Abstract

This study aims to examine and compare the practice of implementing mudharabah sukuk contracts in Indonesia and Kuwait as two countries that are actively developing sharia financial instruments. Mudharabah sukuk is an investment instrument based on profit sharing between capital owners (shahibul maal) and business managers (mudharib), which does not contain elements of usury and gharar. The method used in this study is a literature study, by examining various secondary sources such as scientific articles, government regulations, financial institution reports, and other academic publications. The results of the study show that Indonesia has built a fairly mature mudharabah sukuk regulatory system through the active role of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the National Sharia Council (DSN-MUI), although it still faces challenges in terms of public education and secondary market development. On the other hand, Kuwait has a more integrated regulatory structure and sharia standards based on international guidelines such as AAOIFI, but is still limited in issuing mudharabah sukuk due to technical and market constraints. This comparison shows that both countries have their own strengths and weaknesses in developing mudharabah sukuk, which can be a cross-country learning in an effort to strengthen the global sharia financial market.

Abstract

This article explores the legal framework of al-rahn (Islamic pawn) by emphasizing the integration between state regulations and religious decrees in Indonesia. The analysis focuses on the relationship POJK as a source of formal legal authority and the fatwa DSN-MUI as a normative reference rooted in Islamic principles. A qualitative approach is employed through library research, examining official documents such as POJK No. 31/POJK.05/2014 on Sharia Financing Products and DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 25/DSN-MUI/III/2002 on Rahn. The findings reveal that POJK provides legal certainty and an operational framework for Islamic financial institutions, while the DSN-MUI fatwa establishes non-negotiable sharia boundaries. Both instruments work in a complementary manner to establish a credible, just, and socially responsive Islamic pawn system tailored to the needs of Indonesia’s Muslim community.

Abstract

Sharia-compliant stocks represent a rapidly growing investment instrument in line with increasing awareness of Islamic economic principles. Unlike conventional stocks, Sharia stocks are based on specific Islamic contracts (akad) such as musyarakah and mudharabah, ensuring transactions comply with Sharia law. This paper aims to explore the types of Sharia contracts applied in equity investment and compare their practical implementation in two distinct Islamic financial environments: Indonesia and Qatar. Using a normative-comparative approach and literature review methodology, this study examines the regulatory frameworks, fatwas, and institutional structures governing Sharia capital markets in both countries. The findings reveal that while both nations uphold the foundational principles of Islamic finance prohibiting riba (interest), gharar (excessive uncertainty), and maysir (speculation) they differ significantly in the operationalization of Sharia compliance. Indonesia relies heavily on the Fatwa of the National Sharia Council (DSN-MUI) and supervision by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), whereas Qatar applies standards from AAOIFI and localized Sharia boards. This study contributes to the growing discourse on Sharia capital market harmonization and provides insights for policymakers to enhance Sharia equity frameworks that align with maqasid al-shariah.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the agricultural trade practices of PT (Individual Entity) Abqori Edu Agrarian through the theoretical lens of Maqashid Syari’ah, with a particular emphasis on the protection of wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl), preservation of life (ḥifẓ an-nafs), and social justice. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of local agribusiness activities. The findings reveal that the company’s trading mechanism prioritizes transparency, fair pricing, and long-term partnerships between farmers and the management. These practices largely align with the objectives of Maqashid Syari’ah, especially in ensuring economic sustainability for farmers and promoting more equitable distribution of profits. Nevertheless, the study also identifies several practical challenges, such as limited grassroots literacy in Islamic economics, market asymmetries, and economic pressures from intermediaries (tengkulak), which collectively hinder the consistent application of Sharia principles. The research recommends enhanced Islamic economic education for micro-agribusiness stakeholders and more structural policy interventions to support ethical Sharia-based economic practices within the agricultural sector.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the banking sector has become a strategic necessity to address changing customer behavior, which increasingly prioritizes convenience, speed, and transaction security. Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), as the largest Islamic bank in Indonesia, responded to this trend by migrating its mobile banking services from BSI Mobile to a new platform called Beyond by BSI. This study aims to analyze the role of this migration in improving customer service quality, identify supporting and inhibiting factors for implementation, and evaluate its impact on customer satisfaction and loyalty. The research method used was a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with customers and management, supported by secondary data from BSI's internal reports and publications from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The results show that Beyond by BSI provides a better service experience through more comprehensive features, an intuitive interface design, and increased transaction security. However, challenges that emerged included user adaptation to system changes and the need to increase digital literacy among some customer segments. In conclusion, the Beyond by BSI migration contributed positively to improving customer service and satisfaction, while strengthening BSI's position in the competitive national digital banking industry.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the need for stable investment instruments that comply with Sharia principles. The gold installment product offered by Pegadaian Syariah has become a popular option, although customer interest is influenced by gold price fluctuations and promotional strategies. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of these two factors on customer interest, both partially and simultaneously. The study employs a quantitative approach with an associative design, involving 150 respondents who are customers of the gold installment product at Pegadaian Syariah CPS Bengkulu, selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression with SPSS version 27. The results indicate that both gold price fluctuations and promotional strategies significantly affect customer interest, whether individually or jointly. This implies that gold prices and promotions play an important role in shaping customer preferences toward the gold installment product. The study provides a theoretical contribution to the literature on consumer behavior in Islamic economics as well as practical insights for Islamic financial institutions in designing effective promotional strategies. Thus, careful management of price fluctuations and promotional activities is key to enhancing the attractiveness, competitiveness, and market position of Sharia-based investment products..

