Abstract

The problem in managing payment of the Educational Development Contribution (SPP) at SMA Negeri 19 Medan lies in the system that relies on manual recording and payment cards. This creates obstacles such as delays in generating financial reports and difficulties monitoring students' late payments. To address this issue, implementing a computerized SPP payment information system is essential. The objective of this research is to accelerate financial reporting in real-time, facilitate monitoring of student payments, and provide parents with access to monitor payment statuses and receive late payment notifications. The research method employs the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as the primary framework for designing and developing the SPP payment information system. The stages include planning, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and integration, as well as maintenance. Data sources were obtained through interviews with various school stakeholders, including the school treasurer, principal, and several students. The purpose of the interviews was to identify existing problems and understand the mechanisms of SPP management. Data management was conducted using MySQL, specifically through CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, and Delete) and MySQL queries. This approach simplifies the addition and monitoring of data. The research findings indicate that implementing this web-based information system provides an effective solution to the problems in managing the school payment system at SMA Negeri 19 Medan.

Abstract

Advances in computational technology and bioinformatics have enabled efficient and accurate DNA (Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid) data analysis. This study explores computational algorithm utilization for simple DNA data analysis in bioinformatics. We implemented basic algorithms (sequence sequence, pattern matching, clustering) using Python and Biopython library to analyze 500 DNA sequence samples from various model organisms. Results show computational algorithms accelerate analysis by 70% compared to manual methods, achieving 95% accuracy in identifying sequence patterns and structural similarities. Performance analysis reveals dynamic programming-based sequence sequence has O(mn) time complexity, while hierarchical clustering requires O(n²) computational time. This study highlights optimization needs for large-scale Dataset s and parameter adjustments for specific cases. Computational algorithms prove effective in supporting simple DNA data analysis, paving the way for developing complex bioinformatics tools.

Abstract

The new student selection process is very important to ensure the quality of prospective students accepted into universities. Harapan University considers various factors, such as high school majors (science, social sciences, or TKJ), academic test results, interviews, diplomas, and academic and extracurricular achievements. The manual approach that is still often used tends to be time-consuming, inefficient, and prone to errors. This study aims to develop a decision support system based on the Preference Selection Index (PSI) method to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the selection process. The PSI method was chosen because of its ability to evaluate criteria directly without requiring weighting. The results of the study show that the PSI approach is able to produce the best candidate rankings based on predetermined criteria. This system offers a more organized, transparent, and accurate solution in the new student selection process.

Abstract

This research aims to apply the COPRAS (Complex Proportional Assessment of Alternatives with Ranking) method in selecting the best students in class 4-3 at Harapan University, Medan. The COPRAS method is used to integrate various assessment criteria, such as GPA, attendance, attitude, activeness and discipline, to produce an objective and transparent evaluation. The research results show that the application of this method succeeded in providing an effective solution in determining the best students. Based on the analysis results, Rili Aditya obtained the highest score with a utility value of 100%, so he was declared the best student among the other candidates. The COPRAS method not only increases assessment accuracy, but also encourages the creation of healthy competition among students. By implementing a decision support system based on the COPRAS method, educational institutions can evaluate student performance more consistently and effectively

Abstract

Apple quality is a crucial aspect in the agriculture and food processing industry, quality assessment is essential to meet consumer standards and ensure customer satisfaction. This research explores the use of K-nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm optimized with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for apple quality classification based on the attributes of size, weight, sweetness, crispness, juiciness, ripeness, and acidity. The dataset used contains 4000 apple samples that have been measured and evaluated based on these attributes. The results showed that setting the population size and inertia weights in the PSO algorithm successfully optimized the performance of KNN in apple quality classification. The combination of population size and inertia weight in the PSO algorithm can increase KNN's accuracy to 91.15% with a recall value of 89.53% and precision of 92.59%. This research also has a better accuracy value than previous research on apple quality classification.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology has impacted various sectors, including tourism. Medan, as one of the metropolitan cities in Indonesia, has experienced a significant increase in tourist visits, leading to heightened competition among hotels. This study aims to develop a decision support system (DSS) for selecting the best hotel in Medan using the EDAS (Evaluation Based on Distance From Average Solution) method. This method was chosen for its ability to assess alternatives based on their distance from the desired average solution, in accordance with relevant criteria. The study considers five criteria in hotel selection: price, location, hotel rating, facilities, and room type. As a sample, five popular hotels in Medan were used for the analysis. In the calculation using the EDAS method, a decision matrix is first created based on the weighted values of the criteria. Then, the average value for each criterion is calculated, followed by the computation of positive and negative distance matrices for each alternative. The results show that the EDAS method can assist in making objective and measurable decisions to select the best hotel, based on user preferences that take into account various aspects such as price and facilities. This study is expected to contribute to the development of DSS for the hotel industry, particularly in Medan, in order to enhance tourists' experience in choosing a hotel that suits their needs and budget.

