Abstract

Background: In general, the five leading causes of maternal mortality are bleeding, Hypertension in Pregnancy (HDK), infection, prolonged labor or obstructed labor, and abortion. Maternal mortality in Indonesia is still dominated by three main causes: bleeding, HDK, and infection. However, the proportions have changed, with bleeding and infection showing a tendency to decrease, while HDK has been on the rise. More than 25% of maternal deaths in Indonesia in 2017 were caused by HDK. Objective: This literature review aims to identify the risk factors influencing the occurrence of abortion. Method: This study employed a literature review method based on data from various electronic databases within the last five years, including Academic Search Complete, Proquest, Pubmed, EBSCO, and Google Scholar. A total of 7 articles were selected that met the criteria and were published in both Indonesian and English. Results:  It showed a significant relationship between the age of pregnant women and the incidence of abortion (p<0.05). There is a significant relationship between parity and the incidence of abortion (p<0.05). A significant relationship exists between the distance between pregnancies and the incidence of abortion (p<0.05). There is a significant relationship between the mother's health history and the incidence of abortion (p<0.05). Conclusion: The factors causing the incidence of abortion include age, parity, pregnancy spacing, and the mother's health history. Preventive measures include avoiding pregnancy at a young age (<20 years) because, from a biological standpoint, the reproductive organs have not fully developed, and at an older age (>35 years), the elasticity of the pelvic muscles and surrounding area, as well as the reproductive organs, generally have diminished. Women in this age range are at a higher risk of experiencing antenatal complications, including abortion.

Abstract

Maternal and child health issues are crucial issues in healthcare because they directly impact the quality of future generations. One of the leading indicators of a country's health is the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). A high MMR indicates low-quality maternal healthcare services, including suboptimal antenatal care (ANC). Indonesia still faces challenges in reducing MMR, particularly in areas such as Aceh Besar Regency, which has a high maternal mortality rate. The purpose of this case report is to provide midwifery care for Mrs. D in Ajee Cut Village, Ingin Jaya District, Aceh Besar Regency, and document the results in a SOAP (Social Action Plan). The first care was provided on February 14, 2025. After data collection, the mother complained of fatigue. The examination results indicated that the mother's and fetus's conditions were within normal limits. Based on the analysis, the mother, a G2P1A0 woman at 34 weeks and 5 days of gestation, was in good condition. The care provided included education on the causes of the complaints, how to manage them, nutritional needs during the third trimester, and danger signs of pregnancy. The mother demonstrated a good understanding and was willing to follow the recommendations. Follow-up care will be provided at the next visit according to the needs and development of the mother's pregnancy.

Abstract

Maternal health during pregnancy is very important because it greatly affects the fetus that will soon be born. The health in question is comprehensive, encompassing the mother's physical, psychological, social, and spiritual health. Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is a significant indicator for assessing public health. The high maternal mortality rate indicates the low quality of health services and the lack of maternal awareness of the importance of prenatal check-ups. One of the strategic efforts to reduce MMR is the provision of quality, standardized midwifery care. The purpose of this case report is to carry out midwifery care for pregnancy in Mrs P in MP  Village, Sub-district Ingin Jaya , The District of Aceh Besar, and document it in the form of SOAP. The first care was carried out on 26 March 2024. The results of the assessment showed that the mother's general condition was good, 34 weeks of gestation, with complaints of anxiety about facing labor. Physical examination and anamnesis showed results within normal limits. The care provided includes education for facing childbirth and providing emotional support, explaining childbirth to overcome anxiety, handling complaints, third-trimester discomfort, danger signs of pregnancy, teaching pregnant gymnastics, educating mothers for breast care, and explaining to mothers the signs of childbirth. The mother understands and accepts the explanation given and is willing to follow the suggested recommendations. Subsequent visits will be conducted according to the pregnancy development schedule to monitor and provide appropriate follow-up care to support a healthy pregnancy.

