Abstract

This taro chopper machine will work when the electric motor is turned on it will rotate then the rotary motion of the machine is transmitted to the pulley by using a v-belt to move the shaft, the disk where the knife will rotate and the taro is ready to be chopped. After the taro is chopped it will come out through the funnel. So far, industry or industrial machinery products have shown very rapid capabilities, both in terms of volume and in terms of the variety of products produced. Product development is not only marked by the fulfillment of public interest in industrial products, both small and large scale but also leads to exports which will increase foreign exchange for the Indonesian state. There are many agricultural communities, one of which is taro because the season is suitable for the territory of Indonesia. With the development of appropriate technological advances, technological tools can be found that can process agricultural products, so thoughts are made on how to increase and ease work or process crops or process taro products to increase selling prices even better. The general aim of the research is to facilitate the slicing of taro for chip entrepreneurs, especially taro chips, and it can also be operated for cutting or slicing such as tempeh, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc. The specific purpose for making this tool is to know the capacity of the taro chopper, to know the components that exist in the taro chopper, and to analyze the results of the taro chopper. From the manufacture of the tool, it can be concluded that this taro chopper is operated semi-automatically using an electric motor. This machine chopping method is a single chopper with 1 type of knife that cuts the taro continuously. This taro chopper machine design requires power from an electric motor of HP. The effective capacity of the tool obtained by the taro chopper machine is 33.3 gr/s.

Abstract

Where wind is used at speeds of 3,4,5 and 6 m/s .Blade type with pine wood material,with Naca 4412,blade Naca 4412 with 70% epoxsy resin + 30 % glass fiber,Naca blade 4412 with 70% epoxsy resin + 18% glass fiber + 12% coconut fiber,Naca blade 4712 with 70% epoxsy resin+ 18% glass fiber + 12% coconut fiber and Naca 5513 blade with 70% epoxsy resin+ 18% glass fiber+ 12% coconut fiber.Blade type epoxsy resin+ fiber glass + coir Naca 4412 blade has the highest rotation compared to other blade types that have been in the test.Where the generator rotation at awind speed of 3 m/s generator rotation has been calculated to reach an average of 545.29 rpm,a wind speed of 4 m/s generator rotation is 708.9 rpm,and at a wind speed of 5 m/s the generator rotation is 928.94 rpm, and at wind speed of 6 m/s the generator rotates at 928.94 rpm.

Abstract

Jalan Soekarno Hatta is a secondary collector road with 4 lanes 2 directions divided (4/2 D) as the main road to the trading center of the City of Bukittinggi. Based on the initial observations made, it can be seen that vehicles passing through this road are quite busy, and there are often traffic jams caused by the area being a market area and a shopping center which does not have sufficient parking space so that parking activities use a lot of the road body which causes narrowing. effective road width. The purpose of this research is to find out and analyze the performance of Jalan Soekarno Hatta in terms of traffic volume, capacity and level of service (LOS). While the method used is the 1997 MKJI method by collecting primary data, in the form of road geometric data, traffic volume and side barriers obtained directly at the research location, and secondary data, in the form of population data. Based on the research results, it was obtained that the maximum traffic volume occurred on the main survey, namely on Wednesday for both directions of 518.25 pcu/hour and 522.25 pcu/hour at 11.30 to 12.30 WIB and 11.00 to 12.00 WIB. As for the capacity, the same was obtained at 1148.82 pcu/hour for both directions. Then also the average top speed on the Soekarno Hatta Road section, namely motorbikes with a speed of 20.08 Km/hour in the direction of Janjang 40- Bypass and in the opposite direction from Bypass- Janjang 40 the highest speed is also motorbikes with a speed of 20.20 Km/hour. The side barriers on Jalan Soekarno Hatta are included in the very high side resistance (VH) class category. And in terms of the level of service, Jalan Soekarno Hatta is included in category C where for the classification of the road the flow is fairly smooth, the speed is still controlled, the V/C can still be tolerated. The recommended recommendation is to control the parking area for motorbike riders and provide a special place for city transport cars (angkot) to wait for passengers and install signs that prohibit stopping and signs prohibiting parking.

Abstract

Paving block is a building material made from a mixture of cement, sand and water. Paving blocks are widely used in construction, such as sidewalks, highways, parking lots, parks and so on. Ease of installation, cheap maintenance and fulfilling the aesthetic aspects make paving blocks more popular. Along with the many uses of paving blocks in the community, the quality of paving blocks must be improved. Paving block printing uses a multi block machine. The multi block machine is a mass paving block printing machine with hydraulic power. The mold used in this study was rectangular with a size of 21 cm x 10.5 cm x 8 cm. The variation of the mixture used in this study is 1 cement: 1 filler: 3 mediums, 1 cement: 3 fillers: 1 medium, and 1 cement: 3 fillers. With each mixture having 4 samples and the age of the compressive strength test is 28 days. The average compressive strength of paving blocks at the age of 28 days with a mixture composition of 1:1:3 (1 cement: 1 filler: 3 medium) was 194.73 Kg/cm2. For paving blocks with a mixture composition of 1:3:1 (1 cement: 3 fillers: 1 medium) obtained 190.37 Kg/cm2. Meanwhile, paving blocks with a mixture composition of 1:3 (1 cement: 3 filler) were obtained at 217.76 Kg/cm2. Of the 3 variations of the mixture composition tested, the 1:3 mixture composition had the highest compressive strength with a value of 217.76 Kg/cm2. The results of the examination of porosity or water absorption on average obtained the following results. For the 1:1:3 mixture composition, the average water absorption value is 1.30%. For a 1:3:1 mixture composition, the average water absorption value is 1.21%. As for the composition of the 1:3 mixture, the average water absorption value is 1.27%. Thus, all variations of the paving block mixture have met the water absorption limit for paving blocks with quality B in SNI-03-0691-1996, which is a maximum of 6%.

