Abstract

Every religion has teachings related to the best ways to cope with problems, including those caused by natural disasters. Thus, natural disasters can reshape the construction of religious attitudes among the community. Therefore, this research aims to understand how natural disasters are perceived by religious leaders in the aftermath of earthquakes in Palu and Lombok and how these perceptions impact the community's views on ideal religious attitudes after a disaster. This research employs a phenomenological approach with thematic data analysis techniques applied to research data collected through interviews with various religious leaders and community members in Lombok Island and Palu City, two regions that experienced natural disaster events in 2018. The research findings suggest that, despite the resurgence of a back-to-nature sentiment following the disasters in Lombok, for the Wetu Telu Muslim community, this sentiment carries a deeper meaning than merely promoting an environmentally conscious way of life. It signifies a return to a way of life rooted in traditions passed down through generations, a way of life that has been eroded by the modernization brought about by the proselytizing efforts of the majority Muslim group over the past five decades. In Palu City, the earthquake and tsunami disaster in 2018 has also shaped the community's perception of disasters and influenced their religious behaviors in the post-disaster society. In general, three common perspectives were identified. First, a majority believes the disaster is a form of divine admonition from Allah due to various deviant behaviors in the society. Second, some believe the disaster is a result of the shifting of the Palu-Koro fault plates, an unavoidable natural event, grounded in empirical knowledge sources and disaster facts. Third, Muslim groups view the disaster as a test from Allah. These three perspectives have essentially shaped a unique religious attitude among the community expressed in various forms of religiosity.

Abstract

In attempts to address issues in the realm of Islamic education, particularly at the adult community level, al-Quran literacy is frequently raised. Although adults are supposed to be reasonably literate in the Al-Quran, there is nevertheless a disconnect with the reality of societal conditions. It is important to give careful consideration to the process of teaching adults Al-Quran literacy through education. In order to provide individuals in East Kutai with an instructional communication method for Al-Quran literacy, this research attempts to do so. This study employs descriptive methodology and is classified as a qualitative study. According to the study's findings, adult education programs in Al-Quran literacy in East Kutai use persuasive, dialogic, and demonstrative communication styles. The government, social environment, and family environment all provide impetus for the Al-Quran literacy process. In terms of techniques, the iqro method is employed in the educational process to facilitate adult learners' comprehension of the Qur’an. In addition, an environment free from coercion and a feeling of community among adults without literacy in the Qur'an are supportive elements in the process of achieving Qur’an literacy. In the meantime, adult physical condition, a lack of infrastructure and support systems, and a comparatively short study period are the things impeding Al-Quran knowledge.

Abstract

Variety show Ms.Queen on the NET television station March 22, 2022 "Mang Osa Refuses to be in television show when viral", explicitly discusses that ‘ngondek’ is funny, liked, and makes someone viral and popular, which is the dream of most young people in the era of social media like now. This show is violating broadcasting ethics in Indonesia and can trigger imitation from the audience, especially children and adolescents who watch this program and have a positive interpretation for this show. From this, the researcher is interested in discussing further the matter of ‘ngondek’ men in the show to find out what discourse is actually offered by television to the audience, and how it is done. The researcher uses the critical discourse analysis technique of Sarah Mills who believes that texts are the result of negotiations between the writer and the reader. The results of this research show that there are clearly legible main actors in the text, namely the television institution (in this case the program creative team) who holds the power to determine the subject-object positions. By accepting to come at Ms.Queen, means that consciously or not, MO places himself as an object. Overall, the author of the text tries to present a woman's point of view to normalize Irfan's and MO's feminine performance which is difficult for a male point of view to accept. There is a text that is deliberately written that a man with a feminine performance is a funny, entertaining, and easily popular figure where the audience is directed to follow the same perspective. This also gives the same definition to other ‘ngondek’ men to be interpreted in the same way by the audience.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has left behind a wide range of effects. As a potential future learning paradigm, one of them is the hybrid learning model. In terms of appearance during lectures, whether directly or indirectly through the use of post-COVID-19 pandemic media, this study attempts to characterize the communication ethics of generation Z students at Sebelas Maret University Vocational School in Surakarta. The quantitative descriptive method is thought to be the most appropriate approach to use in addressing the study objectives. Secondary data is derived from internal data in the education sector, publications, books, and other documentation, while primary data is collected online using semi-open questions in addition to observation. It is possible to conclude that there is a lack of good student communication ethics when it comes to appearance during online learning because not all students have turned on their cameras, not all of them are dressed collared, and not all of them follow the dress code that has been established in accordance with previous agreements in a number of courses.
