Abstract

This study investigates the role of assistive training devices and exercises in improving selected physical abilities—namely speed, strength, flexibility, and coordination—among futsal players with mild intellectual disabilities. It further examines how these physical enhancements contribute to the development of core futsal skills, including passing, receiving, dribbling, and shooting. The research establishes the relationship between physical development and technical performance, providing a structured training framework that incorporates assistive tools as effective means of enhancing both athletic and functional outcomes. The findings highlight the importance of adaptive training interventions in promoting physical and skill-based progress, ultimately improving daily functional performance and fostering greater inclusion of individuals with mild intellectual disabilities in sports.

Abstract

The specificity of the 400m race requires runners to run at speeds close to their maximum. This places a significant role on the central nervous system, which is responsible for the continuous mobilization of muscle fibers when a large amount of lactate accumulates. Consequently, it must improve the efficiency of the nervous system to increase the mobilization of fast-twitch muscle fibers during high lactate accumulation within the muscles. This must also increase the ability of these fibers to generate the energy they need by removing and breaking down lactate during intensive training and competition. This is the key to developing a runner's ability to tolerate and handle lactate accumulation and produce high speed despite the large accumulation, which is a high indicator of the efficiency of the body's functional organs and systems. The study aimed to: 1. Identify the effect of combined running and plyometric exercises using modified circuits on strength endurance, final speed, aerobic capacity, and the 400m completion rate for under-20years. 2. Identify the superiority of the effect between the experimental and control groups in developing research variables. The researchers used the experimental approach, designing two equivalent groups: control and experimental, to suit the research objectives and hypotheses. The research population consisted of 16 runners from the Middle Euphrates Governorates (Karbala, Babil, Najaf, Diwaniyah) and the capital, Baghdad, in the 400m under-20 competition. The researcher randomly selected the 10 runners for his research sample, representing 62.5% of the research population. The most important conclusions of the researchers were:

Abstract

This study aimed to measure the effect of Plank Exercises on improving the skills of Reception and Setting among volleyball players. An experimental approach was applied to a sample of 12 players, divided into two groups. The experimental group underwent an 8-week progressive-intensity Plank exercise program (3 sessions per week), while the control group continued with their traditional training. Results showed a statistically significant improvement (<0.05p<0.05) in reception accuracy and setting stability for the experimental group compared to the control group. The study confirms the importance of Core Stability training in enhancing the technical performance of fundamental volleyball skills. It concluded that the Plank exercise program had a statistically significant positive effect on improving the accuracy of reception and setting skills among the experimental group players. The improvement in both skills was substantially greater and statistically significant for the experimental group compared to the control group, which did not undergo the Plank program. The study recommended systematically and progressively incorporating various Plank exercises (front, side, and advanced variations) into volleyball training programs at all levels, and designing specialized Plank programs focusing on aspects most impactful for specific skills (e.g., increasing side plank difficulty to improve reception of deflected balls).

Abstract

Youth volleyball players tend to be assessed separately based on their physical or technical ability without considering the interaction of physical and technical skills that are important in the performance of the players. The purpose of the proposed study was to design and calibrate a new dual-dimensional test battery, which unites physical and technical characteristics to have a comprehensive representation of performance in young players of volleyball. The important physical aspects (strength, agility, endurance, and reaction time) and technical aspects (serving accuracy, spiking velocity, passing precision) were identified as the key issues in the design phase based upon literature review and consultation with experts in the field. To test feasibility, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability in the form of first Model, a cohort of young volleyball players (n = 30) was pilot-tested through Cronbach alpha (Cronbach) and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) method. To test construct validity during the validation phase, the results were compared to the corresponding and reputable standardized performance tests, and content validity was provided by experts/certified coaches. The statistical methods used were exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis to support the two-dimensional structure of the battery and regression analysis models to investigate physical and technical scores as the predictors of in-game performance measures. These results revealed that the instrument to be widely used has a good internal consistency, high inter-rater reliability, and notable predictive validity, which confirms that the battery is reliable, comprehensive, and practical as an instrument to assess the youth volleyball players. It is a two-dimensional methodology which has the potential of facilitating talent identification, training optimization and performance monitoring of volleyball development programs

Abstract

Examining the correlation between mental toughness and the accuracy of basketball shooting skills among advanced players is the key aim of the current study. The researcher employed the descriptive method by using the correlational approach, as it was the most appropriate for addressing the research problem. The research community was deliberately selected and consisted of advanced basketball players in Kirkuk Governorate, distributed across several clubs. The research sample was randomly selected by lottery and included 18 players from North Gas Basketball Club. The study found a statistically significant positive relationship between mental toughness and shooting accuracy among advanced basketball players, highlighting the importance of psychological factors in enhancing skill performance. Players with high mental toughness demonstrated greater confidence in decision-making during shooting, which was reflected in higher shot success rates. While psychological pressure and stress negatively affected shooting accuracy, mental toughness helped reduce the impact of these factors. The researcher recommends incorporating psychological training programs aimed at developing mental toughness among basketball players through exercises that focus on stress management and mental concentration. It is also suggested to adopt pressure-simulation methods during training to enhance players’ shooting accuracy under real-game conditions, and to encourage coaches to integrate techniques such as mental imagery and mindfulness meditation into training sessions to strengthen self-confidence and improve performance under pressure