Abstract

The industrial world optimizes time, labor and process efficiency in producing goods. The application of automation technology is expected to increase the amount of production quickly and precisely. One of the technologies used is Smart relay. In this study using the Zelio Soft2 PLC smart relay software which is used to design and simulate the ball packing automation process. There are two programming languages ​​provided by Zelio Soft2, namely ladder diagrams (LD) and function block diagrams (FBD). The ladder diagram is designed to simulate the ongoing process step by step, while the FBD shows the type and block diagram used in the process. The designed system utilizes push buttons (on/off), box sensors, tennis ball sensors and driving motors. The results showed that the program simulation worked as planned.

Abstract

Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) is one of the liquid welding processes (fusion welding) that produces a homogeneous fusion of the electrode with the base metal (base metal), which is caused by an electric arc that generates high heat to melt the electrode and base metal (base metal). simultaneously and protected by a shielding gas from the chemical reaction of the electrode flux. The depth of fusion formed is determined by the heat input, the electrode angle and the welding direction. The research was conducted at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of the Padang Institute of Technology. The base metal used is low carbon steel ST 37 with a thickness of 10 mm and a length of 100 mm. width 100mm. Welding is carried out on the surface of the base metal in the flat position, the type of connection (weld type) is a surfacing weld with 4 welding lines, each strip having a distance of 20 mm. Weld length 100mm. AWS E 6013 electrode specifications with a diameter of 3.2 mm. SMAW welding machine AC current with a voltage of 30 V. current 85 A. The measured electrode angle between the electrode and the welding line is 750, 850, 900. The backward welding direction where the electrode draws the welding fluid into the welding path and the normal arc height where the distance between the electrode and the base metal is equal to the diameter of the electrode. From the welding results, a penetration presentation will be obtained, namely the ratio of the depth of fusion to the width.  The research results obtained welding speed: 2.48 mm/s for electrode angle 750, 2.49 mm/s for electrode angle 850 and 2.51 mm/s for electrode angle 90. Heat input for electrode angle 750 is 1015.93 J/ mm, the heat input for the electrode angle 850 is 1024.20 J/mm and the heat input for the electrode angle 900 is 1015.93 J/mm. From the comparison of the width with the depth of fusion, it is obtained; The electrode angle 85 has a penetration presentation of 9.85%, which is better in height than the electrode angle 750, which has a penetration presentation of 8.43%, and the electrode angle 900 has a penetration presentation of 8.35%.

Abstract

Making a tool that can help cut natural fiber composite raw materials (pineapple fiber) automatically, can increase efficiency and make it easier to cut, both in terms of speed, power, amount of production, to the safety factor of the cutting machine. The results of the test show that using a pneumatic system pineapple fiber cutting tool can cut fibers quickly to meet the need for pineapple fiber as a raw material for composite materials and also avoid situations where when cutting fibers manually you will feel tired because performance decreases and it greatly affects safety level that can be dangerous in the cutting process. The difference in pressure applied to the system varies by 2, 3, 4, 5 bar with varying cutting results, namely 61, 100, 113, and 150 cuts every 60 seconds. This pneumatic system pineapple fiber cutter is capable of cutting in 0.41 seconds with an air pressure of 5 bar.

Abstract

Hydram pump is the machine that conversion potential energy (PE = mgh) of water to kinetic energy (KE = ½ mv2) in intake pipe become water hammer in casing of hydram pump. That has capability to raised water from the pump with vertical elevation H2 = + 50 m to 500 m. It needs the minimal elevation + 1 m, the minimal debit 7 litres/minute and it depends on diameter and pump type. The principal of its construction has length of intake pipe L = 5 to 10 x H1 (vertical fall).

Abstract

As a result of a decrease in the mass flow rate at the inlet section of a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) cooling system, the refrigerant flow system performs poorly. To increase efficiency the steam injection cycle method is used. The effects of steam injection are theoretically explored in this study over a wide range of medium pressures and ambient temperatures, and the findings are supported by experimental data. Compressor heating capacity, input power, coefficient of performance (COP), and isentropic efficiency are all affected by pressure. At low ambient temperatures, the increase in COP by steam injection is remarkable. In this study, the performance of the cooling system with the injection cycle was evaluated, the system with this injection cycle resulted in an increase in cooling capacity of 3.26% and an energy efficiency ratio (EER) of 2.32%.

Abstract

Knowing the battery SoC is important in battery usage, especially in renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, portable electronic devices, and other applications that use batteries as a power source. By knowing the battery SoC, users can manage battery usage, estimate the remaining time before needing to recharge or replace it. The BMS must ensure an efficient way for charging and discharging procedures. In addition, the BMS must maintain the proper SOC so that battery life can be maximized. In this study, a BMS designed for discharging protection on a battery as an energy storage that works to provide electrical energy to an electric load in the form of an electric vehicle, in carrying out its duties the BMS controls the electrical voltage limit to turn off the active switch on the load. The battery used is a Lead-Acid 12 V / 7.2 Ah, the C-rate used to serve the load of the battery discharging process is 0.15 C then the estimated battery capacity in an empty state is 6.4 Ah (SoC = 0%). The results of the study showed that the battery discharged for 6 hours and the cut-off voltage as protection was 10.6 Volts.
