Abstract

In this study, the materials used as reference are carbon steel and the copper alloy. Corrosion process is done by soaking the material in the test environment and H2SO4 solution of sea water that has collected in a glass aquarium in order to circulate properly with the aid of a pump. The length of immersion performed for 1 hour 3 times as much as 3 hours of immersion and immersion for 3 times. The purpose this study is to determine the corrosion that occurs in the material of carbon steel and copper alloys. Weight loss due to corrosion is closely related to time, in other words increasing immersion time, the greater the weight loss that occurs. The rate of corrosion test results conducted with a time of 1 hour, the average value obtained for the specimen I in of carbon steel and copper alloys in seawater solution is 0,105 mils / year and 0 mils / year. While in the sulfuric acid solution is 0,162 mils / year and 0,028 mils / year. And the rate of corrosion test results conducted by 3 hours, the average value obtained for the specimen I in of carbon steel and copper alloys in sea water solution and sulfuric acid is 1,350 mils / year and 0,015 mils / year. While in the sulfuric acid solution is 1,400 mils / year and 1,306 mils / year.

Abstract

Object of this study is a 2-ton capacity manual lifting equipment manufactured by students of Mechanical Enginering Departement of Sam Ratulangi University. The purpose of the study is to develop a pneumatically control lifting equipment as an alternative to the manual controlled as a faster alternative in lifting and lowering the arm of the equipment. The results of the study is a new working system, which operates automatically in the commercial vehicle lifting equipment. The time in lifting is 14,866 sec, while in lowering is 0,084 sec. Abstract

Coconut tree (cocos nucifera) is one plant that is widely grown in North Sulawesi many benefits of the overall crop. Since sawdust coconut trunks are not optimally its utilization as a filler for composite materials is studied. In addition to eco-friendly materials are easily obtainable.This study aims to determine the mechanical properties of the composites tested bending (ASTMD 6110) and impact (ASTMD 256-00) with grain variation using mesh 250, 180, and 90 using polyester resin matrix. Optimum impact Is obtained using 250 Mesh 60% volume fraction of resinFrom the data processing Bending test optimum bending moment obtained at 250 mesh resin volume fraction of 70%, and optimum bending stress obtained on 250 mesh 70% volume fraction. For optimum deflection on 250 mesh fraction 70% volume for optimum bending rigidity is at 250 mesh 60% volume fraction. Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of service quality and satisfaction the participant of dissemination the quality of services provided by Balai Bahasa Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. The research is conducted at Balai Bahasa Provinsi Sulawesi Utara from October until December 2012.This study is using the servqual method is an instrument to measure a quality of service. The measurement of the quality of service in the servqual method is based on the five dimensions of services namely tangibles, responsiveness, reliability, assurance, and empathy. This research will measure gap between experienced services and services expected by customers..The method using questionaire which is developed into 12 questions (attributes) that can be used to measure the quality of service and level of satisfaction on the activities of the Disseminasion of Practical Bahasa Indonesia in Balai Bahasa Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. The result quality of service found between the range -0.14 to 0.28 indicating nearly ideal quality of service and level of satisfaction with the value of 88%. That indicates that the participant of dissemination satisfied with the quality of service delivered.Keywords: Quality of Service, Service Quality Method (Servqual), Customer Satisfaction Index

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of operational a of machine tools through the static testing based on the geometric characteristics of the ISO-1710 standard, with a case study on a horizontal milling machine type of UF6N Kunzmann's in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Laboratory of University of Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT). Testing includes the table alignment, the vertical motion knee alignment, the arbor with table alignment and the deviations of spindle rotation.Test results will be compared with the permitted value according to ISO-1710 standards. The results show that the magnitude of the deviation values ​​obtained from the milling machine is not meet the standard to produce a high accuracy product, but the machine is applicable for practicums of manufacturing process. Abstract

