Abstract

Stunting is a condition when a child's height is less than the standard height for his age and is a problem of chronic malnutrition caused by insufficient nutritional intake for quite a long time. If pregnant women do not know the causes of stunting, especially nutritional adequacy in early pregnancy, it will have an impact on the attitude of pregnant women who do not apply good nutritional patterns during pregnancy. This can happen because when a child is stunted it disrupts his physical growth, immunity, and cognitive function. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of education using the stunting smart card media on the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding stunting prevention in the work area of the Telaga Dewa Health Center, Bengkulu City. This research is a quantitative type of Pre-Experiment design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The number of samples to be examined in this study were 30 first trimester pregnant women. The results showed that the average attitude score before intervention was negative, namely 28.63 and after education using a stunting smart card, a positive attitude was 37.70. The p value was obtained = 0.000 ≤ 0.05 using a confidence level of 95%, which means that there is an effect of the stunting smart card media on the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about stunting prevention in the work area of the Telaga Dewa Health Center, Bengkulu city.

Abstract

V. villosum (Blume) Kuntze shows inhibition of the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa which is usually the cause of infection in burn wounds. The aim of this research was to formulate V. villosum (Blume) Kuntze leaf extract into a cream preparation and determine the time needed for V. villosum (Blume) Kuntze leaf extract cream to heal burn wounds in rabbits. This research was a type of experimental research. The research was conducted at the University of Bengkulu Laboratory in September 2022-August 2023. The equipment used was the Ohaus Starter 3100 brand pH meter and the NDJ-8S viscometer. The materials used are V. villosum (Blume) Kuntze leaf extract, mice, ethanol solvent. Oil-in-water (O/W) phase cream formulation with 3 variations of stearic acid and triethonolamine emulsifiers (15:4), (16:3) and (17:2). Then the three formulas were evaluated for their preparations which included organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, adhesion tests, spreadability tests, viscosity tests and descriptive stability tests. The activity test against burn wound infections used rabbits consisting of groups K1 (without treatment), K2 (given 0.2% hyaluronic acid cream), P1 (given 2% V. villosum (Blume) Kuntze leaf extract), and P2 (given 2% V. villosum (Blume) Kuntze leaf extract cream). Groups K2, P1 and P2 showed perfect wound healing on day 12. Meanwhile group K1 experienced incomplete wound healing until day 14. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the cream formulations I, II and III were declared stable at a temperature of 25º and the extract cream Kuntze V. villosum (Blume) Kuntze leaves showed complete wound healing in 12 days. The results of the Kruskal Wallis test obtained p value = 0.670 > 0.05, which means there is no difference in the length of the healing process for all treatments.

Abstract

For toddlers who are stunted, processed fish food can be utilized as an additional source of healthy nutrients. This study set out to assess how supplementing fish-based meals affected the nutritional status of toddlers who were stunted. 37 stunted toddlers in Lubuklinggau City received Additional Fish-Based Food for ninety days, from September to December 2023, as part of the study's sample. This research approach used an experimental design with a pre- and post-test strategy without control. Pairwise comparison tests were employed to do statistical analysis by evaluating the nutritional status of toddlers prior to and following the intervention. The research will be finished by December 2023. 6 (16.21%) of the toddlers had improved to a normal nutritional state, according to the data. The nutritional status of toddlers differed significantly before and after the intervention, as evidenced by a p-value of 0.000 (0.05). Thus, it can be said that giving toddlers extra fish-based meal treatments for ninety days can enhance their nutritional status and lower the incidence of stunting in the toddlers who are the target population.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze the fiber content and antioxidant activity in pudding made from chia seeds and soybean juice with butterfly pea flower extract. The type of research is experimental research, with the RAL (Completely Randomized Design) method, which is carried out by adding chia seeds to making pudding with 5 treatments, namely F0 (0%), F1 (2%), F2 (4%), F3 (6%) and F4 (8%). Fiber content analysis using the AOAC method and antioxidant activity analysis using the DPPH method were carried out at the Lampung State Polytechnic Laboratory. Data processing was carried out by ANOVA and Duncan tests using SPSS 20. The results of statistical tests on fiber content showed that there was no effect of adding chia seeds to making pudding with a p-value = 0.106 even though there was an increase in each formula. The highest fiber content in F4 (8%) is 5.86% or 5.8 gr/100 gr pudding, which can meet daily fiber needs, namely 2.7 -3.7 gr/day. The results of statistical tests on antioxidant activity show that there is an effect of adding chia seeds to make pudding with a p-value = 0.000. The highest IC50 antioxidant activity was in F4 (8%) at 6090 µg/mL, even though the IC50 value was in the weak category, the smaller the IC50 value, the stronger the antioxidant was in warding off free radicals. Based on research results, the more chia seed formula added, the higher the fiber content and the higher the IC50 antioxidant activity.
