Abstract

This study analyzes gender bias in nyentana marriage practices among the people of Cemagi Village, Badung Regency, using Pierre Bourdieu's Theory of Social Practice Capital. Through a qualitative descriptive approach using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques, this study reveals how men who enter women's families experience shifts in habitus, social roles, and symbolic authority. The results show that even though nyentana is formally recognized in customary law and men obtain equal ritual rights after being approved as krama, social acceptance does not occur automatically. Men must rebuild their social and symbolic capital through active participation in banjar activities and other customary obligations. Gender bias is evident in three main aspects: (1) community perceptions that position nyentana men as subordinate; (2) symbolic violence through everyday language such as “follow your wife” or “megolih”; and (3) the distribution of economic, social, and symbolic capital that is not yet fully equal in women's families. For female families, nyentana is a strategy for preserving the family line and increasing the family's symbolic capital. This study recommends the formulation of more gender-sensitive customary regulations, the use of more inclusive language, and community education to reduce bias and symbolic violence in the practice of nyentana in Bali.

Abstract

Slums in urban areas are often associated with various social and health problems, one of which is the increased risk of stunting in families. Dense environmental conditions, poor sanitation, and limited access to clean water are dominant factors that affect public health. This study aims to: (1) identify the characteristics of slums, (2) identify the characteristics of families at risk of stunting, and (3) analyze the relationship between slum characteristics and the incidence of families at risk of stunting in Mantuil Village, South Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin City. The research method uses a quantitative approach with descriptive analysis and Chi-Square (χ²) statistical tests. Data were obtained through field observations and questionnaires from 100 respondents representing slum areas. Spatial analysis was conducted with the help of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map the distribution of slum areas and the location of families at risk of stunting. The results show that most areas of Mantuil Village have inadequate physical environmental conditions, with high building density and limited access to clean water and sanitation. Statistical test results showed a significant relationship between family income (p=0.000), residential density (p=0.003), feeding practices (p=0.000), access to sanitation (p=0.016), access to clean water (p=0.027), and access to health services (p=0.001) and the incidence of families at risk of stunting. Meanwhile, maternal education did not show a significant relationship (p=0.072). This study concluded that slum characteristics significantly influence the increased risk of stunting in families. Therefore, improving the quality of residential environments, providing clean water, and improving sanitation systems need to be prioritized in stunting prevention efforts in urban areas.

Abstract

To address global issues such as climate change, countries must cooperate through the implementation of strong international law. Due to its high ecological vulnerability, Indonesia must play a significant role in global commitments to climate change mitigation and adaptation. The purpose of this study is to examine how international legal instruments, such as the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), are applied in Indonesian environmental governance. This research used a juridical-normative approach, conducting a qualitative analysis of government policies, national regulations, and relevant academic literature. The study shows that Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management, along with its various derivative regulations, have incorporated international climate change principles into Indonesian national regulations. However, suboptimal environmental law enforcement, limited regional capacity, and poor inter-agency coordination remain challenges. To ensure the effective implementation of international law in the country, policy harmonization, institutional capacity building, and legal system strengthening are needed.

Abstract

This study examines the performance comparison between floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems and Ground Mounted solar power plants using an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system centered on the ESP32 microcontroller. The analyzed performance parameters include thermal and electrical factors: solar irradiance intensity, panel temperature, voltage, current, and output power. Data collection was conducted at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, during June–July 2025, with observations taken between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM Central Indonesia Time at 30-minute intervals. Measurements reveal that the panel temperature of the floating PV system consistently remains 1–4°C lower than that of the Ground Mounted system under equivalent irradiance conditions. This temperature difference influences power loss due to thermal effects, where the floating system experiences comparatively smaller power reductions than the Ground Mounted. After correcting for temperature factors, the floating PV output power was found to be higher at all observation times compared to the Ground mounted PV. These results demonstrate that the floating system exhibits superior thermal efficiency and electrical performance. The analysis confirms that implementing floating PV has significant potential to enhance energy conversion efficiency through natural cooling mechanisms, while also providing a strategic alternative for solar energy utilization in regions with adequate water resources.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the position of evidence and the dynamics of the burden of proof in disputes over government contract payments, with a focus on their implications for legal protection of business actors and the effectiveness of state budget implementation. The method used is a case study of District Court Decision No. 7/Pdt.G/2022/PN Tolitoli, involving a lawsuit filed by a private company against the local government for default in paying the remaining budget of a public market construction project in the 2018 fiscal year. The analysis is conducted normatively by examining contract documents, amendments, proof of work completion, and correspondence between the parties, as well as the evidentiary dynamics between the plaintiff and the defendant, including public officials and central government agencies. The findings reveal that the court acknowledged the validity of the contract and its amendments as primary evidence, declared the defendant in default for failing to fulfill payment obligations despite the completion of the project, and partially granted the plaintiff’s claim while rejecting the defendant’s administrative objection. Written evidence dominated the evidentiary process, while the burden of proof shifted from the plaintiff to the defendant once the initial evidence was presented, underscoring the principle that a valid agreement binds the parties and cannot be avoided on bureaucratic grounds. In conclusion, this decision reinforces both substantive and formal evidentiary practices in civil cases, promotes transparency and accountability in government contracts, protects business actors from the risks of default, and enhances legal certainty in state budget management to support a fairer and more professional bureaucratic reform.

Abstract

Increased traffic density can increase the risk of traffic accidents, congestion and traffic disruption. This is due to the very high increase in the number of vehicles every year. For this reason, we need a technology that is able to provide a solution to overcome traffic congestion. Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) is a general term that refers to communication technology between a vehicle and any entity that can affect or may be affected by the vehicle. The use of this communication can reduce traffic jams, and also provide efficiency and safety in driving. Therefore, in this research, a low-cost Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication system was designed using components such as ESP32, NRF24L01 Wireless Modules, Ublox Neo M8N GPS, and OLED display. Tests were also carried out to determine the level of accuracy of the device both in stationary and moving conditions by paying attention to the test parameters of the traffic density detection system, such as average vehicle speed, vehicle queue length, and vehicle travel time to the RSU. In this study, it was found that the level of accuracy of the device based on test parameters compared with direct measurements and manual calculations was stated to be of good accuracy. So it is hoped that in the future we will be able to carry out developments to produce better traffic density detection devices that are ready for use by motorists.

Abstract

Global digital trade has become a crucial pillar of modern economic growth; however, its rapid development presents new challenges for the international legal system. The lack of regulatory harmony among nations, technological disparities, and weak protection of economic justice highlight the need to strengthen international legal principles that are adaptive to the digital era. This study aims to analyze the application of international legal principles in regulating global digital trade and to examine their implications for economic justice among nations. The research employs a normative juridical method using statutory, conceptual, and comparative approaches by reviewing various international legal instruments such as the WTO Agreement on E-Commerce and the UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Commerce. The findings reveal that the implementation of principles of equality, non-discrimination, and economic justice remains limited due to political interests and disparities in legal capacity among countries. The discussion emphasizes the importance of reformulating international legal principles to accommodate the dynamics of digital trade in a fair and inclusive manner. This study concludes that international law must transform from a mere regulatory instrument into an ethical tool for promoting global economic justice through collaborative and sustainable digital governance.