Abstract

The selection of the right laboratory assistant is very important to support practicum activities in the laboratory. The complex selection process requires a systematic approach to assessing candidates based on various criteria, such as GPA, semester specialty, programming knowledge test, interview test. The Multi-Attributive Border Approximation Area Comparison (MABAC) method is one of the methods in multi-criteria decision-making that can be used to solve this problem. MABAC offers an effective approach to evaluating and ranking candidates based on the weight of predetermined criteria. This study implements the MABAC method in SPK for the selection of laboratory assistants, with the aim of improving objectivity and accuracy in the selection process. The results of this system show that MABAC is able to provide consistent and reliable recommendations in determining the most suitable candidates as laboratory assistants.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a dynamic key-based Vigenère Cipher algorithm as a solution to improve the security of text messaging. Vigenère Cipher is one of the classical cryptographic methods that has a weakness against frequency analysis, especially when the key used is static. In this study, we propose a new approach by implementing a dynamic key that changes every time a message is sent. This dynamic key is generated through a pseudorandom algorithm that considers the time of transmission and the characteristics of the message. The research methodology includes analyzing cryptography theory, algorithm implementation, and testing the effectiveness and efficiency in encrypting and decrypting messages. The test results show that the developed algorithm not only improves message security through higher key complexity, but also maintains the speed of encryption and decryption processes. In addition, analysis of various message delivery scenarios shows that the algorithm is able to overcome frequency analysis attacks that are often a threat in traditional cryptographic methods. With these results, this research makes a significant contribution to the development of more secure and practical text message security systems, and opens up opportunities for further applications in the field of modern cryptography.

Abstract

Computer lab facilities play a crucial role in supporting the learning process, particularly in the fields of engineering and technology. However, the manual reporting system for facility damages at the Computer Engineering Department, Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya, is often inefficient and poorly documented. This study aims to analyze the impact of implementing a digital reporting system using QR Code technology on students' understanding and responsibility in maintaining lab facilities. The research employed the Agile Software Development method, encompassing five stages: requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment. Data were collected through interviews, literature reviews, as well as pre-test and post-test surveys using a Likert scale questionnaire. The results revealed a significant improvement in reporting experience (96.4%) and awareness of facility maintenance (92.8%) following the system's implementation. The system effectively facilitated real-time reporting of facility conditions by students and enhanced the efficiency of damage handling by technicians. Challenges, such as data input errors and QR Code sticker distribution, were addressed with corrective measures. This research contributes to the sustainable management of educational facilities and recommends further refinement to optimize the system.

Abstract

The use of engaging and interactive educational media is essential to support the development of early childhood, especially in introducing human body parts. This study aims to develop and evaluate an educational video based on animation and songs designed to enhance young children's understanding. The research methodology employs a mixed-method approach (qualitative and quantitative) using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) model, which includes six stages: concept, design, material collection, assembly, testing, and distribution. Observations were conducted on 10 toddlers at a daycare in Depok, while quantitative data were collected through questionnaires completed by media and learning content experts. The results of material and media validation tests show that the animated video is highly feasible for use (score 89.2%) and effective in improving children's understanding (effectiveness 84.75%). The video is considered user-friendly, interactive, and presents content that is engaging and suitable for early childhood. The songs included in the video aid in enhancing children's memory of the learning material. However, aspects such as the structure of material delivery and interactivity elements can be further improved. This study concludes that the combination of animation and songs in educational videos significantly enhances young children's understanding of body parts. These findings open opportunities for developing more interactive and effective multimedia-based learning media to support early childhood education.
