Abstract

Purpose ­ This community service program aims to empower primary education teachers in conducting classroom action research as a strategy for continuous improvement, addressing their low research competence and limited understanding of classroom action research practices. Methods - The methodology for this community service is service learning. The activities include offering service activities to students, students registering for service activities, focus group discussions explaining the purpose of service activities to students, investigating problems, observing partners, and preparation for action, service action, and reflection. It was conducted in three meetings with 15 teachers at SDN 1 Mandirancan. Activities included workshops, focus group discussions, and mentoring. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test and analyzed using a paired sample t-test Purpose ­ This community service program aims to empower primary education teachers in conducting classroom action research as a strategy for continuous improvement, addressing their low research competence and limited understanding of classroom action research practices. Methods - This study employed a service-learning approach involving university students as facilitators to support primary school teachers through workshops, focus group discussions, and mentoring sessions. It was conducted in three meetings with 15 teachers at SDN 1 Mandirancan. Activities included workshops, focus group discussions, and mentoring. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test and analyzed using a paired sample t-test Result and discussions - The findings indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding and skills. The mean score increased from 62.40 (pre-test) to 81.73 (post-test), with t-value (5.87) > t-table (2.145), indicating statistical significance. Additionally, 73.33% of teachers were able to identify classroom problems and develop initial classroom action research proposals, while 80% showed increased confidence in data analysis. The service-learning approach effectively facilitated experiential learning, bridging theory and practice. Conclusion - The community service successfully enhanced teachers’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in conducting classroom action research. The integration of training and mentoring proved effective in supporting sustainable professional development and improving teaching practices.

Abstract

Purpose – This community service aims to address the challenges SMEs face in the global market, specifically limited digital knowledge and infrastructure, by enhancing digital literacy through international collaboration. Methods – The program involved a partnership between MM students from Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa and international students to provide intensive training and hands-on support. Activities focused on digital marketing basics, e-commerce platforms, social media marketing, SEO, and direct mentorship in managing websites and running digital campaigns. Result and discussions – The implementation provided SMEs with access to global best practices and the latest technologies. Evaluation showed significant improvements in participants' digital marketing skills and business performance, characterized by increased sales, expanded market reach, and improved operational efficiency. Conclusion – This collaborative model offers a sustainable solution for SME competitiveness, though continuous mentoring and infrastructure support may be required to maintain these technological gains in the long term

Abstract

Purpose-This community service activity aims to empower PKK women in Tumut Hamlet, Moyudan, Sleman through training in making jumputan tablecloths as an effort to strengthen productive skills. This activity was carried out because partners still have limited knowledge about business skills, minimal sociopreneurship activities, and not optimal utilization of the potential of the creative economy based on household skills. Methods-The method of implementing activities includes lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and mentoring. The activity was held on August 12, 2023 involving 30 PKK participants. The training material includes the introduction of jumputan techniques, the use of tools and materials, the process of making jumputan tablecloths, simple work safety, and the calculation of product selling prices. Results and discussions-The results of the activity showed that all participants participated in the training until it was finished. Most of the participants were able to make jumputan tablecloths well, with a very good skill achievement of 95% and quite good of 5%. Participants were also able to calculate the selling price of the product, which was around IDR 35,000 per unit. This training improves the technical skills, confidence, creativity, and motivation of participants to develop textile handicraft-based business opportunities in the household environment. Conclusion-Training in making jumputan tablecloths can be an effective form of empowerment for PKK women in improving productive skills and opening up creative economic opportunities. Follow-up activities can be directed to the development of motif design, packaging, branding, product photography, and digital marketing.
