anxiety and have limited experience in preparing for childbirth . Pregnancy applications can serve as accessible , interactive , and continuous educational media to improve maternal knowledge and childbirth preparedness . Objective : To analyze the effect of pregnancy application use on childbirth preparedness among primigravida pregnant women . Methods : This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach . The sample consisted of 60 primigravida pregnant women divided into intervention and control groups , with 30 respondents in each group . The intervention group received pregnancy education through a mobile application for four weeks , while the control group received routine antenatal care . Childbirth preparedness was measured using a questionnaire covering physical and psychological preparation , knowledge of danger signs , selection of delivery place , transportation , birth companion , financial preparation , and delivery equipment . Data were analyzed using paired and independent t- tests or alternative tests according to data distribution . Results : Before the intervention , most respondents in both groups had moderate childbirth preparedness . After using the application , the mean preparedness score in the intervention group increased from 62.40 to 84.70, while the control group increased from 63.10 to 69.20. The analysis showed a significant difference in score improvement between the intervention and control groups , with p<0.001. Conclusion : Pregnancy application use significantly improves childbirth preparedness among primigravida pregnant women . Pregnancy applications can be integrated into antenatal care as a support educational medium to strengthen childbirth preparation and monitoring

Abstract

Drug abuse is a health problem that can have a wide-ranging impact on the lives of adolescents, both physically and psychosocially. Adolescence is a crucial period in development, as biological, cognitive, emotional, and social changes occur that can influence health behaviors into adulthood. A good understanding of the impacts of drug abuse is expected to be a supporting factor in efforts to prevent drug abuse in adolescents. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of adolescents about the impact of drug abuse on physical and psychosocial health. The study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach . The sample consisted of 100 adolescents selected using a purposive sampling technique . Data collection was conducted using a knowledge questionnaire consisting of 25 questions regarding the definition of drugs, risk factors, impacts on physical health, psychological impacts, and social impacts. Data were analyzed univariately using frequency distribution and percentages. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge (63 respondents), while 27 respondents (27%) had sufficient knowledge and 10 respondents (10%) had insufficient knowledge. Regarding physical health impacts, 68% of respondents had good knowledge. Regarding psychosocial impacts, 59% of respondents had good knowledge. These results indicate that while most adolescents have good knowledge, some still need more information about the impacts of drugs, particularly the psychosocial aspects. Continuous health education through schools, families, health workers, and the community is necessary as part of efforts to prevent drug abuse among adolescents
