Abstract

When Charles Dickens wrote Oliver Twist in the 1830s, crime was a major problem in London. To shed light on this problem, Charles Dickens cared about the reader and used different literary methods to be more influential and more effective in conveying his literary message towards his society. He used literary symbolism to evoke a group of additional meanings that are essential in conveying the desired meaning. His primary aim was to draw the reader's attention to the perception of meaning of what he wanted to convey about the innocent or evil individuals in his novel Oliver Twist, and the symbolism had wide ability to motivate the reader to derive deeper meanings, which enriched the novel by providing hints about the development of the novel's events. Given the importance of these narrative methods, this study decided to conduct a literary analysis to determine the extent of the effect of the role played by literary symbolism in conveying meaning in the novel Oliver Twist

Abstract

This research aims to examine the construction of values in the Manyanda tradition. The type of research used in this research is a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used in this research are through observation, interviews and documentation. The research results obtained from the field are as follows: The Manyanda tradition is a valuable tradition in the lives of the people of Nagari Talang, Solok District as one part of the traditional death procession. It has existed for a long time as part of the social structure of society, and still survives today. However, based on findings in the field, there are a number of differences in perception between various groups in understanding the value construction of the Manyanda tradition. The Nagari elite such as traditional elders, niniak mamak, cadiak pandai and bundo kanduang have different understandings from society in general, especially among the younger generation. There is a shift in the value of the manyanda tradition from a social obligation as a form of replacing the position of a person who dies socially to just being a traditional obligation. This difference in understanding and perception has an impact on a shift in the meaning of the manyanda tradition for the community at Nagari Talang

Abstract

This research activity is based on low mathematics learning outcomes. There were only 8 students who completed the KKM score, namely 65 out of 20 students. The aim of this research is to see the increase in students' grades at SD Negeri 1 Bumiratu. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research, in this research there are 2 cycles, each cycle has four stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The model applied to improve student learning outcomes in this research is the Problem Based Learning model. The Problem Based Learning model is a learning model that encourages students to know how to learn and work together in groups to find solutions to problems in the real world. Data collection techniques used are quantitative and qualitative in the form of observations and tests. From the results of this research it can be said that the use of the Problem Based Learning model can improve student learning outcomes. This can be seen from the results of the student's learning completion percentage, which was initially only 40% in cycle 1, which rose to 80% and in cycle 2 it rose again to 100%. The percentage of student learning completion increased from pre-cycle to cycle 1, namely 9.5%, then from cycle 1 to cycle 2, namely 4.5%.

Abstract

The stories in the Koran are divided into three types, namely stories of prophets, stories related to events that occurred in the past and people whose prophethood was not confirmed and stories related to events that occurred at the time of the Prophet Muhammad. One of the stories in the Qur'an is the story of Ashab Al-Kahf. The mufassir have different views on the story of Ashab Al-Kahf. At-Tabari explained in verse 17 of Surah Al-Kahf about the inclination of the sun from the direction of the cave, the sun rises facing the cave so Allah inclines the sun to the right of the cave so it doesn't hit them. In At-Tabari's Tafsir, there are many differences of opinion on interpretation based on history, as in verse 25 of Surah Al-Kahf, At-Tabari mentions two opinions. First, this verse is the saying of the people of the book. Second, this verse is an explanation from Allah to His Messenger. The difference in interpretation that exists in At-Tabari's Tafsir with the others is influenced by the period of his life among the mufassir, in where at the time of At-Tabari only interpreted verses based on the history in the interpretation without mentioning certain chapters in the verse, while other interpreters who interpreted the verses were arranged according to certain themes so that it was easier to understand one verse as explained in the explanation of the Qur'anic qiraat which was explained based on certain qiraat priests

Abstract

Increasing student learning outcomes is greatly influenced by motivation in the learning concept. Teachers can achieve this by using appropriate learning methods. The aim of this research is to increase student motivation and learning outcomes in mathematics lessons. One of the efforts made by teachers to increase students' learning motivation in Mathematics subjects is by applying methods Index Card Match. This research used a Classroom Action Research (PTK) approach and involved 26 class II students at SDN Cijagra 04, Paseh District, consisting of 13 female students and 13 male students. The research was conducted in 2 cycles during the 2023-2024 academic year. If the subject's score in the first cycle has not reached the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) score, the research will continue in the second cycle. If all subjects achieve scores according to the KKM in the second cycle, the research is considered complete. After 2 cycles, student learning outcomes increased from 86.69 in cycle 1 to 100 in cycle 2. Data analysis used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research conclusion shows that there is an increase in students' motivation and mathematics learning outcomes by implementing the Index Card Match method. Students also show enthusiasm, enthusiasm, activity, creativity and courage in expressing opinions. Student motivation towards learning material also increases, and student learning experiences become broader, which ultimately has an impact on improving learning outcomes. It is hoped that the results of this research can help teachers choose appropriate learning methods to achieve learning goals, especially in Mathematics subjects
