Abstract

Law no. 10 of  2008 concerning general elections states that first-time voters are those who are voting for the first time and are 17 years old or more or are/have been married and have the right to vote in general elections (and the Regional Head Election). New voters who have just entered voting age also do not have a broad political reach to determine where they should vote. So, sometimes what they choose is not what they expected. The aim of the research is to find out the preferences of novice voters in the 2020 Bulukumba regional elections. The type of research used is qualitative with a case study approach. The informants in this research were six (6) people consisting of the Bulukumba KPUD, political parties and first-time voters. The results of the research regarding the Political Preferences of Beginner Voters in the 2020 Pilkada in Bulukumba Regency are: first, sociological, the condition of beginner voters who are still unstable and have minimal understanding of politics tends to make their political attitudes and direction of support follow the family and community in the voter's environment. Second, psychologically, the emotional closeness and image of the candidate to first-time voters makes new voters participate as volunteers in supporting the candidate through campaign activities using a social media approach and competition activities. Third, Rational, the level of education of novice voters is a determining factor in voters' attitudes in determining political attitudes, where only a few novice voters make their choices through program analysis and candidate profiles obtained from various information.

Abstract

The democratic system adopted by Indonesia gives a central role to political parties as the main instrument in realizing a democratic state life. This research aims to reveal the political forces that often occur in the legislative process of making regulations in Indonesia. Using a qualitative-descriptive interpretive method and a phenomenological approach, this research explores the political forces involved in legislative making by the executive and legislature. The results show that in regulation-making, there is a power gap between the executive and the legislature. The political power of the executive tends to be dominant because they are the highest power holder. It cannot be denied that there are interests of actors in it who seek to maintain and expand their power. The formation of legal products involves the influence of political power through political processes in state institutions that have authority and power. In addition, this research reveals the political dynamics that occur in the legislative process, where the interaction between the executive and the legislature is a crucial factor. This political process includes negotiations, compromises, and competing interests between the various parties involved. Thus, regulation-making is not only the result of technical considerations and community needs, but also influenced by the dynamics of political power at the local level.

The research used a quantitative approach with descriptive research type. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling with the use of Likert scale instruments, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and simple regression analysis with the help of SPSS software version 26. The results showed that partially, the legitimacy identity indicator (X1) had an impact of 49.9%, resistance identity (X2) of 64.2%, and project identity (X3) had an impact of 66.2% on the electability of Village Head Candidates. The impact is measured through simple regression for each identity indicator. Simultaneously, Political Identity significantly affects the electability of Village Head Candidates, as indicated by the Fcount value of 916.773 with a significance level of 0.000, smaller than 0.05. The magnitude of the variable's impact is measured by the R Square value of 0.908, which means that 90.8% of the variation in electability can be explained by the Identity Politics variable. The remaining 9.2% is attributable to other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

This study employs community groupings based on categories of political culture to discern the political inclinations of Barua Village residents during the 2021 Pilkades in Barua Village, Eremerasa District, Bantaeng Regency. Employing descriptive research with a qualitative approach, the study methodology entails collecting observational data in the form of word lists devoid of categorization structures, followed by qualitative data analysis. Various methods, such as documentation, interviews, and observation, are utilized for qualitative data collection. Qualitative data, consisting of textually arranged words, is expanded without reliance on mathematical calculations or statistics for analysis. Through the classification of individuals based on their political cultures, this research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the community's political awareness and engagement levels. The study findings suggest a prevalent tendency among the Barua village community towards participant and subject political culture, evidenced by their robust political awareness, active involvement in the Pilkades process, and nuanced understanding of effective leadership. While individuals exhibit awareness of their political choices, some remain disengaged and apathetic towards political activities.
