Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the biomechanical and technical variables related to performance and to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the smashing skill among volleyball players from Tikrit University. The researchers hypothesized that three-dimensional kinematic analysis could help identify specific kinematic variables and evaluate the efficiency of the smashing technique used by these athletes. To achieve this, the researchers adopted a descriptive approach utilizing the case study method, which was deemed most suitable for examining the biomechanical and technical elements of the smashing skill. The research sample consisted of four intentionally selected players from the Tikrit University volleyball team, all of whom participated in the Iraqi Universities Championship during the 2023–2024 academic year. These players were chosen specifically for their specialization in smashing, aligning with the study's objectives. The findings revealed that allocating the appropriate amount of time for performing a smash significantly enhances performance, with players who minimize execution time proving more effective in offensive play. Additionally, variations in the body’s center of gravity were found to influence performance levels; players with a higher center of gravity are better positioned to reach higher points, thereby increasing their potential for delivering powerful and well-timed smashes. Based on these conclusions, the researchers recommended focusing on improving the timing of the smash by training athletes to increase the speed of coordination between the pass and the smash. Furthermore, emphasis should be placed on refining jump timing and faster positioning, especially for players who currently exhibit slower execution

Abstract

The study conducted in order to analyze the role of the Mind Gardens Strategy to develop long distance shooting from the basketball players in under 16 age group. 24 subjects from a local basketball club were randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental group trained by the Mind Gardens Strategy and the control group trained in the traditional way. There were three main tests in the experiment: the Five-Area Shooting Test, the Long-Distance Shooting Speed and Accuracy Test, and the Long-Distance Shooting Under Pressure Test. The results showed that the experimental team achieved performances significantly superior in the three tests, being those related to the capacity of shooting more accurate, faster and with higher success under pressure. The experimental group showed significant increases in shooting accuracy (23.93%), and shooting speed and accuracy (33.28%), and performance under pressure (34.58%). On the other hand, the control group showed less significant developments, highlighting the effectivity of Mind Gardens Strategy in the development of shooting performance when compared to the traditional one. These results indicate that the exercise employing dual cognitive training schemes, such as the Mind Gardens Strategy, on basketball training program may be useful for improving long-range shooting performance. The study highlights the relevance of cognitive tactics in sports coaching, especially among young persons involved in sports.

Abstract

The research question stems from the importance of oxygen uptake (VO2max) and endurance performance for young football players and their impact on the skills and tactical performance of all players in the game. The researchers, who are experts in the field of sports training physiology, observed fluctuations in endurance performance levels and players’ boredom due to a lack of variety in training methods, including a variable-speed play method. This is because the researchers observed the training programs of some coaches at the Karbala Youth Club and found that most coaches rely on a training method that is repetitive and causes players to get bored. Another reason that prompted the researchers to address this issue was the increase in the speed of modern football games. This requires young football players to improve their endurance performance, allowing players to always be in the best condition and delay fatigue, thereby achieving good results. Therefore, the researchers conducted various fartlek exercises on young football players at the Karbala Holy Land Club. The sample was randomly selected from the community. The sample was divided into two groups (control and experimental groups) with ten players in each group. The aim was to determine the effects of these exercises on the study group. The researchers hypothesized that diversified fartlek exercises would have a positive impact on the development of specific endurance skills in young football players. After conducting a pretest and applying these exercises to the study subjects three times a week for ten weeks, the researchers conducted a posttest and obtained the results. These carefully prepared exercises demonstrated their positive impact on the study group

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of a training model that combines the development of physical endurance and technical skills, within a realistic simulation of match performance requirements. The importance of the study stems from the need to transcend the traditional division between fitness training and technical training, given that players are required to perform precise skills under fatigued conditions. The study targeted 24 university players who were equally divided into two groups: an experimental group that underwent a combined program, and a control group that continued with traditional training. The program lasted eight weeks and included intensive physical exercises followed by technical training under fatigue. Scientific measurement tools such as the yo-yo test and the RAST test were used, in addition to passing and shooting accuracy tests. The results showed a significant superiority for the experimental group, with passing accuracy improving by 20.79% and shooting accuracy by 24.34%, along with significant improvements in aerobic endurance. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in favor of the combined program, enhancing its effectiveness. The researcher based his interpretation of the results on literature that emphasizes the importance of simulating match conditions during training, asserting that combining physical and technical training contributes to improving performance under pressure. The researcher recommended adopting this model within academic and training programs to develop players' skills in an integrated manner.

Abstract

This study examines the vital relationship between approach speed, flight angle, and landing distance during parallel bars exercises among junior gymnasts. These factors are critical biomechanical variables that influence performance quality and stability during landing, especially in the early stages of development characterized by the development of motor and technical abilities. Given the paucity of applied studies addressing this topic specifically on the parallel bars, the study sought to fill this gap by analyzing the relationship between these variables in an age group ranging from 10 to 14 years. The researcher used a descriptive analytical approach with a correlational design, applying precise tools such as high-speed photography and motion analysis software to measure the key variables. The sample included 12 gymnasts tested under standardized conditions. Each gymnast's three attempts were recorded, and the best performance was analyzed. The results showed a very strong correlation between approach speed and flight angle, as well as between each of these variables and landing distance, demonstrating the kinematic integration of flight and landing. Statistical analysis revealed that flight angle is a more important predictor than approach speed, highlighting the need to focus on correct technique during takeoff. The research recommends incorporating flight angle-specific exercises into training programs, along with the use of biomechanical measurement and analysis techniques to track performance development. It also emphasizes the importance of designing individualized training programs that take into account age and physical differences
