Abstract

Building Religious Character in implementing school culture at Baiturrohman Griya Mangli Indah Jember Elementary School is an important aspect in forming student’s personalities. The school integrates religious values into school culture as part of efforts to create good character in students. The formation of religious character does not only focus on religious teaching, but also on the application of moral values that reflect noble character in everyday life. This research uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenology design. Data collection techniques use observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman analysis. Test the validity of the data by triangulation and adequacy of references. The results of this research show that the process of building religious character at SD Baiturrohman Griya Mangli Indah Jember is through Duha prayer activities, reading Juz Amma, congregational prayers, good manners, through religious activities such as Friday charity, reading Asmaul-Husnah together on Sundays. Friday, reading juz amma, memorizing daily prayers, learning Arabic and English and so on. This can raise the issue of synchronizing the school's vision and mission with what parents expect. Regarding this, teachers are supposed to be more careful in guiding students and setting a good example for them, as some kids still arrive late.

Abstract

The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach integrates academic material with students’ real-world experiences, encouraging them to apply their knowledge in daily life. CTL fosters natural learning through active student participation in projects rather than traditional teacher-centered instruction. This approach emphasizes students as active learners, enhancing their engagement and understanding. Learning interest, defined as a stable tendency to engage with specific activities, plays a vital role in shaping students’ academic attitudes. Educators play a crucial role in nurturing this interest. This study explores three key aspects of CTL in Islamic religious education at Muhammadiyah Mayangan Middle School, Probolinggo: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Data was gathered through field research methods, including interviews, observations, and documentation, supported by primary and secondary sources. Findings reveal that lesson planning incorporates CTL strategies to create structured and engaging lessons. The implementation of CTL includes seven components: constructivism, questioning, discovery, modeling, learning communities, reflection, and authentic assessment, all aimed at fostering meaningful learning experiences. Evaluation methods extend beyond written tests to include active classroom participation, such as expressing opinions, answering questions, and participating in quizzes. The results highlight the effectiveness of CTL strategies in increasing student interest and engagement in Islamic religious education.

Abstract

Instructional materials play a vital role in learning, with assessment design being crucial for evaluating learning outcomes. This article focuses on the assessment design of reading skills instructional materials through test instruments and their analysis using surveys. The study employs a qualitative literature review approach, utilizing documentation study techniques for data collection and enhanced diligence in analysis. Test instruments are essential for evaluating students' abilities, hinging on validity, reliability, practicality, discrimination, and objectivity. Language tests vary based on test-taking methods, answer formats, and assessment methods while reading skills encompass mechanical, comprehension, and extensive aspects. The criteria for test instruments include reliability, validity, practicality, discrimination, and objectivity, with design steps involving goal setting, material selection, question development, difficulty level adjustment, testing, evaluation, and result utilization. Survey-based analysis evaluates content, presentation, language, readability, graphics, and production, considering relevance, sufficiency, accuracy, proportionality, readability, and graphic quality. Well-designed instruments and materials can significantly enhance Arabic reading skills.

Abstract

This study analyzes the phenomenon of selective mutism in elementary school children and the role of gadget use in influencing the condition. Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder characterized by the inability of children to speak in certain environments, such as school, although they can communicate fluently in more familiar environments. Excessive use of gadgets is known to worsen selective mutism because it reduces direct social interaction, increases levels of social anxiety, and interferes with children's concentration. The purpose of this study was to identify the causes of selective mutism and evaluate the impact of gadget use on the disorder. Using a qualitative approach through interviews and observations of students at SDN Kaliwates 01 Jember, this study explored the factors that influence selective mutism, especially in relation to the impact of gadgets on increasing anxiety and limited communication in children. The results showed a relationship between gadget use and increased symptoms of selective mutism. Support from parents and schools was found to have a crucial role in regulating gadget use and improving children's social skills. This study recommends limiting gadget use and children's participation in social activities as an effort to help them gradually overcome selective mutism and build confidence in communicating in a wider social environment.

Abstract

The nature of science has become one of the main themes in philosophical studies, particularly from an ontological perspective. Ontology, as a branch of philosophy that discusses existence and reality, views science as a systematic effort by humans to understand the existing reality. In the ontological framework, science is identified through the existence of the subject of study, the fundamental properties of the reality being examined, and the relationship between the subject (human) and the object being studied. This research is a library study, which means that the research uses library sources such as books, journals, and articles to analyze and support the study of the Nature of Science regarding Ontological Studies. The data analysis used is content analysis. The results of this research indicate that there are 5 schools of thought within the study of ontology that explain the nature of knowledge.
