The purpose of writing this article is to determine the effect of the picture and picture learning model and diction mastery on the ability to write expository texts for Class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Penawartama students. The method used in this research is experimental with treatment by level design. This experimental method is used to examine whether there is a causal relationship by giving treatment to the experimental group whose results are compared with the results of the control group. The research method designed to determine the magnitude of the effect between different variables by looking at the magnitude of the difference with the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) technique. In this study, the ability to write expository text was given treatment with the picture and picture learning model, the population was class VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Penawartama. The total sample is 68 students who are spread out in class VIII A as the experimental class and class VIII B as the control class. The results show that the average ability to write exposition texts using the picture and picture learning model that has high diction mastery (A1B1) = 74, 90 If we compare the use of the two learning models to students who have low diction mastery. In students who are taught with the picture and picture learning model with low diction mastery (A1B2) the average is 71, 37. Thus the average ability to write exposition texts of students who use the picture and picture learning model is higher than the average writing ability exposition text that uses conventional learning models in each different diction mastery.

Abstract

The present paper offers an analytical study on the Sulabha-Janaka Samvada as one of the significant pieces of philosophical and religious instructions in the Shanti Parva of Vyasa’s Mahabharata. The dialogue that takes place between a male emperor and female recluse stands tall not only because it serves as an exploration of key feminine voices incessantly debating the ideas of Samkhya Philosophy and means to salvation(moksa) but also because it establishes Sulabha’s discourses as a rare occasion in the ambit of Sanskrit Literature. In this discourse, we find the idea of what constitutes a well-knit argument, proponents of a debate that defines meaning-making in the process of closely scrutinized and investigated language structure. This discourse between two polar personalities becomes a short philosophical dialogic treatise, amid hefty monologues such as the incessant instructions by Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita and Bheeshma in the Shanti Parva interspaced by many teachings of Vidura. Sulabha’s counter-arguments to Janaka are significant for it redefines the meaning and path to moksa, and in the process, expounds on what is proper speech, the correct usage of language and vocabulary and the purpose of doing so irrespective of the biases of class, gender, caste and educational elitism. The Sulabha-Janaka conversation has not received its due credit either in the Western or Eastern academic scholarship and scholarly attention has only been invested in the teachings of theGita, the ideas of dharma and many similar aspects. This short textual study provides a fresh perspective on philosophizing human need of meaning making and understanding the art of negotiating the engagement process of meaning associated with its structure. Abstract

Afghanistan’s strategic location and lying at the crossroad linking the Central Asian States with South Asian region motivated major powers to take interest and competing with each other for the purpose of dominance. This paved the way for making Afghanistan battleground of different powers. So, Afghanistan is a country with a myriad history inflicted with conflicts of interests among regional and international powers. Therefore, Afghanistan has a deep history of insurgency, resistance and wars that shapes the perceptions of the people who live there. For instance, Taliban propaganda portrayed Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai as an American Shah Shuja, a cutting reference to the king the British brought to power in 1839 during the First Anglo-Afghan War (1839-42). When British troops deployed to southern Afghanistan in 2006, residents feared they had been sent to take revenge for the Afghan victory at the Battle of Maiwand which took place there during the Second Anglo-Afghan War in 1880. In addition, plans for withdrawing international forces from Afghanistan, immediately make Afghans recall the Soviet withdrawal in 1989 that began a slide to civil war. However, the super powers interferences in the internal affairs (cultural and religious values) of the Afghans lead to wars and political turmoil so much so that the country cannot be turned to a stable state. The paper examines the mistakes of major powers and their destruction role in the continuing civil war and miserable situations of the Afghan people.

Abstract

Beauty is one of the three concepts to which value judgments are attributed. Immanuel Kant, the great German philosopher (1724-1804 AD), stated that beauty is something that arouses the satisfaction of the soul without the need for imagination. In other words, beauty is what makes us feel happy without seeing it and also without any apparent benefit. The relation of beauty and ugliness to passivity is analogous to the relation of good and evil to action and the relation of right and wrong to reason. Beauty is synonymous with goodness and virtue, signifying proportion and harmony between the components of an object. It is mentioned in the authoritative book of hadith (Muslim Sharif) that "Allah is the most beautiful of the beloved," implying that God (the Exalted) is beautiful and loves beauty. Additionally, divine verses and signs, by reminding us of the manifestations of beauty in creation, prompt humans to admire their creator based on the manifestations of existential creation. They also encourage us to recognize that the beauty of human creation encompasses the earth, sky, stars, and more. Everyone is invited and guided to God through these manifestations.

This study aims to see and describe the influence of the principal's leadership style and teacher work culture on the performance of state high school teachers in Lubuk Raja District, OKU Regency. The method used is descriptive quantitative. Data in the form of a questionnaire is classified as quantitative data. The independent variable in this study is the Principal Leadership Style (X1) and Teacher Work Culture (X2), and the dependent variable in this study is Teacher Performance (Y). Data analysis techniques, namely 1) simple and multiple linear correlation test; 2) Significant test using t-test and f-test. The leadership style of the principal and work culture together have a positive effect on teacher performance. The coefficient of the second variable between the second independent variable and the variable in Ry.12 is 0.670. From this coefficient, it can be calculated that the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.449, meaning that 44.90% of the teacher performance reports can be linked with the principal's leadership style and teacher work culture.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the historical context, dynamics, and implications of the political and cultural relations between Afghanistan and Iran during the reign of Amanullah Khan (1919-1929 AD). The method employed involves analyzing historical records and narratives to understand the initial cordiality between Amanullah Khan and Reza Shah, their visits to each other's countries, and the subsequent deterioration of political relations. Despite external influences from global powers that sought to hinder the expansion of political, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations, the shared history and interests of Afghanistan and Iran fostered a strong cultural relationship. This study finds that cultural relations served as a reliable foundation for enhancing overall bilateral relations, often compensating for fluctuations in political interactions. The implications of this research highlight the significance of cultural relations as a means to strengthen and diversify ties between neighboring countries, suggesting that a focus on cultural exchange can yield positive outcomes even in the absence of strong political alliances.