Abstract

This study investigates the empirical link between foreign language proficiency and the economic competitiveness of Indonesian university graduates. The shift to a knowledge-based economy demands skills beyond technical expertise. Utilizing a mixed-method approach, the study surveyed 20 graduates from the 2023–2024 cohort to analyze their economic outcomes. Findings reveal a strong correlation: graduates with high foreign language skills (TOEFL > 550) secure jobs faster (1–3 months), with higher salaries (Rp9–15 million), and more strategic positions. In contrast, those with low proficiency wait longer (7–10 months) and receive lower pay (Rp4–5 million) in administrative roles. The results, consistent with Human Capital Theory , suggest that language skills are a significant investment that boosts a graduate's economic value. The study recommends that higher education should integrate foreign language into core curricula and promote international certification to enhance graduate competitiveness in the global job market.

Abstract

This study analyzes financing management strategies in managing scholarship funds at STAI Ali bin Abi Thalib Surabaya. Scholarships are considered crucial as instruments of educational equity and as means to improve the quality of human resources, particularly for outstanding students and those from underprivileged backgrounds. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the Vice Chairman III for student affairs, scholarship managers, and scholarship recipients. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles & Huberman, which includes data reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings reveal that financing management strategies consist of: (1) need-based budget planning with systematic recording in accordance with Islamic principles, (2) transparent recipient selection based on academic achievement, Qur’an memorization, leadership training, and economic background, (3) fund distribution through direct campus payments or student bank transfers, and (4) periodic academic and financial evaluations. These strategies have been proven to enhance learning motivation, academic performance, reduce dropout rates, and encourage student involvement in campus organizations. Overall, accountable and professional scholarship management contributes significantly to expanding access, improving quality, and ensuring the sustainability of higher education. This study also emphasizes the importance of innovation in financing management, particularly in transparency, student financial literacy, and sustainable funding sources, so that scholarship programs can continue and provide long-term benefits

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of fair pricing in Islamic economics as emphasized by Al-Ghazali, who highlights honesty, transparency, and balance in market transactions. The research aims to explore the implementation of Al-Ghazali’s concept of fair price in trading practices at Panorama Market, Bengkulu. This study employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach through in-depth interviews with six traders and two buyers, as well as direct observation of market activities. The findings reveal that most traders at Panorama Market apply fair pricing principles in line with Al-Ghazali’s concept, although certain practices are still influenced by market conditions and short-term profit motives. The study concludes that Al-Ghazali’s perspective remains relevant in traditional market contexts, particularly in maintaining transaction blessings and preventing price injustice.

Abstract

Cooperatives in Indonesia play a crucial role as the main drivers of the people's economy, particularly in supporting the welfare of members and the community. However, in the current digital era, cooperatives face increasingly complex challenges, such as limited access to technology and low-quality human resources. This research aims to identify effective strategies to enhance cooperatives' contribution to national economic growth using Arthur F. Lykke's strategic theory framework, which consists of three main elements: Ways (methods), Means (resources used), and Ends (goals to be achieved). By using a literature study method and analyzing 15 relevant scientific journals, this research finds that innovation in digitalization, capacity building of human resources, and strategic collaboration are key for cooperatives to transform and strengthen their competitiveness in the global market. The research results show that with the right strategy, cooperatives can become a major driving force in creating inclusive and sustainable economic growth, strengthening local economic resilience, and empowering communities towards better welfare.
