Abstract

Maternal emergencies remain a leading cause of high maternal mortality in developing countries, including Indonesia. This study employs a systematic literature review and case studies of technology implementations in maternal emergency settings, covering mobile applications, early warning systems, and telemedicine. The review finds that technology adoption can accelerate clinical decision-making, strengthen coordination among healthcare providers, and enhance service access for pregnant women in remote areas. Nonetheless, infrastructure limitations, inadequate training of medical personnel, and system integration issues persist as major barriers. In conclusion, optimizing the role of technology in maternal emergency response requires a collaborative approach among policymakers, healthcare providers, and technology developers.

Abstract

Community health volunteers, especially those involved in Posyandu (Integrated Health Posts), are key agents in promoting public health. One of their important roles is participating in the early detection of pregnancy risk factors. With appropriate training, these volunteers can assist and educate pregnant women, leading to improved awareness and consistent antenatal care. Education through Video media is one of the strategies detecting high-risk factors in pregnant women. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The population consisted of 141 community health volunteers in the Jelai Hulu sub-district. A total of 65 respondents were selected as the sample. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The median score of cadre knowledge before being given video media was 45. The median score of cadre knowledge after being given video media was 100. The median increase was 55. Based on the statistical test output, the asymph sig value (2-tailed) was 0.000 smaller <0.05. It can be concluded that there is an increase in health cadre knowledge through video media in detecting high-risk factors for pregnant women.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is a leading cause of maternal mortality associated with oxidative stress. Elevated F2-Isoprostanes (F2-IsoPs) serve as biomarkers of lipid peroxidation. This study aimed to determine the effect of red pomegranate (Punica granatum) extract on F2-IsoPs levels in HUVEC cultures exposed to preeclamptic plasma. A true experimental post-test only control group design was used with five groups (n=5 each): K– (normal plasma), K+ (preeclamptic plasma), P1 (14 ppm), P2 (28 ppm), and P3 (56 ppm). F2-IsoPs levels were measured using ELISA and analyzed with one-way ANOVA and LSD post hoc tests. Results showed significantly higher F2-IsoPs levels in K+ compared to K– (p<0.05). Red pomegranate extract reduced F2-IsoPs levels in a dose-dependent manner, with the greatest reduction at 56 ppm. Conclusion: Punica granatum extract exhibits antioxidant potential against oxidative stress in preeclampsia.

Abstract

Anemia remains a global health problem, particularly among women of reproductive age. Sweet iced tea, which is widely consumed by young women, contains tannins, sugar, and caffeine that can inhibit iron absorption. This study aimed to determine the relationship between sweet iced tea consumption and the risk of anemia among female students at Setia Budi University, Surakarta. This analytical observational study used a cross-sectional design with 68 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and blood tests (hemoglobin and erythrocyte indices). Data were analyzed using Fisher’s Exact test. The results showed no significant relationship between sweet iced tea consumption and the risk of anemia (p=0.480). Although tannins can inhibit iron absorption, moderate consumption frequency and the habit of drinking tea after meals may reduce this effect. Balanced nutrition education and healthy drinking habits are still needed to prevent anemia among young women.

Abstract

Turnover intention among healthcare workers is a global issue that significantly impacts the quality of hospital services. This study aims to analyze the relationship between work-life balance (WLB) and turnover intention among nurses at Masyithoh Bangil Islamic Hospital in 2025. The study design used a quantitative analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 81 nurses, with a sample of 67 respondents selected through a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a standardized questionnaire, while data analysis was conducted using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed that most respondents had a moderate level of WLB (67.2%) and a moderate level of turnover intention (76.6%). The Spearman correlation test produced a p-value of 0.000 (<0.01) with a correlation coefficient of -0.442, indicating a negative relationship with moderate strength. This means that the higher the quality of work-life balance, the lower the turnover intention of nurses. These findings emphasize the importance of managerial efforts to improve nurse welfare through rational workload policies, schedule flexibility, and psychosocial support to reduce the risk of turnover.

Abstract

Maternal mortality in Indonesia remains quite high, particularly due to pregnancy complications that could have been prevented through promotive and preventive efforts. The Maternal and Child Health (KIA) Handbook is an educational medium designed to help pregnant women recognize danger signs and raise awareness in preventing complications, although its use is not yet fully optimal. This study aims to assess the correlation between KIA handbook utilization rates and behavior in preventing pregnancy complications. This research used a correlational analytical design, a cross-sectional approach on 49 pregnant women selected through purposive sampling at TPMB Bidan Biastike W., SST, Pasuruan Regency, East Java. Primary data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The analysis results showed a significant correlation between the utilization of the KIA handbook and behavior in preventing complications (p = 0.000; r = 0.721) with a positive direction and high correlation strength. This finding confirms that the better the utilization of the KIA handbook, the better the behavior in preventing complications in pregnant women.

Abstract

Uterine myoma or fibroid is a type of benign tumor that develops from the smooth muscle tissue of the female uterus. Treatment of uterine myoma with clinical symptoms is generally carried out through a surgical procedure called hysterectomy (removal of the uterus). Postoperative patients often experience anxiety influenced by various factors, including persistent pain, concerns about the recovery process, uncertainty regarding home care, and changes in performing daily activities. This study aims to provide nursing care to patients with uterine myoma experiencing postoperative anxiety after hysterectomy, so that patients and their families can become more independent in preventing, improving, and maintaining the health of themselves, their families, and their environment to achieve optimal well-being at Jombang General Hospital (RSUD Jombang). This research employed a case study method involving two uterine myoma patients with postoperative hysterectomy anxiety, conducted over 3 days at RSUD Jombang. The results showed that the anxiety of 2 patients was resolved after nursing care interventions and evaluations were carried out for 3 days.

Abstract

Background: Diabetic ulcers are a complication of diabetes that has a physical, mental, and economic impact on patients. Telenursing can help in the early detection process to prevent complications. Aim: to review the literature on the application of telenursing-based instruments for early detection of the risk of diabetic ulcers. Methods: literature study through PubMed, ScienceDirect, and manual search using the keywords diabetes mellitus AND foot screening AND diabetic foot ulcer. The search process follows PRISMA rules.  Results: Obtained 6 articles. from several countries, namely China (n=2), the United Kingdom (n=1), Spain (n=1), Indonesia (n=1), and does not explain the country of origin (n=1). The instruments developed are questionnaires that can be used by health workers or patients independently (n=4), in the form of a smartphone application (n=1), and in the form of an automatic learning machine (n=1). All instruments that have been developed are valid and reliable and have high sensitivity and specificity for screening the risk of diabetic ulcers. In addition, there is an instrument questionnaire that requires users to understand how to check the function of foot sensations using a 10-g monofilament or the Ipswich Touch method.  Conclusion: There have been various types of instruments for early detection of the risk of diabetic ulcers that allow patients to carry out early detection independently. In addition, the existing instruments are easy to use and do not require any special training.
