Abstract

Education is not only about transferring knowledge, but also developing critical and creative thinking skills in students. One of the approaches that can be used to realize this goal is through the application of the philosophy of science in education, especially at the elementary school level. The purpose of this study is to understand how the principles of philosophy of science can be applied in the learning process in elementary schools, as well as to assess their impact on the development of students' critical and creative thinking skills. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to explore the application of philosophy of science in building critical and creative education at SDN Rantau Pangeran. The results of this study show that the application of philosophy of science in learning at SDN Rantau Pangeran has had a significant positive impact on students' critical and creative thinking skills. Through this approach, students not only receive information passively, but are also invited to actively ask, analyze, and solve problems in a more in-depth way. The application of the philosophy of science successfully encourages students to think logically, systematically, and creatively, which is reflected in the improvement of their critical thinking skills and creativity which can be measured through tests and observations.

Abstract

Information technology created revolution in the utilization of internet technology. People have been persuading to use internet by replacing newspaper and television. Nowadays, mobile, laptop and other types of gadget are used to watch film. It has been creating challenges day by day to the movie theatre industry. This study aimed to help in formulation of policy at different period for survival of the movie theatre industry in the gradual snowballing phase of internet technology. This research highlighted the causes of decline in watching the film in movie theatre. The public attraction towards movie theatres down falling day by day in Janakpurdham due to cheaper availability of internet as well as flexibility to watch movie at home. These conditions have been forcing the movie theatre industry towards failure in Janakpurdham.

Abstract

Primary education has a very significant role in forming the foundation of a critical mindset in children. At this stage, students should begin to be taught how to understand information in depth, make informed judgments, and develop the ability to make decisions based on logical reasoning. This research aims to develop the critical thinking patterns of students at SD Negeri 2 Sumber Harum through the application of philosophical epistemology in learning. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design to explore the application of philosophical epistemology in learning to improve the critical thinking of students at SD Negeri 2 Sumber Harum. The results of this study show that the application of philosophical epistemology in learning at SD Negeri 2 Sumber Harum significantly improves students' critical thinking skills. Through learning methods such as group discussions, debates, and case studies, students not only understand the subject matter more deeply, but are also able to analyze, evaluate, and construct logical arguments. This improvement was seen in the results of the critical thinking test, which showed an increase in the average score from 58 to 76 after the intervention. In addition, students also began to show higher confidence in expressing opinions and being actively involved in the learning process.

