Abstract

This paper of in a flash give picture concerning interesting phenomenon is avalanche of rigid pavement at Padalarang - Cileunyi Toll road, that happened at 11 October 2002 on 3.00 p.m., and information to society, especually to organizer of toll to danger which is can happened at woke up road; street pavement rigid above land of softening. In the beginning behavioral rigid pavement of me as glazer of elastic foundation with natural frequency. Degradation of land; ground local/sub of soil that happened change rigid pavement become semi cantilever, so that traffic burden vibration frequency turn into low natural frequency. Dynamic burden of traffic result natural pavement rigid of vibration flexural. More deflection downwards and more bigly (amplification) if only frequency of forced its value vibration much the same to with frequency of free vibration. Because of rigid pavement deflection downwards detained by free lean concrete conversely deflection to up wards,hence happened by avalanche at rigid pavement accompanied by explosion because stiff concrete characteristic/brittle

Abstract

The application of concrete pavement in Indonesia started 1995, there was increase in its development but no significant, Rigid pavement type with commonly use in Indonesia is plain concrete pavement due to the simplicity in application and cheap, with typical slab thickness of 25 cm. The influence of the change composite reaction by approximately ± 25% will change the service life by ± 6%. From the analysis of slab thickness and concrete quality deficiencies, gave significant influence on pavement service life. The descrease of slab thickness by 25 mm of design thickness or the decrease of concrete quality by 20% of design quality will decrease half of pavement service life. Even though there is compensation by decreasing the payment on the contract unit price but economic analysis on disadvantages is required.

Abstract

There are two types of pavement that commonly used, namely flexible and rigid pavement. However rigid pavement is relatively new and rarely used in Indonesia compared to the flexible pavement. Meanwhile, there are many parts in Indonesia expriencing difficulty of aggregate for road material. Therefore it need imported from others areas or island. These situations not only lead to the problem of the implementation but also to the high cost of road construction. The paper discuss the need of aggregate for flexible and rigid pavement based on the analysis of pavement thickness design for each type suited to the traffic loading. Discussion indicates that rigid pavement need material not so much as for flexible pavement, just only between 42% and 75% from flexible pavement.

Abstract

Road criteria in PBC are shown by performance indicator, which have to e achieveds during service life. During this time continue monitoring to all road asset is conduted to guarantee that performance indicator requirement performed. Road pavement have to meet roughness, deterioration have to be minimise, deflection and surface skid resistance. Time allowed for treating non-compliance has to be determine to sustain the road pavement condition stable. In routine maintenance contract conventional, repairing non-compliance is detailed, while in PBC system is not. The treatment is given to the contractor initiative. This paper gives a types of performance indicator for road pavement asset which still to be discussed if PBC system will be implemented in Indonesia

Abstract

Nowadays, many types of asphalt have been used on road construction, either from domestic production or imported. Understanding of asphalt characteristics is required to determined the types of asphalt needed in accordance with its requirement. Beside penetration index, the adhesion, softening point, and maltene parameter will strongly influenced the asphalt performance on pavement mix. To fulfil the demanding quality of asphalt on road construction, the asphalt producers should have cooperation with many parties, such as additive suppliers, research and development institutions, or universities, and maintaining the ashalt quality up to project location. This paper describe more detail about asphalt characteristics, especially for penetration grade asphalt.

Abstract

There are some problem in applying cold mix cutback asphalt, among others is the low evaporating rate or unpropper evaporating of the solvent. This case makes the initiate mixture has a long curing time and a low stability. In order to ever come that problem, we would like a perform the effect of natural rubber latex on characteristic of cold mix cutback asphalt and applying it in patching. The use of a few percent of natural rubber latex in cold mix could increase the viscosity, because of polymerization process in low temperature, of asphalt cut back binder rapidly, even the solvent has low evaporating rate or unpropper evaporated. Hence, the cold mix has a short curing time and a high stability. Beside that the rubber could increase the quality of residual binder in mixture such as elasticity.

