Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of parents in improving the early reading skills of first-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Tinggede, Marawola Subdistrict, Sigi Regency. The main research questions examined are: (1) What forms of parental involvement are present? and (2) How does such involvement influence children’s reading abilities? This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects consist of one first-grade teacher, five parents, and twenty-two students. The data obtained were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that parents play the roles of educators, motivators, and facilitators by accompanying their children in reading, providing reading materials, and creating a conducive learning environment. Among the twenty-two students, seven were categorized as fluent readers, six as moderate, and nine as non-fluent readers. This study highlights the family’s role as a key factor in the development of early literacy skills among children at the primary education level.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the utilization of AI as a literacy support tool to enhance English reading skills. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design with purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included observation and interviews involving 23 respondents from the second-semester students of the Sharia Economics program. The data analysis process consisted of data collection, data reduction, conclusion drawing, and data validation. To ensure data validity, this study applied triangulation of theories and methods. The findings revealed that the use of AI made the English learning process, particularly in reading skills, more practical and engaging, as students can ask questions at any time and receive quick responses without feeling pressured. This contributed to increased interest and motivation for independent learning. However, several challenges were also identified, such as limited internet access, misunderstandings of vocabulary, occasional inaccuracies in information, and difficulties in comprehending certain answers. Some respondents also felt that they were becoming overly dependent on ChatGPT.

Abstract

The skill of educators in SD Inpres Donggala Kodi to create resources for Islamic Education in the 4th grade is essential for improving pupils' knowledge and regard for Islamic principles. The goal of this research is to analyze the educator's capability to create materials for Islamic Education in the 4th grade at SD Inpres Donggala Kodi, with a specific concentration on the subject of "Being a Virtuous Child," instead of encompassing the complete Islamic Education program. A qualitative research strategy is applied in this research, utilizing approaches to data collection, for example interviews, observations, and assessing documents. The findings demonstrate that the Islamic Education educator in the 4th grade at SD Inpres Donggala Kodi does have the ability to develop resources for Islamic Education. This skill is recognized as pedagogical competence, which is reinforced by the author's analysis that the educator is able to design appealing instructional resources by utilizing various materials (books, music videos, the Qur'an, hadith, and online applications) and applies different instructional strategies. Also, utilizing technology-based learning platforms can enhance student attention and incentive in discovering Islamic values. The meaning of this study emphasize the importance of improving educators' skills to create successful Islamic education resources to accomplish more extensive understanding and to grow a solid Islamic identity in pupils' lives.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the use of coding in mathematics learning and analyze its impact on improving the understanding of mathematical concepts in third-grade students at MI Tarbiyatus Shibyan. The background of this research is based on the importance of contextual, enjoyable, and relevant learning innovations in the digital era. One potential approach is the integration of coding or simple visual programming, such as Scratch, into the mathematics learning process. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation of teachers and third-grade students. The results showed that the planned use of coding can help students understand mathematical concepts such as number patterns, coordinates, and arithmetic logic through exploratory and creative activities. Students became more enthusiastic and active, and showed improvement in connecting abstract mathematical concepts with digital visualizations. Teachers assessed this approach as relevant and providing a more meaningful learning experience. This research recommends the use of coding as an alternative learning strategy that not only instills an understanding of mathematical concepts but also develops logical, creative, and collaborative thinking skills in third-grade students at MI Tarbiyatus Shibyan Kembiritan Genteng, Banyuwangi.
