Abstract

Background: Toilet training is an essential developmental milestone that supports children’s independence; however, children with intellectual disabilities often experience developmental delays and require consistent guidance and appropriate parenting strategies. Purpose: to analyze the relationship between parenting styles and toilet training success among children with intellectual disabilities. Method: This quantitative cross-sectional study the respondents were parents of children enrolled at Extraordinary School Dharma Bhakti Piyungan and Extraordinary School Dharma Putra Semin, selected using total sampling (n = 56). Data were collected using parenting style and toilet training success questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: The results showed that 38 children (62,5%) were successful in toilet training, while 18 children (32,1%) were unsuccessful. Based on the dominant parenting style categories, 45 children (80,4%) with democratic parenting, 35 children (62,5%) were successful, whereas all children with permissive parenting (10.7%) were unsuccessful. In authoritarian parenting, 3 children (5.4%) were successful, and 2 children (3.6%) were unsuccessful. The Chi-Square test demonstrated a significant relationship between parenting style and toilet training success (p = 0.001), with a strong association (Cramer’s V = 0.515). Conclusion: These findings indicate that parenting style plays an important role in supporting toileting independence among children with intellectual disabilities. Structured, consistent, and responsive parenting approaches are essential in enhancing toilet training success.

Abstract

Background: Early mobilization is a non-pharmacological intervention believed to accelerate the healing process of postoperative wounds, including in patients who have undergone cesarean section. In Indonesia, the estimated proportion of cesarean section deliveries ranges from 30% to 80% of total births. Purpose: To examine the impact of early mobilization on wound recovery in mothers after cesarean section surgery. Method: This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and was conducted from January to March 2025. A total of 30 participants were determined through purposive sampling based on specific criteria. Data collection was carried out through direct observation of wound conditions using clinical indicators, then analyzed using Kendall's Tau statistical test at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The analysis shows a significant correlation between early mobilization and accelerated wound healing after C-section. These findings reinforce that early mobilization can serve as an efficient and safe non-pharmacological intervention in supporting post-surgical recovery. Conclusion: Therefore, the active involvement of health workers in providing education and assistance to post-operative mothers is highly recommended so that mobilization can be optimally applied according to the clinical condition of each patient. Suggestion: Health workers, especially midwives and nurses in the postpartum care unit, are expected to play an active role in providing education, motivation, and assistance to mothers who have undergone C-sections so that they can mobilize early according to their physical condition.

Abstract

Background: Anxiety during pregnancy is one of the psychological disorders experienced by pregnant women and can have a negative impact on the delivery process and fetal development. One non-pharmacological approach that can be used to reduce anxiety is hypnotherapy. Purpose: To assess the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in reducing anxiety levels in pregnant women undergoing examinations at the Plaingkau Community Health Center. Method: The research design applied was a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 20 pregnant women were selected as respondents using purposive sampling. The instrument used to measure anxiety levels in mothers was the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) before and after the intervention was given. Hypnotherapy was conducted twice a week and supplemented with audio recordings for independent practice at home. Results: Bivariate analysis using the Paired t-Test showed a significant decrease in anxiety levels, with an average difference of 18.050 and a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion: Hypnotherapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing anxiety in pregnant women and is suitable for implementation in antenatal care services at the primary health care level. Suggestion: Future research should involve a larger sample size and use a more robust experimental design, for example by including a control group to improve the validity of the comparison of results.

Abstract

Background: Maternal health is a crucial indicator of a country's health care system and development progress. Despite global progress in maternal health services, Indonesia still faces significant challenges, particularly in areas like Bengkulu City, where gaps in maternal emergency care persist. These challenges, including delayed response to obstetric emergencies and inadequate training of health workers, contribute to preventable maternal morbidity and mortality. Purpose: To assess the impact of reproductive health services on maternal emergency care by comparing the service systems of two hospitals. Method: This was a comparative quantitative study using a quasi-experimental approach. Data were collected from 32 pregnant women receiving maternal health services at two hospitals in Bengkulu City: Tiara Sella Regional Hospital and Ummi Regional Hospital. Participants were selected using simple random sampling, and data were analyzed using inferential biostatistics, including t-tests, to examine the relationship between service quality and maternal emergency outcomes. The study focused on service accessibility, quality, early detection, and intervention protocols. Results: Results showed a significant increase in participant satisfaction after treatment, with the mean satisfaction score increasing from 1.20 to 2.90 (p = 0.001). Analysis revealed a moderate positive correlation (0.50) between pre- and post-treatment satisfaction, indicating that the intervention was highly effective for those with lower baseline satisfaction. Furthermore, there was a 6.9-point difference in mean satisfaction, with a 95% confidence interval ranging from 1.8 to 11.73. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that appropriate interventions can significantly improve patient satisfaction. There was a significant difference before and after treatment. Even patients who were initially dissatisfied benefited from the intervention. This suggests that a patient-centered approach to care can help address diverse needs and improve healthcare outcomes.

Abstract

Background: Picky eating is a problem often encountered by parents that can lead to malnutrition if it persists over a long period of time. This eating disorder can have an impact on a child's growth, increase the risk of death, and if it becomes more severe, it can lead to anorexia and bulimia. In adulthood, this eating disorder can increase the risk of degenerative diseases and make individuals more susceptible to nutritional problems. Almost every component of a child's body can be trained through physical activity to move dynamically, preventing excessive fat formation and impacting nutritional status. Purpose: To determine the relationship between picky eating behavior and motor development in preschool children. Method: This study used a cross-sectional design, collecting samples from 35 toddlers using total sampling techniques. The respondents were all parents of students at the Kemala Bhayangkari 05 SPN Batua kindergarten. The research instruments used were the Developmental Pre-Screening Questionnaire (KPSP) and the Picky Eater Questionnaire. Results: The study showed that based on the chi-square statistical test, a p-value of 0.004 was obtained. Conclusion: There is a relationship between picky eating behavior and motor development in preschool children. Suggestion: Toddlers with picky eating conditions should be given special attention to address their condition so that it does not have a long-term impact.

Abstract

Background: Long-term contraception (MKJP) is an effective, safe, and highly successful method of contraception, but its use in the community is still relatively low. Purpose: To determine the relationship between knowledge, spousal support, and accessibility of health services with mothers' interest in using MKJP. Method: This was an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study consisted of all mothers of childbearing age who were LCP acceptors and non-acceptors in the working area of the Bangkala Community Health Center. The research sample was determined using proportional random sampling. The research instrument used a structured questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. Results: There was a significant relationship between knowledge (p=0.002 < 0.05), husband's support (p= 0.047 < 0.05), and accessibility of health services (p= 0.031<0.05) with mothers' interest in using MKJP. The variable that had the most influence on interest was husband support, with the highest odds ratio (OR). Conclusion: This study concluded that increasing knowledge through appropriate education, strengthening husband support, and improving access to and affordability of health services can increase mothers' interest in using MKJP.
