Abstract

The research on the influence of numeracy literacy on students' learning outcomes viewed from their analogical thinking skills aims to: (1) determine whether there is an influence of numeracy literacy skills on learning outcomes, (2) determine whether there is an influence of analogical thinking skills on learning outcomes, and (3) determine whether there is an interaction between numeracy literacy skills and analogical thinking skills. This study employed a quantitative research method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population consisted of 60 students, and the sample comprised 60 students, specifically 30 students from Class VIIA and 30 students from Class VIIB. The research was conducted at SMPN 3 Paron. Sampling was carried out using the cluster sampling technique. Data collection techniques included an analogical thinking test, an algebra material test for the pretest, and an algebra material test incorporating numeracy literacy for the posttest. Data analysis was conducted using two-way ANOVA at a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study are as follows: (1) There is a significant influence of numeracy literacy skills on learning outcomes, with a significance level of 0.005 < 0.05. (2) There is a significant influence of analogical thinking skills on students' learning outcomes, with a significance level of 0.041 < 0.05. (3) There is no significant interaction between students' numeracy literacy skills and their analogical thinking skills, with a significance level of 0.154 > 0.05.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the characteristics of mathematical literacy instruments in geometry and measurement content reviewed from the perspective of item response theory. The type of research used is quantitative description. The study subjects were 235 students in grade VIII of junior high school in Pacitan Regency, with details of 108 male students and 127 female students. Item analysis was carried out using IRT. The calculation uses the R program with the help of the mirt package. The study results showed that the mathematics literacy instruments, geometry content, and measurement characteristics were by the 1 PL model. Furthermore, from 8 question items, 7 items were fit and 1 item was not fit. One item that is not fit is item number 7, so the item must be removed. Mathematical literacy instruments in geometry and measurement content consisted of 14.29% of medium category questions and 85.71% of difficult category questions. The instrument is suitable for measuring students who have abilities ranging from -0.78 to 2.85.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an essential competency in solving contextual problems, and is the focus of curriculum and assessment development. The quality of mathematical literacy instruments still needs to be studied so that they can accurately reflect students’ abilities. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the characteristics of mathematical literacy instruments of junior high school students on algebraic content using the Item Response Theory (IRT) approach. The instrument was developed based on the AKM (Asesmen Kompetensi Minimum) framework, which includes six questions with a personal and scientific context and a cognitive level of knowledge, application, and reasoning. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a trial on 231 students from 14 junior high schools in Pacitan Regency. The analysis used the mirt package in the R software, including model compatibility tests, unidimensionality and local independence, parameter estimation, item compatibility, information function, and marginal reliability. The results show that the 1 Parameter Logistics (1PL) model is the best and meets the assumptions of unidimensionality and local independence. The model declared four of the six questions, with the reliability showing a good category of 0,8625. Based on the information function curve, the instrument effectively measures the ability of learners in the range -0,91 to 2,25. These findings show that four question items are declared feasible for measuring mathematical literacy in algebraic content at the junior high school level, which is reviewed from the perspective of IRT analysis.
