Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Human Resource Analytics (HRA) in strategic decision-making in modern education management and its implications for the effectiveness of educational human resource governance. Digital transformation and the increasing complexity of managing educational institutions require educational organizations to adopt a data-driven approach in decision-making, especially in the aspects of managing educators and education personnel. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research design. Data was collected through documentation techniques against various relevant scientific literature sources, including journal articles, academic books, proceedings, and research documents related to Human Resource Analytics, strategic human resource management, and modern education management. Data analysis is carried out using qualitative content analysis through the process of reduction, categorization, interpretation, and systematic data synthesis. The results of the study show that Human Resource Analytics plays a strategic instrument in improving the quality of managerial decision-making through the provision of empirical data that supports workforce planning, talent development, performance evaluation, and the formulation of more objective and predictive human resource policies. The implementation of HRA also contributes to improving the efficiency of human resource management, governance transparency, policy accountability, and the adaptive capacity of educational organizations in dealing with changes in the strategic environment. Theoretically, this study strengthens the integration between strategic human resource management approaches and evidence-based educational management in the context of modern education. Practically, this study emphasizes the importance of digital infrastructure readiness, data-driven organizational culture, and the analytical competence of education leaders in supporting the effective implementation of HRA. The findings of the study confirm that Human Resource Analytics is a strategic foundation in the development of an adaptive, professional, and data-based education management system. This study contributes that HRA allows educational institutions to measure the effectiveness of training and professional development programs empirically, so that organizational investment in human resource development can be carried out more efficiently and impactfully.

Abstract

The growing demand for quality higher education in developing countries has placed private higher education institutions (PHEIs) under increasing pressure to build and sustain competitive advantage. Yet, how internal strategic capabilities collectively shape long-term competitiveness in these institutions remains insufficiently explored. This study investigates the influence of research capacity and marketing capability on sustainable competitive advantage among PHEIs in Indonesia, with strategic agility serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative explanatory design was adopted, drawing on survey data from 318 institutional leaders and analyzed through PLS-SEM. The findings reveal that both research capacity (β = 0.509, p < 0.001) and marketing capability (β = 0.455, p < 0.001) exert positive and significant direct effects on sustainable competitive advantage. However, strategic agility exhibits a significant negative direct effect (β = –0.367, p < 0.001), suggesting that excessive short-term responsiveness may undermine institutional stability. The mediation analysis indicates that strategic agility positively mediates the relationship between research capacity and competitive advantage, but negatively mediates the marketing capability–competitive advantage path. These findings contribute to the resource-based view and dynamic capabilities literature by demonstrating the nuanced role of strategic agility in higher education settings, offering practical guidance for PHEI leaders seeking to balance adaptability with long-term institutional coherence. The study extends the marketing capability literature by showing where market sensing strength becomes self-defeating, and offers PHEI leaders a clearer rule: deploy marketing capability for direct positioning, but moderate the speed and frequency of the strategic shifts it triggers.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the human resource management of local government officials at the sub-district level, focusing on their capacity and competency, using the Human Capital Theory perspective. The delegation of some of the Regional Government's authority to sub-districts is intended to accelerate public service, so that the readiness of the capacity and competency of sub-district officials is very important and strategic in implementing the delegated authority. This study uses a mixed methods method by combining qualitative and quantitative data. The collected data is analyzed descriptively to gain a deep understanding and identify patterns and practices carried out by officials in improving their competence. The results show that in general, sub-district officials have a good level of competence. In terms of technical competence, the level of information technology adoption is relatively high (80.2%), but there is still a skills gap in mastering digital administration systems. In terms of managerial competence, officials demonstrate a high level of responsiveness and speed of decision-making (97.9%), as well as quite effective coordination and team-building skills. Meanwhile, ethical competence is reflected in high levels of trust in organizational policies (97.9%) and conducive working relationships. Education, training, and work experience have been shown to significantly influence the improvement of civil servant competence. This study supports the Human Capital Theory in the public sector by showing that sub-district apparatus' technical, managerial, and ethical competencies support decentralized governance and local government public service delivery.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate organizational support as a boundary condition regulating the performance-related effects of transformational leadership, human capital, and effective collaboration among university lecturers in East Java Province, Indonesia. Grounded in the theoretical integration of Job Demands-Resources Theory and Social Exchange Theory, a quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with 257 lecturers from both public and private institutions. Hypotheses were tested using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS. The findings confirm that all four direct effects transformational leadership, effective collaboration, organizational support, and human capital have significant positive effects on lecturer performance. Notably, organizational support significantly moderates the transformational leadership–performance relationship. Simple slope analysis revealed that the leadership effects transition from negligible under low institutional support to dominant under high support, indicating an approximately eight-fold difference in performance return per unit of leadership investment. Moderation through human capital and effective collaboration was not supported. This study contributes by reframing organizational support from a performance antecedent to a structural amplifier. It offers a theoretically grounded solution to the contextual inconsistencies documented in the higher education leadership literature and provides evidence-based guidance for integrated faculty performance management strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) as a mediating variable in the relationship between CEO tenure and CEO education level on company value in companies listed on the IDX for the 2019–2024 period. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory design and PLS-SEM analysis to test the direct and indirect effects. The results show that CEO tenure has a significant effect on company value, while CEO education level, the effect of CEO tenure on ESG, and the effect of ESG on company value are not statistically significant. Furthermore, ESG is not proven to mediate the relationship between CEO tenure and CEO education level on company value. These findings indicate that CEO leadership quality does not always automatically result in stable ESG practices and impact company value, so the ESG linkage mechanism needs further study. This study contributes to the literature by examining the relationship between CEO characteristics and firm value through the mediating mechanism of ESG in an emerging market, particularly Indonesia. The findings challenge conventional assumptions in upper echelons theory and stakeholder theory, revealing that CEO leadership quality does not automatically translate into consistent ESG practices, and that the mediating role of ESG is not supported.

