Abstract

Digital literacy is crucial today, especially as artificial intelligence (AI) technology begins to develop. AI technology is widely discussed because it can help to improve efficiency in various fields of activity. The development of AI technology is basically aimed at improving human welfare, but there are disadvantages when AI technology is not used properly, which can harm society. To achieve beneficial outcomes and avoid the harm caused by the misuse of AI technology, it is deemed necessary to provide AI technology training to the community as early as possible. This community service activity provided AI training to students from Strada Santo Thomas Aquino High School, which has a mission that strongly supports the objectives of this training. This training activity began with an introduction to AI technology, which aimed to make students familiar with and understand the features of AI technology so that they are aware of the existence of AI around them. Students were explained how AI works, from database collection to pattern recognition, and were made aware that the use and development of AI technology must be carried out ethically and responsibly. The training method included an explanation of the importance and dangers of AI technology through presentations, discussions, and teamwork using the "Teachable Machine" application. Evaluation of activities was carried out through pretests and posttests as well as student feedback. The results showed an improvement in students' understanding of AI technology after participating in this training. The students were highly satisfied with the AI technology training provided, both in terms of the accuracy of the material explanation, the abilities of the instructors, and the benefits they received.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to support the sustainability of the East Sumba ikat weaving industry through the implementation of a Knowledge Management-based e-Catalog as a means of preserving traditional knowledge while increasing market access. The East Sumba weaving industry faces various challenges, including a lack of documentation of techniques and symbolic meanings of motifs, limited digital literacy among artisans, and low utilization of technology in product marketing. The target of this activity is the weaving artisan community in Patawang Village, East Sumba Regency. The implementation method was carried out in a participatory manner through the stages of problem identification, data collection, design, and implementation of the e-Catalog using SECI (Socialization, Externalization, Combination, and Internalization) approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with senior artisans and traditional leaders, field observations, and documentation of the weaving process, motif philosophy, and history of ikat weaving. Tacit knowledge previously passed down orally was successfully transformed into explicit knowledge in the form of digital content in the form of text, photos, and product catalog structures. The results of the activity show that the e-Catalog functions not only as a promotional medium, but also as a structured documentation system for cultural knowledge. To ensure long-term sustainability, it is recommended that the e-Catalog be continuously developed and updated through active artisan involvement, integrated with digital marketing platforms, and supported by ongoing

Abstract

cultural tourism, such as Tanggedu Waterfall, Walakiri Beach, Wunga Traditional Village, and the Hamba Praing and Mondu tourist villages. However, tourism development in this region still faces various obstacles, particularly limited access to information, minimal digital promotion, and low technology utilization by tourism village managers. This Community Service activity aims to improve the accessibility of information and the attractiveness of tourist villages through the development and mentoring of digital-based tourism village websites. The implementation method is carried out through the website design stage. The activity was carried out over two days in Hamba Praing and Mondu Villages, involving tourism village managers and the local community. The results of the activity showed an increase in partners' understanding of the function of websites as a medium for information, destination promotion, and local product marketing, as well as an increase in managers' readiness to manage digital content. The developed tourism village websites have the potential to support tourism promotion, community economic empowerment, and local cultural preservation. Thus, the integration of digital technology through the tourism village website is a strategic step in supporting the development of sustainable tourism in East Sumba.

Abstract

Bojong Koneng Village, Bogor Regency, has strong natural tourism potential, including Bukit Daolong, Bukit Silala, and Air Terjun Bidadari, which have developed as alternative trekking destinations attracting increasing visitors. Based on the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC), the village is at the Involvement stage, marked by growing visitor numbers and emerging community participation, but without a formally established Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). Tourism management has relied mainly on Karang Taruna. This community service program aimed to strengthen the capacity of Karang Taruna members as prospective Pokdarwis by enhancing their understanding of tourism management, Pokdarwis roles, and medium-term destination development strategies. Conducted on 10 November 2025 with 15 participants, the training applied interactive methods such as discussions, simulations, and pre–post tests. Results showed a 17.59% increase in participants’ knowledge and the successful design of integrated trekking-based tourism packages. The program supports SDGs 8, 11, and 12 and produced a practical management module currently undergoing IPR registration.

Abstract

Southwest Sumba Regency is located in the province of East Nusa Tenggara, part of the Sumba Islands, which are famous for their natural beauty. This area offers a unique combination of stunning landscapes, distinctive cultural richness, and community life that still upholds local traditions. However, behind all that, there are several fundamental problems that still occur in Southwest Sumba Regency, especially stunting. Stunting is the main problem in this location. Stunting is chronic malnutrition in toddlers, which results in stunted growth in both height and weight. One of the factors causing stunting is the lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation. Clean water is very important in maintaining personal hygiene, food, and the environment so that it can prevent various diseases that can inhibit children's growth. The construction of drilled wells is one effective solution to overcome the problem of access to clean water in areas prone to stunting. With the existence of drilled wells, the community will have easier access to clean water so that it can improve the quality of life and health, especially for children. From the identified problems, the solution offered is the procurement of drilled wells with solar-powered pumps (PLTS). Thus, the problem of access to clean water and energy sources to operate the drilled well can be resolved. Then it can be developed in various locations/areas that have not received access to water. The capacity of the drilled well that has been made produces an output of 50 liters/hour. This output has been in accordance with the target of devotion.

Abstract

Tempeh, a traditional Indonesian fermented food, has been acknowledged for its high nutritional value. Besides, production of tempeh can be a potential practice-based educational medium. However, knowledge on tempeh fermentation remains limited, particularly among international participants. This study was aimed to implement a community engagement activity for fermented food education strategy through a tempeh-making workshop and to evaluate the improvement in knowledge and practical skills of international short-course participants. The program was conducted offline using interactive lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice sessions. Evaluation was performed using pre-test and post-test assessments along with direct observation during the activities. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of fermentation processes, microbial roles, and tempeh production stages. In addition, participants demonstrated enhanced practical skills and increased interest in further exploration of fermented foods. The activity also contributed to introducing tempeh as part of Indonesia’s culinary heritage to an international audience. Therefore, the tempeh workshop can serve as an effective educational strategy to enhance fermented food literacy while supporting food-based cultural diplomacy.

Abstract

This initiative implemented an integrated smart hydroponic–aquaponic system on marginal land in Bakalan Village, Bululawang District, Malang Regency, to support local food diversification and strengthen household food security. Although the village has strong agricultural potential, local production is still dominated by sugarcane, while vegetable needs are largely supplied from outside the village. To address this issue, the program developed a compact cultivation model that combines fish farming and hydroponic planting, supported by an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring system using ESP32 and wireless communication. The monitored parameters included total dissolved solids (TDS), water temperature, pH, turbidity, and humidity, and the collected data were stored in a local server that could be accessed through smartphones connected to the same network. The implementation results showed that the system was able to monitor water quality in real time and detect abnormal sensor readings, which were automatically recorded for further evaluation. Validated measurements indicated relatively stable operating conditions, with water temperature ranging from 26.8 to 27.1°C, pH from 7.1 to 7.7, ambient humidity from 76.8% to 78.7%, and TDS from 620 to 637 ppm. These findings suggest that the implementation of a smart hydroponic–aquaponic system can improve the productive use of marginal land, support more precise cultivation management, and contribute to community-based food security efforts.
