Abstract

This study aims to develop e-big book learning media based on problem-based learning model in improving reading comprehension skills of grade IV elementary school students. The research method used is research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The e-big book media was developed using Canva and Book Creator applications, and validated by material experts, media experts, and linguists. The validation results showed that this media was very valid with an average percentage of 91%. The practicality test was conducted with teacher and learner response questionnaires, which showed that this media was very practical to use in learning. Furthermore, the effectiveness test based on the pre-test and post-test results showed a significant increase in students' reading comprehension. Thus, e-big book based on problem-based learning proved to be valid, practical, and effective in improving the reading comprehension skills of grade IV elementary school students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the less than optimal implementation of Pancasila Education learning carried out by teachers, so that it has an impact on the low learning outcomes of students in class IV SDN 13 Kubu Gulai Bancah Bukittinggi City. This study aims to describe the improvement of student learning outcomes in Pancasila Education learning by using the Learning Cycle (LC) model assisted by Wordwall Media in Class IV SDN 13 Kubu Gulai Bancah Kota Bukittinggi. This research is a class action research (PTK) that usses qualitative and quantitative approaches. It was carried out in two cycles, where cycle I consisted of two meetings and cycle II consisted of one meeting. Each cycle includes four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were teachers and students of class IV SDN 13 Kubu Gulai Bancah Bukittinggi City. Data from the study were obtained from the teaching module assessment, implementation process, and learning outcomes. Data collection techniques using observation, tests and non-tests. The results showed an increase in: a) Teaching module cycle I with an average of 86.56% (Good) and cycle II 94.44% (Very Good), b) Teacher activities in the implementation of cycle I with an average of 81.93% (Good) and cycle II with an average of 91.66% (Very Good), while student activities in the implementation of cycle I with an average of 81.93% (Good), and cycle II 91.66% (Very Good), c) Assessment of student learning outcomes in cycle I obtained an average of 77.02 and cycle II obtained an average of 88.64. Based on these results it can be concluded that the Learning Cycle model assisted by Wordwall media can improve student learning outcomes in learning Pancasila Education in class IV SDN 13 Kubu Gulai Bancah Bukittinggi City.

Abstract

The study aims to develop cultural heritage teaching materials assisted by wordwall using the Problem Based Learning model in grade V of elementary school. The study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model consisting of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The trial subjects were conducted at SDN 158507 Sarudik and for the research subjects were conducted at SDN 152977 Sarudik1 and SDN 154499 Sarudik 2. Validation data collection was carried out by means of a questionnaire given to the three validators, material experts, language experts and media experts, as well as a practicality questionnaire filled out by teachers and students at the end of the learning. The results of the study showed that cultural heritage teaching materials assisted by wordwall obtained a material validation result of 76.25% (valid). Language validation was 76.6% (valid) and for media experts 87.5% (very valid). Practicality test in the trial school obtained results of 93.13 (very practical) student responses and 100% teacher responses and the results of the practicality test in the two research schools obtained 90.9% (very practical) trial teacher responses reached results of 90.6% (very practical). The effectiveness test in the trial school achieved results of 89.1% (very effective) and both research schools achieved results of 90.9% with a very effective category. The conclusion of the study is that cultural heritage teaching materials assisted by wordwalls using the Problem Based Learning model are proven to be valid, practical, and effective in supporting the learning process in grade V of elementary school.

Abstract

This study is a qualitative research examining the perspectives of undergraduate students who are majoring at Child Development enrolled in the course "Storigami in Child Development." at a university. To analyze changes in students’ perceptions of the Storigami technique, open-ended questions were asked at the beginning and end of the semester. Additionally, their opinions on the course were assessed through reflective writings throughout the semester. This study represents the second phase of a curriculum development initiative designed to integrate the highly effective Storigami technique into Child Development programs as a course. In this regard, it aims to investigate the effectiveness of the implemented curriculum. The results indicate a positive improvement in students’ perceptions throughout the course. They reported improvements in their storytelling, creativity, and paper-folding skills. Additionally, their knowledge became more informed and extended thanks to the course content. Beyond its contribution to the literature, this study provides various recommendations for Child Development students, preschool teachers, and teacher candidates.
