Abstract

The expansion of the gig economy has intensified the challenge of managing freelance workers who lack formal organizational membership, yet theoretical understanding of how leadership and climate influence their performance remains underspecified. This study examines how transformational leadership and organizational climate influence freelance crew performance within an event management company—a context characterized by temporary employment relationships, project-based coordination, and the inherent flexibility-commitment tension of gig work. Drawing on psychological contract theory and organizational support theory, we propose that transformational leadership and organizational climate function as compensatory mechanisms that mitigate the performance consequences of weakened commitment and coordination fragmentation—two fundamental vulnerabilities of freelance employment. A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was employed. A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was employed, using the Slovin formula with a 5% error margin, and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. The analysis reveals that: First, transformational leadership exerts a positive. Second, organizational climate similarly produces a positive impact. Together, transformational leadership and organizational climate explain 62.3% of the variance in freelance crew performance (R² = 0.623), representing a large effect size. Theoretically, these findings extend leadership and climate theories to freelance contexts by demonstrating that (a) transformational leadership activates relational psychological contract elements even within transactional employment arrangements, and (b) organizational climate substitutes for formal socialization mechanisms that freelancers lack. Practically, results suggest that event management companies can enhance freelance performance through targeted investments in project manager transformational leadership training and systematic climate improvements— particularly communication transparency, role clarity, and psychological safety. These contributions are tempered by limitations including a single-company sample (n=95) and cross-sectional design, indicating the need for replication across multiple organizations and longitudinal validation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the moderating role of family support on the influence of self-efficacy and leadership support on career development among female civil servants (ASN) at the Institute of Home Affairs (IPDN). The research focuses on women's career development within a bureaucratic environment such as IPDN, which tends to be rule-bound and hierarchical. This study employs an associative quantitative research design. The sample was determined using the Hair method, consisting of 150 female civil servants at IPDN. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS version 3 software. The results indicate that self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on career development, and leadership support also has a positive and significant effect on career development. Furthermore, family support strengthens the influence of both self-efficacy and leadership support on career development. However, various other factors potentially influence career development, indicating a limitation of this study in fully capturing the complexity of factors affecting career development, particularly among female civil servants. Additionally, this study focuses exclusively on female civil servants within a single educational institution. Therefore, further studies are needed to compare these findings with other professions or organizational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination of the phenomenon of disregard for the principles of halal and tayyib in the consumption practices of female students from West Sulawesi living in Yogyakarta, through the perspective of maqasid al-sharia. This study is a field study employing a normative approach. The data sources consist of primary data, namely data obtained from observations and interviews with 10 female students from West Sulawesi living in Yogyakarta, as well as secondary data obtained through a review of several literature sources. The data were then analyzed using four techniques: data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion and verification. The results of the study indicate that female students living away from home express their rejection of the halal-tayyib principle through a rejection of formal food halal certification mechanisms and a rejection of the tayyib principle—such as disregarding food quality, health aspects, and nutritional benefits in the name of consumption pragmatism. This is influenced by several determining factors, including economic factors, time, environment, and low halal-tayyib literacy among female students living away from home. From the perspective of maqasid syariah, this rejection of halal-tayyib still reflects the fulfillment of hifz din, hifz aql, and hifz mal. However, the rejection of halal labels in areas dominated by non-halal food vendors has the potential to weaken hifz din. Furthermore, if the practice of disregarding halal-tayyib continues, it may lead to the neglect of hifz aql and hifz mal. Specifically, disregarding the principle of tayyib directly implies the neglect of hifz nafs, as it can impact health and the sustainability of life.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence has transformed digital marketing through AI-generated voice-overs in short-form video content. However, empirical understanding of how voice anthropomorphism influences consumer behavior remains limited. This study investigates the impact of short video content characteristics and AI voice anthropomorphism on purchase intention, with cognitive trust as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, surveying 384 Indonesian social media users exposed to AI-generated voice content. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results indicate that content characteristics (usefulness, ease of use, entertainment) and all four anthropomorphism dimensions (appearance, behavioral, cognitive, emotional) significantly and positively influence cognitive trust and purchase intention. Emotional anthropomorphism emerged as the strongest predictor of cognitive trust. Cognitive trust significantly mediates the relationships between independent variables and purchase intention. These findings highlight the critical role of human-like vocal traits and rational trust evaluation in driving consumer purchase decisions, offering actionable insights for optimizing AI-driven marketing strategies in short-video ecosystems.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the world’s largest cocoa-producing countries; however, the competitiveness of Indonesian cocoa beans in the international market has been steadily declining. This study aims to analyze the comparative and competitive advantages of Indonesian cocoa beans over a ten-year period from 2014 to 2024, as well as Indonesia’s efforts to maintain and increase its market share in the international market, particularly in Malaysia. The methods used in this study include Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) to measure comparative advantage, Export Product Dynamics (EPD) to analyze competitive advantage, and Market Share Analysis (MSA) to assess the growth of Indonesia’s market share compared to competing countries. The types of cocoa beans used in this study are whole or broken, raw or roasted, fermented or non-fermented, with HS code 180100. The results of this study indicate that the competitiveness of Indonesia’s cocoa bean exports is unstable. Indonesia’s RCA values do not consistently exceed one, suggesting that its comparative advantage has not been maintained. Meanwhile, in the EPD analysis, the position of Indonesia’s cocoa bean exports shifts across several quadrants, indicating that its competitiveness is inconsistent within the market. The results of the MSA analysis indicate that Indonesia’s market share has declined. Indonesia has significant potential for cocoa bean exports. Therefore, various strategic efforts are needed to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s cocoa exports by improving product quality and productivity, as well as strengthening trade policies that support cocoa bean exports.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of learning agility and digital literacy on personal creativity, with work motivation as a mediating variable, among freelance designers in Malang City. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected from 290 freelance designers in Malang City through purposive sampling, based on specific criteria relevant to freelance design work. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4. The results show that learning agility has a positive and significant effect on personal creativity and work motivation. Work motivation also has a positive and significant effect on personal creativity and mediates the relationship between learning agility and personal creativity. The model demonstrates strong explanatory power, with an R-square value of 0.844 for personal creativity and 0.796 for work motivation, indicating that the proposed variables strongly explain the research model. However, digital literacy does not have a significant effect on either personal creativity or work motivation, and work motivation does not mediate the relationship between digital literacy and personal creativity. These findings imply that freelance designers and creative industry stakeholders should prioritize the development of adaptive learning abilities and work motivation to enhance personal creativity in the digital creative economy. Overall, this study confirms that learning agility and work motivation are critical factors in strengthening the personal creativity of freelance designers in Malang City.