Abstract

Background: Anaemia during pregnancy, especially iron deficiency anemia, remains a serious public health problem in Indonesia. According to the 2021 Indonesian Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), the prevalence of anemia among pregnant women reached 48.9%. In Aceh Utara District, local health reports show that 42% of pregnant women were diagnosed with anemia in 2023. Although iron tablets (Fe) are routinely distributed by health centres, only around 65% of pregnant women adhere to the recommended regimen. Limited knowledge, negative attitudes, and concerns about side effects often drive this low compliance. This study aims to examine the relationship between pregnant women's knowledge and attitudes and their compliance with iron tablet use.Subjects and Method: This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design. A total of 85 pregnant women who visit Puskesmas Samudera, The Regency, North Aceh, were selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test to assess associations between variables. Results: Knowledge is related to the compliance of pregnant women in consuming Fe tablets with a p-value = 0.002 (p < 0.05), and the attitude of pregnant women is related to compliance in consuming Fe tablets, with a p-value of 0.012 (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Pregnant women's knowledge and attitudes towards iron tablets influence their compliance in consuming these tablets.

Abstract

Chronic energy deficiency (KEK) in pregnant women is a long-standing lack of energy intake. This is characterized by the mother's upper arm circumference (LILA) ≤ 23.5 cm. Pregnant women with KEK are at risk of weakening the muscles that assist in the birthing process, leading to prolonged labor, postpartum bleeding, and even maternal mortality. The prevalence of KEK among pregnant women in Indonesia in 2018 was 17.3%, and KEK in Aceh was 11.27%. Generally, pregnant women with KEK also suffer from anemia. The indicator of anemia in pregnant women is if hemoglobin < 11 g%. The health condition of pregnant women and their fetuses will worsen if the mother suffers from KEK and anemia. Avocado is one of the local food alternatives to address KEK and anemia in pregnant women. The purpose of this activity is to increase public awareness of the impact of KEK during pregnancy on the health of the mother and fetus, the benefits of avocado for the health of pregnant women, change public attitudes towards the utilization of avocado for the health of pregnant women and change the behavior of the public to consume avocado regularly, especially during pregnancy. The methods used were FGD, lectures, demonstrations, and anthropometric and hemoglobin examinations. The activity was conducted on May 29, 2024, from 08:30 to 13:00 WIB. It was attended by midwives in the village, integrated health post cadres, pregnant women, and women of reproductive age (WUS). The participants were 48. Abstract

Background: AIDS, or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, is the final stage of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection. HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system, particularly CD4 cells (a type of T cell), which are crucial in fighting infections. Over time, HIV can damage the immune system so that the body becomes very susceptible to disease. One of the transmissions of HIV/AIDS is from pregnant women to their children, which can be prevented by screening pregnant women, known as Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) for HIV/AIDS. VCT HIV/AIDS is a service that offers voluntary HIV counseling and testing. This service is designed to find out HIV status safely, confidentially, and with support from appropriate counseling. The main purpose of VCT is prevention, early detection, and management of HIV/AIDS. Objective: This literature review aims to determine the influence of the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women on VCT HIV/AIDS. Method: using a literature review method based on data from Google Scholar, PubMed, and Proquest. The criteria for selecting articles for review are those that meet the inclusion criteria. The search yielded 513 articles, which were then filtered, and ten articles were selected for review. Results: The 10 articles reviewed had the same goal, namely to determine the relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women towards VCT HIV/AIDS Conclusion: Knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women influence the implementation of VCT for HIV/AIDS during pregnancy. Keywords: HIV prevention, early detection of HIV, AIDS treatment

Abstract

The main problem facing Indonesia today is its still-high population growth rate. This problem can be addressed using effective, long-term contraceptives. One recommended and considered effective contraceptive program is the Long-Term Contraceptive Method, which is an implant. The number of long-term contraceptive acceptors in Indonesia is still low, namely below 5%, including in the Regency of Aceh Besar. The purpose of this study was to provide midwifery care to the implant acceptor, namely Mrs. C (25 years old), in the working area of the Peukan Bada Community Health Center (Puskesmas), Aceh Besar Regency, and document this using the midwifery documentation method (SOAP). Midwifery care for the implant acceptor was provided three times: pre-insertion, insertion, and post-inser
