Abstract

Municipality of Pilar is the last town in the eastern province of Capiz. Pilar Bay, spanning 20 square kilometers, is a boon. At low tide, a variety of edible bivalves' shells may be found around the bay's shoreline, offering a source of money for the residents. The loss in bivalve variety, abundance, and ecological functions due to overharvesting signifies a loss of environmental integrity at the local and watershed levels. The purpose of this study was to catalog and assess the variety of edible bivalves found in the Municipality's intertidal zone. Descriptive survey methods were used to gather data from December 2015 to January 2016 in eight barangays in Pilar: Dulangan, Binaobawan, Rosario, Poblacion, Natividad, San Ramon, Casanayan, Balogo, and Dayhagan. Three 1 × 1 m2 quadrats were placed down in each of the nine stations that were chosen using the belt transect approach and a quadrat. The following items were utilized to perform the study: a tiny garden trowel, a laptop computer, a nylon rope, pegs, a meter stick, and a camera. The findings indicate that seven (7) edible bivalves belonging to the families Arcidae, Veneridae, Psammobidae, Mactridea, and Solenidae were known locally as paros, litob, punaw, bug-atan, higda-higda, tikhan, and kagaykay. It also demonstrates which species were most prevalent and prolific in Pilar's intertifal zone: litob, punaw, kagaykay, higda-higda, and bug-atan.

Abstract

Urban development is one of the forms of progress of a city, which shows that the economy of an area is running well, especially in the education area. The education area is an area that has a level of density at a certain time span and provides facilities for pedestrian space. A good educational area is to provide ease of movement for pedestrians. However, this is rarely found in the education area. Education areas are more dominated by the economy in the form of trade and services, so the need for pedestrian ways is often forgotten and considered unimportant. This can be seen on Jalan WR Soepratman (the gate of Bengkulu University (UNIB) up to Elementary School 69 Bengkulu City. Every day, Jalan WR Soepratman is high in motorized vehicle and pedestrian activity, both from students and from the community. The high level of activity in the area along WR Soepratman is due to the large number of Bengkulu University students and students from 69 Bengkulu City elementary schools. On the WR Soepratman road that connects Bengkulu University (UNIB) with Elementary School 69 Bengkulu City, there are no pedestrian facilities. On the shoulder of the road is used for selling activities for street vendors. Based on this, research is needed so that the end of this research can be a design solution in planning pedestrian paths on WR Soepratman Road. The research methods used are literature study, observation study, and descriptive analysis.

Abstract

Building facades convey a period of culture at the time the building was built, as well as providing the identity of a cultural group or community. Building facades and anthropology became the impetus to find out the original characteristics of the two main facades in the row of Malabero Chinese shophouses on Jalan D. I. Panjaitan Bengkulu City. This research uses the field observation method to obtain data through photographs as well as information from the surrounding community, historians, and cultural experts in Bengkulu and Malabero Chinese Village, to get a link to the facade pattern with an emphasis on building facade elements (roof, walls and building openings) through variables of Chinese shophouse facade characteristics and shop house facade indicators. Malabero Bengkulu's Chinese shophouses are grouped within the Chinese settlement (Chinese Kamp) in front of Fort Marlborough, initially having two characteristics of Chinese shophouse building styles based on their facades. The alteration of the south side of the Malabero Chinese shophouses eliminated many of the original characteristics of the original facade of the Malabero Bengkulu Chinese shophouses (gable roof). As a result, many new characteristics of the shophouse facade elements have been replaced. The shape of the roof (gunungan), the removal of the balcony, and the shape of the building openings became the characteristics of the facade face of the south side Malabero Chinese shop house (gunungan roof). This change in the facade is in anticipation of the load being responsive to earthquakes.

Abstract

This research is entitled Evaluation of the Indonesian Population Administration Awareness Movement (GISA) Programme in Bogor Regency. The purpose of this research is to evaluate and find out the obstacles encountered in the implementation of the GISA Programme in Bogor Regency. This is motivated by the low level of public awareness of the importance of having legal population documents in accordance with the law. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods and uses evaluation theory according to William N Dunn with its criteria indicators, namely Effectiveness, Efficiency, Adequacy, Equity, Responsiveness, and Appropriateness. Data collection techniques use primary and secondary data sources, namely primary data sources including observation and interviews while secondary data sources with literature studies and documentation are then combined for validity using triangulation techniques. For data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model, namely by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, then drawing conclusions. The results obtained show that the desired results are not quite optimal. This is due to the obstacles faced, including distance that causes limited access and information, limited resources, lack of coordination between agencies, and also the presence of brokers who often harm the community. There needs to be binding or compelling rules, in addition to the awareness of all parties to make a real contribution in an effort to improve the quality of population administration services so that all matters relating to population data can be resolved so that the realisation of an orderly national population administration in accordance with the laws and regulations

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of traffic safety education among students in Pontianak City using a descriptive qualitative method. The results reveal a gap between knowledge and traffic rule application. Supervision, peer influence, and family roles significantly affect student behavior. Although students receive formal education, compliance relies on supervision and fear of sanctions. Interactive teaching methods proved more effective than theoretical approaches. A holistic approach involving schools, families, and law enforcement is necessary to enhance traffic awareness and compliance.

Abstract

Literature on the factors that account for good academic performance among children from single-parent homes remains scarce. This study examined the factors that account for good academic performance among children from single-parent homes at Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, Kumasi. The study adopted the qualitative approach and the case study design. Ten teachers, ten single parents, and ten students from single-parent homes were purposively sampled and interviewed. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis. Within the frame of Cognitive Development Theory and John Bowlby’s Attachment Theory, the findings revealed that single parents play roles by visiting their children in school, providing them with educational needs, advising their children, and arranging extra classes for their children to enhance their academic performance. It was also revealed that teachers provided counseling services to students and encouraged and motivated them to learn. Findings also show that environmental factors, social media, and students' IQ levels are other factors accounting for the good academic performance of students from single-parent homes. The study concludes that apart from the significant role of teachers, environmental factors, students' IQ level, and social media, single parents can push their children to perform well in school when they are financially capable and well-determined. The study recommends that single parents participate in school committee activities that are more concerned with their children's academic well-being than other school development initiatives. We also recommend that single parents provide their children with smartphones so they can benefit from social media and improve their studies.

Abstract

This study explores the challenges and potential solutions for addressing tax evasion among digital content creators, specifically focusing on TikTokers in Indonesia. As the digital economy grows, the increasing income generated by content creators has prompted concerns about tax compliance. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and a literature review, this study identifies several factors contributing to low tax compliance, including a lack of understanding of tax obligations, unclear tax classification for content creators, and difficulties in tracking digital transactions by tax authorities. The findings suggest the need for enhanced education, clearer tax regulations specific to content creators, and improved monitoring mechanisms. Recommendations are provided for the government to increase voluntary tax compliance among content creators, contributing to more effective taxation in the digital economy.
