Abstract

Munggu Tourism Village in Badung Regency, Bali, represents a paradox in rural tourism development: despite being recognized as a "developed" tourism village with the highest visitor volume in its region, the qualitative level of local community participation remains shallow and reactive. This study aims to analyze the root causes of this condition and formulate a strategic framework to transform the participation model from induced to authentic spontaneous participation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted using a conceptual framework integrating Tosun's (2006) participation typology, Community- Based Tourism (CBT) principles, and the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. The findings indicate that the dominant induced participation is not a reflection of the community's lack of will, but a logical response to a series of interconnected structural barriers: legal uncertainty over business land status, bureaucratic delays in disbursing development funds, and a fundamental mismatch between the village's unique cultural assets and the existing tourist market segment. As a solution, this study proposes a holistic framework focused on the four pillars of CBT: (1) strengthening engagement and ownership through customary-based land dispute resolution; (2) environmental preservation through community-based incentive programs; (3) cultural livelihood development through product diversification into experiential tourism; and (4) equitable economic benefit distribution through community investment schemes and transparent development funds. This framework offers a replicable model for fostering sustainable tourism genuinely rooted in community empowerment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of weeding on the quality and yield of horenso spinach (Spinacia oleracea) cultivated at Agri Center Miyakonojo, Miyazaki, Japan. The research was conducted using two treatments without weeding and with weeding each on a plot of 10,000 m². Observed parameters included leaf color, leaf shape, leaf damage level, total harvest weight, and farm income analysis. The results showed that weeding had a significant positive effect on the quality of horenso spinach leaves. In the weeding treatment, leaf color remained bright green and glossy until the third month, leaf shape was broad and symmetrical, and leaf damage was minimal. Conversely, without weeding, leaf color tended to become dull/yellowish, leaf shape became smaller and uneven, and leaf damage levels were high. In terms of quantity, the weeding treatment yielded a total harvest weight of 240,000 kg (24 kg/m²), while the non-weeding treatment produced only 60,000 kg (6 kg/m²). Economic analysis indicated that the total revenue (TR) for the weeding treatment reached ¥1,320,000,000 with a net income of ¥1,309,673,780, whereas the non-weeding treatment had a TR of ¥330,000,000 with a net income of ¥319,935,780. This study concludes that weeding not only improves the quality and quantity of production but also provides substantial economic benefits. Therefore, weeding is recommended as an essential cultivation practice to enhance horenso spinach farm productivity.

Abstract

Christian leadership based on spiritual values and the word of God, and how to apply them in various contexts, both in the church, organizations, and society. Christian leadership emphasizes a close relationship with God, integrity, a clear vision, and responsibility in carrying out tasks. Based on the example of Jesus Christ, Christian leaders are expected to be able to demonstrate love, sacrifice, and good service to others. In addition, this study also shows that secular leadership, although not always religious, contains universal principles that are in line with Biblical values.

Abstract

This article aims to examine theologically and practically the meaning and implications of Christ's supremacy in the context of evangelism in Indonesia. Christ's supremacy is understood as Christ's absolute sovereignty over all creation, both cosmically, soteriologically, and ecclesiastically, as affirmed in New Testament texts such as Colossians 1:15-20 and Ephesians 1:22. Using a qualitative approach and a literature review method, this article examines the relationship between Christ's supremacy and the socio-religious dynamics of pluralistic Indonesia. Challenges such as intolerance, cultural resistance, and secularism form an important backdrop for considering evangelism strategies. One of the article's main findings is the importance of contextualization as an effort to present Christ relevantly in local cultures without losing the authority of the Gospel. Christ's supremacy is not only a doctrinal foundation but also a strategic direction in the church's mission. Therefore, the church is required to develop a dialogical, inclusive, and transformative evangelism approach that not only conveys the message of salvation but also presents Christ in concrete service to society. This overall study shows that the supremacy of Christ is a solid spiritual and missiological foundation for the Indonesian church in facing the challenges of the times and remaining faithful to the call to evangelism.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the meaning of fear of God in the lives of believers, particularly in the context of the post-pandemic new normal. Fear of God is a central theological concept in the Bible that is often misunderstood as a negative fear. However, in biblical understanding, fear of God reflects an attitude of respect, obedience, and awareness of God's presence and holiness, which encourages people to live in wisdom and integrity. Through a qualitative approach based on literature, this article explores theological understanding of biblical texts, analyzes the dimensions of spirituality born of fear of God, and examines its relevance in facing spiritual, social, and moral challenges in the new normal. Furthermore, this article highlights the crucial role of faith education in shaping Christian character rooted in fear of God. The study's findings indicate that this attitude is not only crucial as a foundation for personal faith but also as a transformative force that shapes authentic, resilient, and contextual Christian lives. Therefore, the value of fear of God needs to be continuously instilled deeply through holistic faith education integrated into the lives of communities of believers.

Abstract

Economic growth serves as a key indicator in determining the level of a country's development. Countries with high economic growth typically demonstrate macroeconomic stability, a conducive investment climate, and sound fiscal management. This study aims to analyze the influence of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), government expenditure, and inflation on economic growth in three ASEAN countries with different income levels as classified by the World Bank: Singapore (high income), Indonesia (upper-middle income), and Cambodia (lower-middle income). The research employs secondary data obtained from the World Bank covering the period from 1993 to 2023. A total of 360 observations were analyzed using panel data regression analysis. The findings indicate that Foreign Direct Investment, government expenditure, and inflation simultaneously have a significant effect on economic growth in the three countries. However, the partial effects of each variable differ across countries.

Abstract

Religious conflicts in Indonesia a difficult challange in building in the integrity and unity of the nation’s insight. Amid rising polarization of religious identities and the spread of radicalism in various forms, religious moderation has become a strategic approach to maintaining social harmony and religious freedom in pluralistic societies. This study aims to analyze the role of religious leaders in promoting the values of religious moderation from a Christian theological perspective. Using a descriptive qualitative method and literature review, this article examines how values such as love, tolerance, and justice taught in the Bible serve as ethical foundations for cultivating a balanced religious attitude. Religious leaders function not only as spiritual guides but also as agents of social transformation and mediators between different faith communities. This study finds that the strategic role of religious leaders includes teaching moderation through preaching and education, facilitating interfaith dialogue, and exemplifying moderation in public life. It suggests the need for strengthening the theological and social capacities of religious leaders so they can actively contribute to peacebuilding and prevent religion-based radicalism.