Abstract

This study is motivated by consumer reviews of Sambel Terasi Siap Pakai Uleg "FINNA", which indicate dissatisfaction with taste quality, aroma, and doubts regarding product authenticity. Previous studies have examined perceived quality and brand authenticity separately, but limited research explores their combined effect on brand loyalty in low-cost, mass-consumption food products within the Indonesian context. This study aims to analyze the influence of perceived quality and brand authenticity on brand loyalty. The research was conducted from November to April 2026 in East Java using a purposive sampling method with 102 respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire (1–5) and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results show that perceived quality has a positive and significant effect on brand loyalty (coefficient 0.206; p-value 0.018), while brand authenticity has a stronger positive and significant effect (coefficient 0.502; p-value 0.000). These findings imply that consistent product quality and strong authenticity cues are essential in building consumer trust and fostering long-term brand loyalty in the competitive ready-to-use sambal market.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of foreign ownership on firm performance with political connections as a moderating variable in infrastructure companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2020–2024. Firm performance is measured using Return on Assets (ROA). This study employs a quantitative approach using panel data regression analysis with 207 unbalanced panel observations selected through purposive sampling. The Random Effect Model (REM) was selected as the best estimation model based on the Chow Test, Lagrange Multiplier Test, and Hausman Test. The results indicate that foreign ownership has a positive and significant effect on firm performance, suggesting that foreign investors contribute to improving corporate profitability. However, political connections do not significantly moderate the relationship between foreign ownership and firm performance. In addition, leverage negatively affects firm performance. These findings highlight the important role of foreign ownership and capital structure in determining firm performance in the Indonesian infrastructure sector.
