Abstract

Abstract

The rapid growth of Indonesian Umrah pilgrims is currently facing systemic challenges, including disruptions from the Nusuk digital platform policy (Saudi Vision 2030) and the onslaught of independent Umrah trends. This study aims to evaluate the company's competitive position and formulate operational tactics for the Travel Makkata Umroh Pontianak branch using the SWOT matrix instrument harmonized with the perspective of Islamic business ethics. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with top management and documentation studies between December 4 and 9, 2024. The analysis results show that the company's strategic position is in Quadrant I, which recommends aggressive growth steps. Corporate governance is based on the implementation of Islamic business ethics through FAST (Fathonah, Amanah, Shiddiq, Tabligh) capabilities which serve as the main guiding pillars. The formulated strategy blueprint includes geographic and demographic expansion, commercial financing alliances, guerrilla marketing tactics, and internal business process reengineering to mitigate public trauma against problematic agencies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form, effectiveness, and determinant factors of the Pontianak City Government's policy intervention in restoring and empowering aloe vera farmer groups. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative research design, this study is focused in the North Pontianak District. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with farmer representatives and officials from the Department of Food, Agriculture, and Fisheries (DPPP), along with field observations and documentation studies. The research findings indicate that the Pontianak City Government has implemented four dimensions of structural intervention: production facilities and infrastructure assistance (including the distribution of operational vehicles to overcome upstream logistical constraints), training programs for derivative product diversification and multiculture planting patterns, marketing facilitation through the integration of the Aloe Vera Center ecosystem, and comprehensive capital access assistance. The discussion reveals that this intervention has proven effective in restoring farmers' fundamental motivation and operational mobility in the short term. Nevertheless, long-term effectiveness is still hindered by the slow adaptation to post-harvest technology, market price disparities, and suboptimal institutional synergy between the upstream and downstream industrial sectors. This study concludes that empowering urban farmers requires a paradigm shift from a charitable approach to participatory ecosystem governance.

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays an essential role in sustaining national food security, providing employment, and driving the rural economy in Indonesia. This research aims to comprehensively analyze the impact of government policies on the productivity, welfare levels, and various structural and operational challenges faced by the Puring Sari Farmer Group in Arang Limbung Village, Sungai Raya District, Kubu Raya Regency. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical method, primary data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews using a purposive sampling technique targeting the Head of the Farmer Group, farmer members, and the Arang Limbung Village Head, combined with participatory field observations on the peatlands managed by the community. The findings indicate that government policy interventions in the upstream sector yield significant positive impacts, particularly through the distribution of production facilities such as SNI-standardized subsidized fertilizers and free pesticide assistance. This aid is distributed structurally through the guidance of Agricultural Extension Officers (PPL) and the e-RDKK system, which has proven highly effective in drastically reducing variable production costs and is categorized as well-targeted. Nevertheless, the macro-effectiveness of these policies is substantially diminished by various constraints at the cultivation and post-harvest levels. Key challenges include: (1) the severe lack of modern agricultural machinery, wherein the group only possesses a single rice thresher (power thresher) inherited from three administrative periods ago; (2) limited access to formal capital (financial inclusion) that causes farmers to fail in accessing programs like the People's Business Credit (KUR) and forces them to rely on personal funds or high-interest loans from loan sharks; (3) bureaucratic communication barriers with the central government, tangibly represented by the cancellation of a strategic meeting between farmer representatives and the Minister of Agriculture; (4) the destructive impacts of extreme climate change and annual flooding that damage lands without concrete micro-land mitigation from the government; and (5) the instability of commodity selling prices during peak harvest seasons, which fall into the hands of middlemen due to weak market regulation interventions and rigid absorption standards. As an effort to improve policy effectiveness in the future, this study recommends comprehensive strategies that include the need for equitable distribution of modern infrastructure aid, the opening and simplification of capital access such as KUR without burdensome physical collateral, the initiation of strategic collaboration with the private sector through the utilization of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and the establishment and enforcement of fair base prices to protect farmers' profit margins.

Abstract

Green waqf is an innovation in Islamic philanthropy integrating traditional waqf principles with environmental preservation, aiming at ecological and social sustainability. This study employs qualitative literature review and descriptive analysis to examine the concept, implementation, challenges, and impacts of green waqf in Indonesia. Findings indicate that green waqf benefits society socially and economically through programs such as waqf forests, renewable energy waqf, sustainable agriculture, and clean water waqf, empowering communities while enhancing environmental quality. Challenges include low waqf literacy, limited technical skills of managers, and absence of specific regulations. Green waqf contributes to sustainable development by asset optimization, creation of green jobs, climate change mitigation, and supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Strengthening management and cross-sector collaboration are essential to maximize green waqf’s potential.

Abstract

Entering the post-pandemic demographic dividend era, youth play a crucial role in transforming from job seekers to job creators. This study uses a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach based on field research. The research subjects consisted of 12 youth MSME actors (aged 18-30 years) from various sectors selected purposively. Primary and secondary data collection were carried out simultaneously through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. The collected data were then analyzed using an interactive model that includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that youth make concrete contributions to reducing the unemployment rate through the creation of new jobs, the utilization of accelerated digital marketing, and the creation of product innovations. Despite facing structural obstacles in the form of limited access to initial capital and the complexity of licensing administration, these young coastal entrepreneurs have consistently practiced the five axioms of Islamic economics (Tawhid, 'Adl, Nubuwwah, Khilafah, and Ma'ad). Operational evaluation also shows that their trading system is highly consistent with the objectives of Maqashid Sharia, particularly the preservation of productivity Hifdzul Maal (safeguarding wealth) and the fulfillment of safety standards Hifdzun Nafs (safeguarding life), and is strictly free from the intrusion of the invalid (fasid) practices of MAGHRIB (Maysir [gambling], Gharar [uncertainty], and Riba [usury]).
