Abstract

This study aims to explore the market orientation and marketing strategies applied by Islamic schools in an effort to increase the number of new students. Data was obtained using a qualitative approach with an exploratory case study design through observation, documentation and in-depth interviews with 15 resource persons consisting of foundation administrators, school leaders, marketing division, public relations and publications as well as teachers. The results showed that the market orientation of Sakinah Boarding School (SBS) is very customer-oriented, proficient in inter-functional coordination and the culture developed in the school is very market-oriented. The marketing strategy implemented covers various aspects, such as the use of social media, strengthening relationships with the community, promotional programs, and the quality of educational services. However, the school has a limited budget for marketing and the lack of understanding of teachers and employees about the importance of marketing orientation in education. This research can be used as a guide for integrated Islamic schools with the Boarding School concept in determining market orientation and marketing strategies and also taken into consideration for further research.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is the skill of creating added value by managing resources in a creative and innovative way. Starting a business as an entrepreneur involves focusing on three key aspects: the business idea, market opportunities, and competition. A business idea forms the foundation of any entrepreneurial activity and can stem from personal interests, awareness of everyday problems, or market trends. Business opportunities are then evaluated by analyzing consumer needs, market segmentation, technological trends, and socio-economic conditions. To thrive in a competitive market, entrepreneurs must develop a competitive edge, conduct thorough market research, and apply effective innovation and marketing strategies. This article takes a structured and analytical approach to offer practical guidance for aspiring entrepreneurs in building sustainable and market-responsive businesses.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of innovation and creativity in developing business products within the school environment from the perspective of Islamic Education. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research examines how Islamic values such as honesty, trustworthiness (amanah), and justice can be integrated into the entrepreneurial process in schools and their impact on students’ character and skills. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis of entrepreneurship programs implemented in several schools. The results show that applying Islamic principles in entrepreneurial activities not only enhances the quality of students’ business products but also plays a crucial role in shaping students’ integrity and responsibility. Moreover, students’ creativity and innovation in developing products that benefit the community significantly improved. These findings emphasize that integrating Islamic education and entrepreneurship within the school context not only boosts intellectual abilities but also cultivates a generation of young people with strong character, ethical values, and high competitiveness to face future challenges.