Design need the strength of material information. One information on the mechanical properties of the components is the tensile strength. Results of tensile tests are stress, strain and curveof the material. The construction of a lifting device for commercial vehicle with a capacity of 2 tonnes by students of Mechanical Engineering University of Sam Ratulangi (Unsrat) using allowable strength from specifications of the material. Reanalysis of the material used in the design results tensile strength 57. 081 N/mm2 , were classified as material stress state Fe 490 grade III to limit the allowable tensile stress of 40 to 60 (N/mm2), thereby verifying the basic  information of the design. Abstract

This research aims to determine the fuel consumption of gasoline engine mounted on a 110cc Suzuki Smash. The data taken on the motorcycle in different gear ratios and speed for a travel distance of 1.4 km. Analysis was conducted on gear ratios-1, 2 and 3 at speeds of 10, 15, 20, 25,30,35 and 40 km / h. Observations and calculations for the a set of speed indicate that fuel consumption at gear ratio-1 is 539,9, 664,3, 770,1, 927,0, dan 989,8 g / h respectively. At gear ratio-2 is 506,8, 630,7, 730,4, 832,2 dan 982,0 g / h respectively. At gear ratio-3 is 421,7, 502,2, 558,1, 529,5 dan 721,0 g / h respectively. It is concluded that the higher the speed of the motor, the betterr the rate of consumption of fuel. From the observation it was found that the test was performed at the engine rotation range of 3210 to 6030 rpm. Results demonstrate that at the speed of 10 km / h to 40 km / h it is more efficient operate with gear ratio-2. Keywords: Fuel Consumption, Gasoline Motor, Suzuki Smash 110cc.

Abstract

Filter in this research is interpreted as screening of undesirable frequency component in order to depressed it as small as possible to produce the changes of magnitude of response signal. The filtered vibration signal is in a form of the Random Signal Excitation which is generated in MATLAB Version 6.5. The signal is filtered by using Filter Chebyshev Type II. Simulation conducted repeatedly from 10 to 100 times excitation. Magnitude of Response Filter is obtained after simulation. Result is compared to its initial and expressed in the form of different percentage of magnitude between the mean of Magnitude of Response Filter because of applying Random Excitation Signal to the Excitation of Signal Impact from 10 to 100 times. Maximum different percentage of highest magnitude occurred in the simulation of 10 times excitation (57%). While the Minimum occurred in the simulation of 50 times (32%). Abstract

Interchangeability of motorcycles spare parts  is needed in case of difficulty obtaining the original in the market. This research aims to develop the software model to optimize output shaft diameter and to compare the torque  forwarded to rear sprocket of  a motorcycle. The software develop using MATLAB R2010. Optimization is performed by making objective function variables with constraints and stress deflection resulted it the shaft loaded. Optimization is carried out with the conditioning in the highest speed transmission, that is : 1 840rpm, 2 1300rpm, 3 1800 rpm to 4 3000 rpm, and 5 3500rpm. Results obtained for a 8426.41 Nm/s power standard motorcycle is shaft diameter Do=12mm and Di=1.04mm. Finally, the software calculate the inertia force in order to obtain the stress Results showed that presence of shaft diameter optimization, load balance as well as engine power was still able to be borne on the optimum diameter. With the change of the diameter of the shaft diameter of the bearing replacement is done it is the same with the outer diameter of the shaft. Key word : rear wheel axle, Optimization, Do, Di.

Abstract

The object of this study  is the production  process of the 2 tonnes  capacity lifting equipment commercial vehicle with carried out in manufacture laboratory of  the University of Sam Ratulangi. The aim of this study is to build the component, measuring the lifter parts’ processing time, and analyzing the stages of the process, and calculating the production process of the 2 tonnes capacity lifting equipment produced in manufacture laboratory the University of Sam Ratulangi. The result obtained is a commercial vehicle lifting equipment unit manually operated that can do a car lifting till 2 tonnes maximum empty heavy vehicle. The manufacturing time in every single component is 7,684 seconds with 765 units/year production target. Key Word : production process, lifting equipment, production target.
