Abstract

This study aims to examine differences in the company's financial ratios before and after the Initial Public Offering (IPO) in terms of profitability, solvency, liquidity, activity and growth ratios. This study uses quantitative research by conducting a different test analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and the ANOVA test on the financial statements of all companies (except finance) that have conducted IPOs for the study period. Based on the test results, it can be seen that the trend of financial performance in terms of profitability, solvency, liquidity, activity and growth ratios shows a decline trend in the ratio of profitability, solvency, liquidity, activity and growth. Based on the results of the different test using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test method, it is shown that the ratios of profitability, solvency, liquidity, activity and growth have differences before and after the IPO. Based on the ANOVA test to analyze the average change in the sample, it is known that the ROE ratio changes in the sample average, while the DER, CR, Asset Turnover and Sales Growth ratios do not change in the sample average.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of cash flows from funding activities or financial (CFF), investment (CFI), and operations (CFO) on Return on Assets (ROA) in the banking sector in Indonesia. Data was obtained from 40 banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2010–2022 and analyzed using a fixed effects model panel regression. The results showed that only CFOs had a significant influence on ROA, but in a negative direction, indicating that an increase in operating cash flow was actually correlated with a decrease in ROA. CFF and CFI did not have a significant effect on ROA, indicating that funding and investment activities had less impact on profitability. The implications of this study emphasize the need for more strategic operational cash flow management to support asset efficiency and financial performance of banks.

Abstract

This thesis investigates the impact of intellectual resources on the variety approaches of financial institutions listed on the Indonesian region Stock Exchange from 2011 to 2022, within the Indonesian region's rapidly evolving financial institution sector. Utilizing panel regression analysis and Driscoll-Kraay Standard Errors to address issues like heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation, the analysis finds that structural capital effectiveness enhances asset variety, while higher capital utilized effectiveness leads to reduced income variety, suggesting an optimization of income-generating assets. Additionally, financial leverage correlates with asset variety, indicating strategic debt usage in variety efforts. Interestingly, factors such as financial institution size and competition show no significant impact, reflecting the complex nature of strategic decisions in financial institution. This investigation enriches understanding of how financial institutions in emerging markets use internal efficiencies and strategic choices to navigate market dynamics, offering valuable insights for financial managers on capital structure and variety approaches in competitive environments.

Abstract

This study explores the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the performance of energy sector companies, focusing on how the pandemic interacts with company characteristics—such as size, liquidity, and capital structure— impacting Return on Assets (ROA), which is used as a key measure of company performance. It further distinguishes between fossil fuel and alternative energy sectors, as well as between companies in developed and emerging markets, to assess whether the pandemic's effects varied across these categories. The analysis utilizes unbalanced panel data from publicly listed energy firms in the Asia Pacific region from 2013 to 2023. The results reveal that the fossil fuel sector experienced a sharper decline in performance compared to the alternative energy sector during the pandemic. Additionally, significant differences emerged between energy companies in developed and emerging markets; firms in developed markets, benefiting from larger sizes, higher liquidity, and sufficient cash reserves, were generally better equipped to withstand the pandemic's challenges.

Abstract

Multinational Corporations (MNCs) have been crucial to global economic growth since the rise of globalization, contributing to one-third of the global economy, two-thirds of international trade, and employing over 40 million workers worldwide. Some MNCs are wealthier than many sovereign states, reflecting their immense influence. However, this power is often unchecked by global regulations, with MNCs operating under local laws, which in developing countries can be weak or poorly enforced. This regulatory gap allows for the exploitation of resources, labor, and the environment. In Indonesia, MNCs such as Freeport-McMoRan, Unilever, and Phillip Morris International have been linked to labor rights abuses, including unsafe working conditions and low wages. To address these issues, the United Nations introduced the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP) in 2011, built on three pillars: protect, respect, and remedy. Although non-binding, the UNGP has become a global standard for ethical business practices. This study examines how MNCs in Indonesia adapt their policies to align with international human rights standards, with emphasis in its employment practices, using a descriptive-qualitative method based on literature studies. The findings reveal that MNC compliance with the UNGP varies depending on the industry, local governance, and corporate governance. Challenges such as weak regulatory enforcement and socio-economic disparities hinder the full application of the UNGP in Indonesia. The study emphasizes the need for stronger government oversight and corporate accountability to ensure fair and sustainable employment practices in emerging markets like Indonesia.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) continue to experience growth and development to this day. In 2022, there will be 65 million MSMEs in Indonesia, which accounts for 99% of all business units in the country. MSMEs play a crucial role in supporting the national economy, especially in facing the threat of recession, and are the backbone of the country's economy. The growth of MSMEs has a positive impact on the economy both macro and micro in Indonesia. Micro and small businesses also have an important role in the economic movement of DKI Jakarta. Micro and small businesses are still categorized as businesses with low productivity and technology use. Although they have begun to have the ability to innovate and develop technology. However, micro and small businesses are still constrained by a number of problems such as access to capital, raw materials, limited employee training, social responsibility and partnerships. The purpose of this study is to see the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on financial performance and social performance mediated by open innovation in micro and small food business actors in the West Jakarta city area. The number of samples used in this study was 210 micro and small food business actors. The data obtained will be processed using PLS-SEM version 4.0.
