Abstract

This study analyzes the role of brand trust in mediating the influence of brand image, electronic word of mouth, and influencer on the purchase decision of Facetology products in Semarang. Using a quantitative approach, this study involved 149 Facetology consumers as respondents selected through purposive sampling. The results showed that brand image, electronic word of mouth, and influencer had a positive and significant effect on brand trust and purchase decision. Brand trust was also proven to have a positive and significant effect on purchase decision with the strongest influence compared to other variables. In addition, brand trust effectively mediated the relationship between the third independent variable on purchase decision. This study reveals Facetology's success in addressing the "comedogenic" issue through clarification based on scientific evidence, which strengthens brand image and builds consumer trust. These findings emphasize the importance of building and maintaining brand trust as a strategic asset in the beauty industry, especially in the digital era with a variety of product choices and information sources available.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the principle of hifz al-mal in shaping frugal living practices and its contribution to sustainable lifestyles among Muslim households in Watampone. It is motivated by the growing trend of excessive consumption, which negatively impacts both financial stability and the environment. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews with ten informants to explore their understanding and daily practices. The findings reveal that most informants perceive hifz al-mal as a religious obligation to protect wealth from wasteful and non-beneficial use. This principle is applied through careful financial management, prioritizing essential needs, and avoiding consumptive behavior. The practice of frugal living is not solely rooted in religious values but is also reinforced by family upbringing and social influences. The contribution to sustainable living is reflected in efforts to conserve energy, water, and other resources. However, most of these actions are driven by a desire for cost efficiency rather than an awareness of environmental impacts, due to limited knowledge about sustainable lifestyles. Awareness of waste management and environmental responsibility also varies among informants. In conclusion, the study finds that hifz al-mal plays a significant role in encouraging frugality that aligns with sustainable living principles. Therefore, comprehensive education is needed to strengthen the connection between Islamic teachings particularly hifz al-mal and environmental sustainability responsibilities.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning of the Bugis cultural value of siri’ and its role in shaping the consumption behavior of Muslim communities in Watampone, viewed from the perspective of Islamic economics. Using a qualitative exploratory approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with informants from different generations—Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Gen Z—to examine the evolving interpretation of siri’ across time. The findings show that siri’ is understood differently by each generation. Older generations perceive it as a strong form of social control and collective honor, while younger generations tend to associate siri’ with social prestige—or in some cases, it has shifted into a consumptive impulse that strays from its original meaning. In the context of consumption, siri’ often influences purchasing decisions, particularly in communal events such as weddings, choice of products, and the display of social status. However, a misinterpretation of siri’, known as “masiri”, has emerged, where excessive consumption is driven by the desire to maintain social image or avoid being looked down upon. From the perspective of Islamic economics, the consumption practices of the Bugis Muslim community in Watampone do not fully reflect the principles of halal, thayyib (good and wholesome), non-israf (non-excessive), and iqtishad (balanced living). A tension is evident between cultural values and religious principles, especially when siri’ is understood superficially and focused solely on external validation. This study recommends a recontextualization of siri’ in harmony with Islamic values, so that local culture can continue to serve as a moral foundation in economic life.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of financial literacy and perceived benefits on the interest in using e-wallets among students of the Bachelor of Accounting program at Dian Nuswantoro University. The development of financial technology has driven an increase in the use of e-wallets as a practical and efficient digital payment method, particularly among students. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method through an online questionnaire distributed to 85 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS version 27. The results indicate that financial literacy has a negative and significant effect on the interest in using e-wallets, while perceived benefits have a positive and significant effect on the interest in using e-wallets. Among the two, perceived benefits proved to be the most dominant factor in driving interest in usage. These findings support the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which emphasizes that the perceived usefulness of technology is a primary determinant in the intention to adopt technology. This study suggests the need to enhance financial literacy and strengthen the perceived benefits of e-wallets among students to encourage more optimal use of financial technology.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of socio-economic factors on white-collar crime in Indonesia, data taken from 34 provinces during 2017–2023. Using quantitative data taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Indonesia. This study uses quantitative analysis through panel data regression, where the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was selected as the best method after testing with the Chow and Hausman tests. The study findings indicate three main results: first, there is a significant negative relationship between the unemployment rate and white-collar crime; second, a significant positive relationship was found between GRDP per capita and the white-collar crime rate; third, the average length of schooling and the Gini ratio were found to be insignificant with white-collar crime. The findings illustrate that increased economic activity can increase the chances of white-collar crime, while high unemployment actually reduces access to strategic positions that allow for such crimes. The implications of these results emphasize the importance of good supervision and governance in preventing misuse of economic resources along with economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media, social factors, and consumer psychology on the decision to participate in the boycott movement against McDonald’s (McD) products in Semarang City. A quantitative method was employed, utilizing purposive sampling to select 163 respondents who met the criteria: prior purchase of McD products, awareness of the boycott issue, active social media usage, Islamic religious affiliation, and residency in Semarang. Data were collected through Linkert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS. The results indicate significant influences from all three factors: social media, social factors, and consumer psychology. The coefficient of determination reveals that 32% of the variation in boycott decisions is attributed to these factors. These findings underscore the critical integration of digital, social, and moral dimensions in understanding the dynamics of ideologically driven boycott movements. Practical implications include recommendations for companies to develop crisis communication strategies aligned with local values and consumer ethics to mitigate boycott impacts.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is a quantitative study with an explanatory approach, namely an approach that makes the three studies mentioned repeatedly the mainstay for developing ongoing research. The data used in this study are secondary data that researchers obtained from reports from the East Java Central Statistics Agency over a period of ten years from two thousand fourteen to two thousand twenty-four. The result in this article show that each hypothesis used in this article can be accepted. In the first hypothesis in this study, the Regional Original Income variable can have a positive relationship direction and a significant influence on GRDP. This is because the P-Values in the third table of the Path Coefficient above are positive and below the significance level of 0.05, namely 0.011. These results are in line with a number of previous studies, namely (S, 2023); (Saleh, 2020) & (Rasu et al., 2019). In the next hypothesis, the Capital Expenditure variable can also strengthen the influence of the Regional Original Income variable on GRDP. This is because something similar, namely the P-Values, is positive and below the significance level of 0.05, namely 0.000. Thus, it can be concluded that the first and second hypotheses in this study can be accepted.
