Abstract

Increasing social pressure and the influence of the media on beauty standards have created significant challenges for adolescent girls in forming a positive self-concept, especially related to perceptions of body image. Dissatisfaction with physical appearance is common and risks having a negative impact on their mental health and psychological well-being. This research aims to understand in depth how adolescent girls interpret their experiences regarding self-concept and social pressure in shaping body perception. Using a qualitative approach through phenomenological studies, this research explores the subjective narratives of adolescent girls through in-depth interviews to identify thematic patterns that emerge from their experiences. The research results reveal that social pressure originating from peers, family and the media has a strong influence in shaping teenagers' body image and self-concept, both constructively and detrimentally. The participants' narratives also highlighted the importance of social support and self-acceptance as protective factors in building a healthy body image. These findings emphasize the need for education and counseling-based interventions to strengthen adolescents' self-concept and ability to deal with social pressure adaptively.

Abstract

The Unjungan Buyut Suta Jaya tradition in Pekandangan Village, Indramayu Regency, is a reflection of the harmony between Islamic teachings and local culture that are closely interwoven in the lives of the community. This tradition is not just a form of respect for ancestors through grave pilgrimages, but also includes activities of praying together, reading tahlil and manaqib, kenduri, and traditional art performances such as tarling and wayang. This study aims to examine the form, meaning, and function of the Unjungan tradition within the framework of Islamic cultural preaching and cultural preservation. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection techniques through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with religious leaders, committees, and local residents. The results of the study show that this tradition is a spiritual and social media that strengthens the bonds of residents, and acts as a means of gentle and touching preaching. The Islamic values in this tradition do not conflict with local culture, because they are symbolically reinterpreted and maintained by religious leaders so that they remain within the corridor of sharia. The Unjungan tradition also has high educational value, especially in introducing history and local wisdom values to the younger generation. Amidst the challenges of modernization and globalization, this tradition has proven to be a fortress of identity and a strengthener of the identity of the local Muslim community.

Abstract

This study examines the potential and implementation of community-based sharia economic empowerment in Legok Village, Indramayu, an area with significant but underdeveloped agricultural and UMKM potential. Despite its diverse economic potential, entrepreneurs in Legok Village still face serious obstacles in terms of access to capital, marketing, and business management, largely relying on high-interest conventional loans and minimal digital literacy. This study aims to analyze how the implementation of sharia economics can be a transformative solution. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study method, this study collected data through interviews, observations, and documentation from UMKM, sharia cooperative administrators, village officials, and the general public. The results show that the introduction and application of sharia economic principles, such as mudharabah (profit-sharing) and qardhul hasan (interest-free loans), as well as the utilization of ZISWAF (Zakat, Infaq, Sedekah, and Waqf), have helped overcome capital constraints. Furthermore, education on sharia principles in business, such as honesty, transparency, and togetherness, has begun to shape a more ethical local business culture. Economic development efforts also include the establishment of sharia savings and loan groups, the integration of sharia values into Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and the development of sharia community markets. With the support of the village government and collaboration with sharia financial institutions, this empowerment not only increases business capacity and market access but also strengthens community solidarity and social resilience through the values of honesty and trustworthiness. This study concludes that sharia economic empowerment in Legok Village has significant potential to become a model for equitable, independent, and sustainable community economic development, aligned with local and religious values.
