Abstract

The development of software in Welding Strength Design have fulfill the demand of quick account and efficiency that could manage and maximize resources. This research aim to get welding strength from several loading systems in steel material using software “Smalltalk” The result of the simulation of welding strength design for butt joint, normal tension 34,286 N/mm2 with seam welding strength Fe 390. For lap joint, normal tension 44,63 N/mm2 with seam welding strength Fe 490. At T joint for ring surface, bending strength 64,646 N/mm2 with  seam welding strength Fe 590. At T joint for square surface, bending strength 79,502 N/mm2 with  seam welding strength Fe 690. Keyword : Smalltalk Software, Welding Strength Design, Welding Joint.

Abstract

This research was aimed at knowing the cutting force a lathe with several parameters: rotation condition,varied cutting depth,and constant eater motion. The influence of the machining parameters to the cutting forcewas obtained by conducting tests on KNUTH DM 1000 A lathe.on every test with changing rotation and cutting depth, the electric current can be measured with ampere pliers. From the data of the electric currenst, the power and cutting force of every test can be calculated. From the test result and interacted two way variance analysis,it was found that the most influential parameters to the cutting force is the rotation,while the cutting depth does not influential the cutting force significantly, so it can be ignored. On 300 rpm gave the average cutting force of 2166 N, on 700 rpm 918 N,and on 1600 rpm. This results show that the rotation, the lower the cutting force. Abstract

The research was to compare two types of welding, i.e. electric welding and gas welding for the strength and the yield stress of a brackets made of angle steel conform  to JIS G 3101 material.The  results of strength has been done by previous researcher (Tumurang, 2014), while this research doing the strength of gas welding. The research shows that electric welding gives a better effect than gas welding. The tensile stress is 33.865%better, and the yield stress is 48.843% better. It is concluded that the welding of the material JIS G 3101 brackets is more appropriate to use the electrical welding than using gases of welding. Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the operational feasibility of machine’s tool by testing the characteristic of static geometric based on ISO-1708 standard. The object is Weiler Primus lathe located in Sam Ratulangi (Unsrat) engineering manufacturing laboratory. Examination covered five measurements, which is harmonization to the machine base and sledge, motion alignment head move off relatively against the sledge movement, accuracy of the main spindle, alignment of rote launcher axis fuse and the axle carrier’s accuracy due to keming in the bearing press. Measurement of the five tests were done because of the limitation of measuring tools which can support the other measurements. The result of deviation value obtained from the test will be compared with allowed deviation value based on ISO-1708 standard. The measurement result of the five types of tests shows that Weiler Primus’s lathe located in Unsrat engineering laboratory is conform with ISO 1708 standard. In other words, the late posses the ability and reliability to produce a product or tool with high accuracy with an average reliability of  99,370%. Keywords: Geometric Accuracy, Machine Tool’s. Abstract

ABSTRACT Filter in this research is interpreted as screening of undesirable frequency component. In this research, the highest different percentage of magnitude for the 15, 30, 45 until 150 times of excitation can be obtained. The impact excitation signal and the random excitation signal were develop using Matlab version 6.5. The random and impact signal then filtered using Butterworth filter. The excitation of random signal was develop using Matlab version 6.5. The simulation of random signal was proceed repeatedly over 15, 30, 45 until 150 times of excitation. The simulation resulted the average numbers of filter magnitude response. Which is then compared with the impact excitation signal indicated by percentage difference. Based on the results of simulation and calculation the maximum different percentage of highest magnitude occurred in the simulation of 15 times excitation (50%). The chart of the different percentage of highest magnitude tend to be flat at the 60 times until 150 times of excitation. While the average numbers of filter magnitude response due to the random signal excitation can not be considered as same as the numbers of filter magnitude response due to the impact signal, because the difference is above 5%. Abstract

ABSTRACT                Today, Society needs a vehicle a simple , inexpensive and environmentally friendly. One alternative option is an electric gokart. In the electric gokart are a rear axle which serves to move the power and spin that comes from the electric motor to the rear wheels so as to allow an electric go-karts can run. The aim of this study as follows : First, create a simulation of the finite element method with SolidWorks software to get the voltage and the maximum deflection caused by the load . Second, making calculations manually finite element method to validate the simulation results with SolidWorks software. Third , get the dimensions of the shaft for electric gokart designed by the Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Samratulangi Manado.                Finite element method simulations with SolidWorks software has gained maximum voltage results 120,212x106 Pa., and the maximum deflection of 0.00051 mm. While the manual calculation values ​​obtained displacement / maximum displacement is 0.00045 mm. Besides the results also indicate that the maximum displacement occurs at the same location or point. Thus , the simulation results have been validated by using the results of manual calculations. The dimensions of the design is the diameter of the shaft 20 mm and a length of 1000 mm.   Key word: Gokart, Finite Element Method, Simulation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT First stage steam ejector is a part of the gas extraction system at PLTP Lahendong Unit 2 with the main function to remove non-condensable gas (NCG) collected in the main condenser continuously in order to keep the main condenser vacuum. The research aim is to determine the ability of the steam ejector actual conditions in ejecting NCG from the main condenser. Computational fluid dynamics simulations is used to analyze the flow characteristics in the steam ejector. Simulation is done by comparing the actual conditions and the factory design condition of first stage steam ejectors. Simulation resulting in the efficiency of steam ejector actual condition is 0,527 while factory design condition is 0,554, meaning there is a decrease in the efficiency by 4,87%. The simulation results show the ability of steam ejectors actual condition to eject the NCG from the main condenser is 1.402,11 kg/hr and for steam ejector factory design is 1.479,34 kg/hr. The ability of the steam ejector actual conditions is decreased by 5,22% from the steam ejector factory design conditions. Keywords: Steam Ejector, NCG, Efficiency.

Abstract

  ABSTRACT The Function of a radiator on the car engine is to cool down the cooling fluid which arbsorbed the heat from the engine. Subsequently the heat is transferred to the air that drawned by a fan. This research aim is to calculate the efectivity of a radiator during the effort of the cooling process on the engine of Toyota Kijang type 5 K, so the engine can optimally work. This research is done at the condition of idle rotation, by recording the number of the engine rotation , the temperature of drawn and leaving the radiator. Base on the results of we may concluded that radiator works efective on the cooling process with the rotation of 1700 rpm with the efectifity number is 0.502, at rotation of 2000 rpm the efectifity number is 0.52 and at rotation of 2500 rpm the efectifity number is 0.584. Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to get a design of a frame for an electric gokart. The frame serve as a foundation for putting the vehicle body, engine, steering systems, and other components. This research was conducted using structural statics calculation and mechanics of material strength that can determine the load on the frame and the maximum load that can be sustained by the frame. In this design of electric gokart frame using a ST 37 pipe tube material which has a yield strength at allowable strength at 117,5 MPa. The tube has a outer radius 12,7 mm and inner radius 12,5 mm. The results of this design is an engineering drawing of an electric gokart frame. Keyword: Design, Frame, Yield strength, Allowable Strength.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was to find the cutting speed differences which significantly affect the temperature of turning. A testing by turning the lathe by using different rotation, depth of cut and feeding movement were executed. The results of this research shows that by increasing the cutting speed of the turning then the cutting speed temperature will increase. While with a 95% confidence level, it was found that the cutting speed does not affect the temperature of the tools chips and workpiece. Thus the 4461 J/minutes heat generated does not lead to a wear of tools and life time still high. Keyword: Cutting Speed, Turning, Cutting Temperature
