This study aimed to analyze the relationship between patient motivation and self-care among individuals with self-care deficit in Balee Mawar Ward, Aceh Mental Hospital, in 2023. A quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. A total sampling technique was used involving 35 respondents. Motivation and self-care were measured using validated Guttman-scale observation instruments. Results revealed that 60.0% of patients had high motivation, whereas 51.4% demonstrated poor self-care. Chi-square analysis indicated a significant relationship between motivation and self-care (p = 0.000). Positive reinforcement through praise and rewards contributed to improved cleanliness and independence. These findings highlight the importance of motivation-focused nursing interventions to enhance self-care among psychiatric patients

Abstract

Noise is one of the physical environmental factors that can have negative impacts on comfort and occupational health. The Zamhur Batoh Gas Station (SPBU Zamhur Batoh) in Banda Aceh, located on the city’s main traffic route, has a high potential for noise exposure due to vehicle traffic and fuel dispensing operations. This study aims to analyze the effects of noise intensity, types of noise, and duration of noise exposure on work comfort among employees at SPBU Zamhur Batoh Banda Aceh in 2025 Methods: This study employed a descriptive analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all 20 employees of SPBU Zamhur Batoh Banda Aceh, who were also taken as the study sample. Noise intensity data were collected through measurements using a Sound Level Meter (SLM) at five measurement points during five different time sessions on both workdays and holidays. Data on types of noise, duration of exposure, and work comfort were obtained through questionnaires. Results: The results showed that 45% of respondents worked under noise intensity levels exceeding the Threshold Limit Value (TLV) of >85 dBA, and all respondents in this category reported experiencing discomfort at work. The dominant types of noise were intermittent noise (45%), impulsive noise (20%), repetitive impulsive noise (10%), and continuous noise (25%). A total of 80% of respondents were exposed to noise for more than 40 hours per week, and 87.5% of them reported discomfort during work. Conclusion: Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between noise intensity (p=0.038) and duration of exposure (p=0.032) with work comfort, while no significant relationship was found between types of noise and work comfort (p=0.551).

Abstract

Emergency services are a high-risk area for errors due to time pressure, high workloads, and case complexity that require effective team coordination. One of the main factors contributing to errors in emergency procedures is communication failure among healthcare workers. Closed-loop communication is a structured communication method that emphasizes clear message delivery, repetition by the recipient, and reconfirmation by the person giving the order to ensure the message is understood correctly. This study aims to analyze the effect of closed-loop communication on reducing errors in emergency procedures in the Emergency Department of Bina Kasih General Hospital, Medan. This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted in September 2025 with 20 healthcare workers directly involved in emergency services. Sampling was carried out using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through observation sheets and structured questionnaires, then analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that respondents with good implementation of closed-loop communication experienced a lower level of errors compared to respondents with poor implementation of closed-loop communication. The statistical test results showed a p-value of 0.012, indicating a significant effect between the implementation of closed-loop communication and the reduction in emergency procedure errors. This study concluded that the implementation of closed-loop communication plays a significant role in improving patient safety and reducing the risk of procedure errors in emergency services.

Abstract

Nurses are one of the health professions that are highly vulnerable to violence in the workplace. Violence against nurses, whether physical or non-physical/psychological, can have a negative impact on the quality of work and nursing services. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the career level of clinical nurses and workplace violence, including physical violence and psychological violence against nurses at the Aceh Provincial Hospital. This study is quantitative a cross-sectional study design. The research employed a total sampling approach with 127 respondents meeting the inclusion criteria. Data on violence were collected using the Workplace Violence in the Health Sector (WPVHS) questionnaire, while career-level variables were collected from demographic data. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and the chi-square test. The results showed that the career level variable was not related to physical violence, but it was related to psychological/non-physical violence, with a p-value of 0.000. Based on the research results, it was proven that nurses are highly susceptible to violence in the workplace. Low career level is a predictor of violence. Violence can reduce nurse performance, increase turnover, anxiety, work stress, depression, sleep disorders, high fatigue levels, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), physical injury, and death

Abstract

Acupuncture is a traditional medicine globally recognized as a complementary therapy for promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative efforts. In Indonesia, including Aceh, this therapy is beginning to be utilized as an alternative or complementary to modern medical treatment. However, utilization rates vary due to the influence of knowledge, health facilities, and the therapist's professional, friendly, and empathetic attitude, which significantly influence patients' decisions to utilize services. Although interest in acupuncture in Aceh is increasing, utilization rates remain relatively low. The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with acupuncture therapy utilization by patients at the Aceh Patient Care Foundation Acupuncture Clinic in Banda Aceh City in 2025, based on knowledge, health facilities, and the attitudes/behaviors of the acupuncturists. Methods: This study was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The sample size for this study was 99 individuals using the convenience sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods using the chi-square test. Results: The study showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and the use of acupuncture therapy with a p-value of 0.002 (p<0.05). There was a relationship between health facilities and the use of acupuncture therapy with a p-value of 0.006 (p<0.05). There was a relationship between the attitude/behavior of acupuncture therapists and the use of acupuncture therapy with a p-value of 0.002 (p<0.05). Conclusion: There was a relationship between knowledge, health facilities and the attitude/behavior of acupuncture therapists and the use of acupuncture therapy.