Abstract

In the line with increment of crude oil price and demand impovement of oil cause id a raisting the asphalt price. In this time, the unit price of asphalt mixtrure is not more relevant and higher than concrete's unit price. Cement Treated Asphalt Mixtures (CTAM) is one of solutions for reducing the use of asphalt. Basically, CTAM is a porous asphalt mix which it voids filled cement mortar. For those, voids in mix of porous asphalt and characteristics of cement mortar are two parameters which should be considered in making CTAM. This paper just concerned to design procedure in porus asphalt for CTAM's purpose. The result of this study shown that Marshall procedure which had modified could be used for this purpose. The modification done in this study only on the sample's preconditoning procedure prior testing i.e. by conductingn oven heating on temperature 50oC for 110 minutes.

Abstract

Any highway engineering project requires information on the type, distribution, quality, reserve and cost of road-making materials. An inventory system to store this information for all Indonesia's provinces has been developed at Institute of Road Engineering (IRE). Indonesia, together with the collaboration of the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) , United Kingdom. This article deals with the technical aspects of the inventory methodology which is applicable nationwide. The main benefit of this system is its use to road network planning and construction programmes in Indonesia. Although currently resricted tto road-making materials, the inventory system could be extended to cover other construction materials.

Abstract

Unsuitable mix design/specification can be treated as a loss because it can cause defect to pavement layer. Improvement of Bina Marga specification, especially on surface layers of AC (asphalic concrete) and Hot Rolled and binder/base course of AC is intended to avoid that unnecessary loss. This proposed alternative specification of asphalt hot mix is set up y considering the practical matters and to perform the change to the old specification as less as possible. This concept is not the one officially submitted to Bina Marga, but to represent an idea/alternative concept for furhter discussion. The change and improvement cover anticipation of plastic flow defects, accomodation of viscous elastic characateristics road existing condition factor, overlay dimension, requirement for heavy traffic, and selection of more efficient and rational parameters and values of Marshall. For AC surface layer, there is a reduction in the number of aggregate gradation, while for Hot Rolled the selection of aspalt content based on total mix is proposed.

Abstract

Lalu lintas harian rata-rata tahunan (LHR-tahunan) adalah angka yang mewakili demand lalu lintas terhadap fasilitas jalan. Besarannya, bervariasi, tergantung kepada aktivitas socio-ekonomi dari areal yang dilayani oleh ruas jalan tersebut LHR-tahunan umumnya dipakai sebagai masukan dalam proses perencanaan jalan, sebagai dasar untuk menetapkan geometri jalan, tebal dan jenis perkerasan jalan dan evaluasi ekonomi suatu appraisal dibidang jalan. Karena proses untuk mendapatkan nilai LHR-tahunan cukup lama (1 tahun penuh) dan ini dianggap kurang praktis ataupun kurang ekonomis, maka diperlukan suatu cara estimasi yang cukup tepat, mudah dilaksanakan dalam arti tidak diturunkan dari data survey yang lama dan cukup murah. Berdasarkan pengalaman, di mana LHR-tahunan sering disamakan dengan LHR 7 hari yang mana hal ini dapat menyebabkan kesalahan yang besar (bisa sampai ± 20%), maka dalam tulisan ini dikemukakan satu cara yang disebut cara proporsi. Perkiraan LHR-tahunan cara proporsi ini berdasarkan kepada pola rata-rata pergerakan lalu lintas di dalam satu regional dimana jaringan jalannya terintegrasi secara fungsional antara ruas yang satu dengan ruas-ruas jalan yang lainnya. Atas dasar anggapan bahwa pola pergerakan manusia tidak berubah penting dari waktu ke waktu, maka pola-pola tersebut dapat dijabarkan dalam bentuk angka yang disebut faktor proporsi musiman (seasonal variation factors). Berdasarkan faktor-faktor tersebut, perkiraan LHR-tahunan dilakukan dengan mengoreksi data volume lalu lintas harian rata-rata (LHR) untuk satu satuan waktu tertentu (misal 7 hari) oleh faktor-faktor proporsi tersebut.