Abstract

This study investigates the determinants of Indonesia’s halal food export performance by focusing on destination-country characteristics and trade policy factors. This study employed a quantitative explanatory approach using balanced panel data from ten major destination countries of Indonesian halal food exports during the 2015–2024 period. Using balanced panel data from ten major destination countries over the period 2015–2024, the analysis employs panel data regression to examine the effects of Gross Domestic Product, population size, the proportion of Muslim population, and import tariffs on export performance. Model selection procedures indicate that the Fixed Effect Model is the most appropriate specification, allowing the analysis to control for unobserved country-specific characteristics that remain constant over time. The empirical findings show that Gross Domestic Product, population size, and the proportion of Muslim population in destination countries have positive and statistically significant effects on Indonesia’s halal food exports, suggesting that economic capacity, market scale, and preference compatibility jointly shape effective export demand. In contrast, import tariffs exhibit a negative and significant effect, confirming that higher trade barriers reduce export competitiveness and limit market access. Overall, the results indicate that Indonesia’s halal food export performance is determined by a combination of economic, demographic, and policy-related factors in destination markets. These findings provide empirical support for export strategies that prioritize economically strong markets while addressing tariff-related barriers to enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global halal food industry. This study contributes to the halal trade literature by providing empirical evidence on the economic, demographic, and tariff-related determinants of Indonesia’s halal food export performance.

Abstract

This study examines the low contribution of seaweed development to the welfare of coastal households, which has long been export-oriented and focused on raw material production with limited added value. This condition has meant that seaweed has yet to deliver a significant impact on income stability, food security, and nutritional quality. This study aims to analyze how seaweed-based economic transformation can improve household welfare through the linkages between economic, food, and nutrition systems. The study uses household survey data from coastal areas of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, employing a structural econometric model approach to examine the direct and indirect relationships between value-added processing, technology access, market integration, income stability, food security, consumption diversity, and nutritional status. The findings indicate that seaweed-based economic transformation can significantly improve welfare when supported by value-added product development, technology utilization, and broader market access. Income stability and market integration serve as the primary mechanisms linking economic activity to improvements in food security and nutritional quality. The study concludes that seaweed needs to be positioned as a strategic instrument for inclusive and sustainable coastal development, rather than merely an export commodity. These findings provide an empirical basis for formulating policies that integrate marine economic transformation with food and nutrition security. This study contributes the literature on coastal development and the blue economy by providing an integrated analytical framework that links seaweed-based economic transformation with food security, nutritional outcomes, and human resource development at the household level, extending existing research beyond commodity- and export-oriented perspectives.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of demographic and socio-cultural characteristics on social media algorithm understanding among creative industry actors in the Visual Communication Design (VCD) subsector in Denpasar City. Using a quantitative survey approach with 107 respondents selected via purposive sampling from a population of 342 individuals, the study employed Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) for data analysis. Four independent variables were examined: Generational Cohort (X1), Social Lifestyle (X2), Digital Lifestyle (X3), and Socio-Cultural Environmental Factors (X4), with Social Media Algorithm Mastery (Y) as the dependent variable. Results indicate that the model explains 76.2% of the variance in algorithm mastery (Adjusted R² = 0.762). Hypothesis testing revealed that Digital Lifestyle (t = 2.780; p = 0.005) and Socio-Cultural Environmental Factors (t = 3.342; p = 0.001) have positive and significant effects on Social Media Algorithm Mastery, while Generational Cohort (t = 2.687; p = 0.007) shows a negative and significant effect. Social Lifestyle, however, did not show a significant effect (t = 1.445; p = 0.149). These findings suggest that generational differences, digital activity intensity, and a supportive socio-cultural environment are key determinants of algorithmic mastery among creative entrepreneurs, providing both theoretical contributions to the digital marketing literature and practical implications for enhancing digital capacity in the creative industry sector. This study contributes to the creative economy and digital business literature by demonstrating that socio-cultural environment and digital lifestyle are important determinants of algorithmic capability among creative entrepreneurs in emerging urban economies.
