Abstract

Background: Non-communicable diseases, including diabetes mellitus (DM), pose a global threat. The IDF reports a global DM prevalence of 1.9%, with 95% being type 2 DM. In children and adolescents, the prevalence of type 2 DM increased to 7.2% in 2015. In West Java, DM cases reached 644,704 in 2022. Unhealthy lifestyles are the primary risk factors. Health promotion, such as podcasts, is effective for educating about healthy lifestyles. Surveys show 67.97% of respondents are familiar with podcasts. Research at SMAN 1 Cimahi found no DM education via podcasts, suggesting this medium for DM prevention. Objective: To assess the feasibility of using audio podcasts to prevent Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at SMAN 1 Cimahi using the 4D approach. Method: The research employed a 4D approach (Define, Design, Development, Dissemination) with material testing, media testing, small-scale testing, and statistical testing using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (one group pretest-posttest). The sample consisted of 80 participants. Results: Analysis showed students needed educational podcasts about type 2 diabetes mellitus. The educational podcast was designed using voice recording apps, VN, Capcut, and Canva. Canva was used to create appropriate YouTube backgrounds. The resulting podcast, lasting 7 minutes and 7 seconds, is accessible on all smartphones and available on YouTube. Statistical tests confirmed the media's feasibility and its positive impact on adolescent knowledge for preventing type 2 diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: The educational podcast for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is highly feasible and accessible through the link  https://youtu.be/JjI_sHL3RQI?si=68VYoNNq7p2u0eyg.

Abstract

Background: The high number of DM cases in Indonesia based on SIMPTM data (2022) is due to the low coverage of early detection which has only reached 25.5%. In line with the survey results of the Indonesian Ministry of Health (2021) 2 out of 3 people with DM do not know they have DM, this is influenced by knowledge factors. The development of flip sheet media can be used as an alternative to DM early detection education media that has not existed before. This is based on research conducted by Niu Flora which states that the flip sheet media is effective for use as educational media because it can increase target knowledge. Research Purposes: To produce a flip sheet media about early DM disease education in Posbindu RW 03 Desa Malakasari that can be used in early detection of DM disease. Methodology: RnD with 4D module approach. Conducted at Posbindu. Qualitative research samples used 5 cadres with 'purposive sampling' technique, interview guideline instruments, descriptive analysis of media feasibility questionnaire instruments, quantitative descriptive analysis using percentage and 'mean' formulas. Abstract

Safranin is a cationic dye and is one of the harmful substance, in addition to its relatively expensive price, safranin waste also has several harmful effects on health, so the various studies on the use of natural dyes as an alternative of safranin have been widely carried out. Teak leaves are one of the plants that have the potential to used as an alternative of safranin because they contain anthocyanin compounds. This study aims to determine the concentration and optimal contact time of teak leaf extract that can be used as an alternative of safranin. The research method used is a quasi-experiment by providing treatment with 25%, 50%, and 100% concentration variations also contact time variations of 0.5, 1, and 1.5 minutes. The results showed that teak leaf (Tectona grandis) extract could be used as an alternative of safranin in Gram staining of E. coli and S. aureus. The conclusion of this study is that the optimum concentration of teak leaf extract is 50%, and the optimum contact time of teak leaf extract in Gram staining is 0.5 minutes.