Abstract

The level of literacy and numeracy of students in Indonesia is still concerning, especially at the basic education level. At SDN Sumber Agung, which is in a rural environment, the challenge of improving literacy and numeracy is quite complex. Ki Hadjar Dewantara, an Indonesian education figure, has laid important foundations in the philosophy of national education. Ki Hadjar Dewantara's thinking emphasizes the importance of liberating education, namely education that can develop students' potential holistically, both in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The purpose of this study is to analyze the application of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's philosophical values in improving literacy and numeracy at SDN Sumber Agung and identify effective learning strategies based on local wisdom. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to explore the application of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's philosophical values in improving literacy and numeracy at SDN Sumber Agung. The results of this study show that the application of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's philosophical values at SDN Sumber Agung has succeeded in significantly improving students' literacy and numeracy skills. This is evidenced by the average score of students' literacy increased from 72 to 85 after one semester of applying methods based on local wisdom, such as the use of folklore in learning. Likewise in the numeracy aspect, the average score of students increased from 68 to 82 through contextual learning approaches, such as counting crops or using simple props.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) model in enhancing students’ understanding of the Akidah Akhlak subject at SDN 77/I Penerokan, Bajubang District, Batang Hari Regency. The PJBL method was applied over one month in November 2024, involving students in real-world application-based projects, such as creating posters on ethical values, group discussions, and presentations. The results show that the PJBL method significantly improved students’ learning outcomes, with the average score rising from 65 to 80. The percentage of students meeting the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) of 75 increased from 28% to 84%, while the percentage of students not meeting the KKM decreased from 72% to 16%. Additionally, student participation in the learning process increased from 35% to 85%, demonstrating that PJBL effectively boosted student motivation and active engagement. PJBL also positively impacted the development of 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and effective communication. These findings support Thomas (2000), who stated that PJBL enhances student engagement through practical and applicable learning approaches, and Hmelo-Silver (2004) in (Indah et al., 2024), who confirmed that PJBL effectively improves students’ abilities to solve complex problems and work collaboratively in groups. However, the study noted several challenges, including difficulties in task distribution during the initial implementation phase and time management issues. These obstacles were addressed through additional teacher guidance, schedule adjustments, and more structured task allocation. Overall, the results of this study indicate that PJBL is an innovative and effective teaching method for improving students’ understanding of Akidah Akhlak material while simultaneously developing non-academic skills. With its real-world project-based approach, PJBL creates more practical, meaningful learning experiences and motivates students to engage in active learning. The study recommends implementing PJBL in other subjects at the elementary level to improve overall teaching quality. Additionally, intensive training and continuous evaluation are needed to enable teachers to design and execute PJBL optimally. With further development, PJBL can serve as a solution to enhance the quality of education at the elementary level, particularly in value-based learning such as Akidah Akhlak.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the fact that the teacher only introduces english vocabulary only through by the singing method, which in reality only teach basic vocabulary definitions. The purpose of this study was to determine how influenced the english singsing animation media are at teaching english vocabulary of group B children at Taman Kanak-kanak Kartika 1-63 in Padang City. This kind of study uses a one-group pretest-posttest design model and is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. Data analysis compares two groups using uji-t. Based on the sig value (2-tailed) it is 0.004<0.05. Thus, english singsing animation media affect kid english vocabulary early age.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students at school. This research aims to determine the effect of the project based learning model assisted by pop up book media on student learning outcomes in class IV science learning at SD Negeri 33 Sawahan Padang Timur. This type of research is experimental research. The population of this study was all students in class IV-C and IV-D at SDN 33 Sawahan Padang Timur for the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 55 students. Samples were taken by random sampling, students were obtained from class IV-C as the experimental class and class IV-D as the control class. Data collection techniques use tests. The research results showed that the average learning outcome after being given treatment in the experimental class was 83.19 and the average for control class students was 76.64. hypothesis testing shows and. Because it is 1.961 < 2.013, the hypothesis H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that the project based learning model assisted by pop up book media has no effect on student learning outcomes in class IV science and science learning at SD Negeri 33 Sawahan Padang Timur.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the role of animated film media in improving the socio-emotional development of children aged 5-6 years at TK Haholongan, Siundol Julu Village, Sosopan District, Padang Lawas Regency, during the 2023-2024 academic year. To collect data, the researcher used the classroom action research method, employing observation, interviews, and pre-tests. The study involved 11 children, consisting of 4 boys and 7 girls. The results indicate that children's socio-emotional development improved following interventions using animated film media. During the pre-test in the pre-cycle, the percentage of socio-emotional development was 36.36% (4 children) categorized as "starting to develop," and 63.63% (7 children) categorized as "not yet developing." In Cycle I, improvement was observed, with 5 children (45.45%) categorized as "developing as expected," while 6 children (54.54%) remained in the "starting to develop" category. In Cycle II, significant progress was noted, with 9 children (81.81%) categorized as "developing very well," and 2 children (18.18%) categorized as "developing as expected." Thus, animated film media can effectively enhance the socio-emotional development of children aged 5-6 years at TK Haholongan, Siundol Julu Village, Sosopan District, Padang Lawas Regency, during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Example Non Example learning model in improving students' learning outcomes in Islamic Education (PAI) at elementary school level. The Example Non Example model is used to teach Islamic concepts more clearly by comparing examples that align and do not align with Islamic teachings. This research adopts a quantitative approach with an experimental design, involving pretest and posttest to measure the difference in students' learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the learning model. The sample consisted of 30 students, and the learning process was carried out over 6 weeks. The results of data analysis revealed a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes after the implementation of the Example Non Example model. These findings indicate that this learning model is effective in enhancing students' understanding and learning outcomes in the subject of Islamic Education. The implications of this study provide a contribution to the development of more interactive and effective PAI learning strategies at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Islamic education is rooted in ontological principles that emphasize human existence as faithful and responsible beings. This study aims to analyze the Islamic ontological perspective in character building among students at SD Negeri 02 Karang. Islamic ontology, which focuses on the essence of existence and the relationship between humans and Allah SWT, serves as an essential foundation in the development of character values. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three respondents: two male teachers and one female teacher, along with photographic documentation of the interviews. The findings indicate that the implementation of Islamic ontological values, such as faith, sincerity, and responsibility, plays a significant role in shaping students' character. Teachers utilize an integrative teaching approach, connecting spiritual values with the school curriculum. This study concludes that understanding Islamic ontology can be a strategic approach to fostering a generation with character and integrity.
