Abstract

Environmental issues are crucial issues that directly impact people's quality of life. Issues such as waste accumulation, poor environmental hygiene, and minimal ecological awareness demonstrate that environmental damage is not only caused by technical factors, but also by weak community values and behavior. This community service activity aims to increase community awareness and participation in environmental protection through an Islamic da'wah approach. Therefore, researchers conducted a socialization program in Kaliancar Village, Wonogiri. The program, which was held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, attracted 45 participants, consisting of 20 men and 25 women, at the Al Amin Mosque in Kaliancar. The program included lectures, practical activities in sorting organic and inorganic waste, and a question-and-answer session. After this socialization is carried out, participants are expected to be able to preserve the surrounding environment by managing waste by sorting organic and inorganic waste, such as plastic. Plastic can be reprocessed into new useful products. In addition, the community can preserve the environment by planting oxygen-producing plants.

Abstract

Limited legal literacy among criminal defendants remains a significant challenge to ensuring procedural justice in Indonesia's criminal justice system. This community service project addresses this issue by providing direct legal assistance to a defendant in a motorcycle theft case, emphasizing the protection of procedural rights and the realization of a fair trial. The program employed courtroom legal representation, legal consultation, and case analysis based on judicial documents and trial proceedings. The findings reveal three major issues: defendants' inadequate understanding of criminal procedures and legal rights, excessive reliance on legal counsel without meaningful participation in their defense, and the persistence of a formalistic judicial approach that prioritizes conviction over legal education and rehabilitation. The novelty of this project lies in positioning legal aid as a legal empowerment strategy rather than merely courtroom representation. Its contribution demonstrates that integrating legal assistance with legal literacy enhances defendants' legal awareness, strengthens access to justice, and promotes a more rights-based criminal justice system.

Abstract

The ability to write scientific articles is an important competency that students must possess as part of strengthening academic literacy and publication culture in higher education. However, some students still experience difficulties in understanding the structure of scientific articles, developing writing outlines, determining research topics, and applying citation techniques according to academic principles. This community service activity aims to improve students' academic literacy competencies through training and mentoring in writing scientific articles at the Mambaul Ulum Islamic Institute in Surakarta. The methods used include material delivery, interactive discussions, scientific article writing practice, and direct mentoring. The activity was evaluated using a questionnaire completed by 52 students after the entire series of activities were completed. The evaluation results showed that 51.9% of participants had a good understanding of the structure of scientific articles, 72.5% felt quite capable of developing article outlines, 63.5% were quite confident in determining research topics, and 65.4% had a sufficient understanding of citation techniques and compiling references. In addition, 61.5% of participants rated the quality of the training materials as good, 46.2% rated the training methods as quite effective, 53.8% stated that the mentoring was quite helpful in preparing scientific articles, and 44.2% were quite satisfied with the facilitators. The training also increased students' motivation to write and publish scientific articles (59.6%) and formed a more positive view of the importance of scientific publication (53.8%). These findings indicate that training combined with mentoring is effective in strengthening students' academic literacy competencies, both in terms of knowledge, skills, and motivation, thus supporting the development of a culture of scientific publication in higher education.
