Abstract

Electronic noses have been developed as an artificial sense to imitate the human nose based on volatile gases. They have been used in agriculture to monitor and predict fruit qualities such as ripeness and chemical contents. Electronic noses with semiconductor gas sensors have a limitation of volatile gases detected. Therefore, optical electronic noses using an output coupler become an alternative due to the wavelength dependency of the gas types. The ripeness of oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFBs) is one of the main factors in determining the quality of crude palm oil. Electronic detection is preferable to substitute the manual methods for ripeness detection. This study built an optical electronic nose and analyzed the wavelength dependence on the detection performance. The electronic nose consisted of an infrared LED and a photodiode enclosed in a chamber, a microcontroller, and a sample chamber. We tested four infrared LEDs with 760, 780, 840, and 910 nm wavelengths. The samples were fruitlets taken from oil palm FFBs, previously categorized as unripe, ripe, and overripe. The fruits were grounded, inserted into the sample chamber, and preheated to increase the volatile gas concentration.  Trapezoid areas represented the time-varying output voltages for each LED. The results showed that overripe fruits had slightly higher trapezoid areas. LED of 840 nm wavelength obtained higher trapezoid areas. LED of 780 nm was the best candidate for the electronic nose due to linearity in increasing trapezoid areas. The results showed the potential of the optical electronic nose for oil palm fruits.

Abstract

The development of the food and beverage industry has led to an increasing demand for the availability of liquid sugar. To ensure the hygiene of liquid sugar products, quality control is necessary, one of which is through microbiological analysis. This study aims to identify the presence of Salmonella sp. in liquid sugar produced by PT XYZ using microbiological and genetic analysis methods. The methods applied include bacterial inoculation on Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate (XLD) agar as a specific medium and Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) to detect bacterial DNA. The results showed no color changes in the XLD medium that would indicate the presence of Salmonella sp. Additionally, the RT-PCR results did not show amplification in the samples, except for the positive control. This indicates that the tested liquid sugar products are free from Salmonella sp. contamination, demonstrating the effectiveness of good sanitation and storage practices during production.

This study aims to detect the level of risk of fraud in the company's financial statements. The variables used to achieve the research objectives were accrual quality which was proxied with RSST, financial performance proxied by change in receivable, change in inventory, change in cash sales and change in earnings. To detect the risk of financial statement fraud as a dependent variable in this study, the F-Score value is used which is the sum of  the variables of discretionary accrual and financial performance. The population of this study is state-owned companies in the Basic Materials & Infrastructure Sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023. In this study, the sample used was as many as 12 state-owned companies in the Basic Materials & Infrastructure Sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023. The type of data used is secondary data in the form of annual financial statements of state-owned companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023. Hypothesis testing was carried out by multiple linear regression methods. The results of this study show that the variables of financial target and external pressure have an effect on financial statement fraud. This study does not prove that financial stability, ineffective monitoring nature of industry, total accrual to total assets, change in auditor and change in director have an influence on financial statement fraud. Therefore, it can be concluded that the variables in fraud diamond can be used in detecting financial statement fraud.

Abstract

Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago, rich in marine resources. However, the management of these resources faces a number of challenges, including overexploitation, climate change and uncoordinated policies. This research aims to assess how blue accounting, marine policy and climate change affect the sustainability of marine ecosystems. Blue accounting is a strategy for measuring the economic, social and environmental value of marine ecosystems. It supports environmentally sound business practices and increases transparency in the management of marine resources. Marine policies, such as the World Maritime Axis vision and PIT, aim to ensure the sustainable use of the oceans. However, overlapping regulations, resource exploitation and climate change impacts such as extreme weather events and sea level rise are degrading marine ecosystems and threatening coastal communities. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach to explore the relationship between these three factors. The results show that the implementation of blue accounting and appropriate marine policies, coupled with climate change mitigation, can maintain the sustainability of marine ecosystems and support sustainable economic development.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a severe health problem due to its increasing number (20%) per year, and is the number one cause of death compared to cervical cancer. The prevention and finding of breast cancer at an early stage is an important effort because, in addition to freeing women from the incidence of breast cancer, it suppresses relatively expensive treatment costs. Early detection of breast cancer can be conducted by breast self-examination (SADARI) because by conducting SADARI, it can be recognized whether there is a tumor or abnormality in the breast. SADARI is the most effective and efficient method to detect breast cancer at an early stage. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education on WUS's knowledge and attitudes toward early detection of breast cancer (SADARI). The subjects in this study were WUS (Wanita Usia Subur) in the working area of the Sukaraja Health Center who met the inclusion criteria and by the signing of an informed consent sheet, totaling 30 people with inclusion criteria: not having breast cancer, married, age between 20-40 years. The research method used was a quasi-experiment using a pre-post-test design approach. Research subjects were given an intervention in the form of health education on early detection of breast cancer (SADARI). The results showed an increase in knowledge and attitudes of WUS after being given health education. This study concludes that there is an effect of health education on the knowledge and attitudes of WUS about early detection of breast cancer (SADARI).
