Abstract

The ability of mathematical communicati low ability of students' mathematical communication is caused by the lack of training students in conveying their ideas. Mathematics is also less associated with the reality that students can understand, so students have difficulty in applying mathematical concepts that they learn. One of the learning approaches that relate between mathematical concepts and the real world is Realistic Mathematic Education. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the mathematical communication skills of students with Realistic Mathematic Education approach is better than the mathematical communication ability of students with conventional learning in class VIII SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP. The type of research conducted is quasi experiment (quasi experiment) with the design model Static Group Design. The sample of the study were students of class VIII.A and VIII.B SMP  embangunan Laboratorium UNP. The research instrument used is the final test of students' mathematical communication ability. The average value of the experimental class is 68.1 and the control class average is 53.9. The result of analysis by using statistical test, obtained that hypothesis significant. That is, the mathematical communication skills of students who study the approach of RealisticMathematic Education is better than the mathematical communication skills of students who learn with conventionallearning. Keywords–The Ability of Mathematical Communication, Realistic Mathematics Education Approach

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop interactive multimedia based on constructivism for geometry transformation material that was valid and practical. This multimedia can support student in learning to be more interesting and help visualize the material. The type of this research is Research and Development.This research used the plomp model.The plomp model consists of a preliminary research and development of prototype or prototyping phase. Research data were collected by observation, interviews and questionnaires.The results of this research, show that the interactive learning multimedia has very valid category with a validity level was 82,02% and has very practical category with a practicality level by student was 85,07% and the practicality level by teacher was 97,91%.Keywords– Constructivism, Transformation Geometry, Interactive learning multimedia, Plomp

Abstract

Understanding the concept is a basic ability that must be possesed by every student. In fact, in reality understanding mathematic concept of students in grade VIII at SMPN 10 Padang still low. Based on observation learning is still centered on the teacher, the teacher actively provides information to students, while students are still passive in learning. One of the efforts made to improve students understanding of concept is to apply the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. The purpose of this study is to describe whether understanding mathematic concepts of students who learn by CTL approach is better than who learn by conventional learning. The type of the research was a quasi-experimental design with Static Group Design. Based on the result of the data analysis, it was concluded that understanding mathematic concepts of students who learn using the CTL approach is better than students who learn by conventional learning.  Keywords—, Understanding of mathematical concepts, the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach, the conventional learning.

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is an important aspect to be achieved through learning mathematics. This study determine whether students' understanding of mathematical concepts in learning with the 7E learning cycle model is better than student learning through direct learning in class VIII of SMPN 4 Bukittinggi. This study used quasi-experimental design with The Nonequivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population of this study were studentts of class VIII SMPN 4 Bukittinggi who were registered in the 2022/2023 academic year. Sampling wass done by random sampling technique. The research instrment was in the form of a final test which was evaluated using a hypothesis test, t test. Based on the analysis of statistical tests, it was concluded that H0 was rejected. This shows that the Learning Cycle 7E learning model influences students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Keywords– Learning Cycle 7E, Mathematical concepts understanding, Direct Learning

Abstract

Learning mathematics has objectives that must be achieved, one of which is the ability to solve mathematical problems. The low ability of students' mathematical problems is because the learning process is not optimal. Therefore, to overcome this, it takes a learning model that can improve students' mathematical problem management skills, one of which is the Group Investigation type cooperative learning model. The purpose of this is to describe whether the cooperative learning type of Group Investigation can improve the mathematical problem skills of students according to a literature study. The type of research used is a literature study on improving the ability of mathematical problems through cooperative learning model type Group Investigation. Abstract

Math is a subject that has evolved and helps high school students solve problems. Many still make mistakes when solving these situations. Their math errors are the focus of this study. A descriptive qualitative type was conducted, by collecting data using problem-solving skills questions and unstructured interviews. Class X E 7 SMA Negeri 3 Padang. Many errors in solving Newman analysis-based problems, according to this study. namely errors (1) reading the problem by 17%; (2) understanding the problem by 25%; (3) transforming the problem by 30%; (4) process skills by 56%; (5) writing the final answer by 71%. The fifth skill was performed by subjects with high problem solving ability. While the medium ability made mistakes in three stages. Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is the main ability in learning that must be mastered by students. The learning objectives of mathematics will be achieved if students are able to understand the concepts of the material provided. However, the fact that understanding the mathematical concepts of class VIII students at SMPN 3 Padang still needs to be improved. An alternative that can be used to improve understanding of concepts and activities of students in the learning process is to apply a cooperative model of think pair square type. The study was conducted to determine the effect of our ability to understand concepts and activities of students by applying the TPSq. This type of research is quasi-experimental with the design of Static Group Design. For testing the hypothesis t-test is used. Based on the results of data analysis, obtained P-value = 0.020 <α = 0.05 so it can be concluded that the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students with TPSq is better than the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students whose learning applies conventional learning to class VIII of SMPN3 Padang.Keywords— cooperative learning, Think Pair Square, mathematical concepts, conventional learning

Abstract

This research was conducted at SMPN 1 X Koto Singkarak which aims to develop a valid and practical learning videos based on a contextual teaching learning approach on number pattern used as a learning media to attract student’s attention and help their learning process to be more active. The development of these video uses Plomp Model which has three stages, namely Preliminary research, prototyping phase and assessment phase. Formative evaluation is carried out on learning videos that are developed to become better products.  From the result of the development of this learning video obtained a validity value 85.10 % with a very valid category, the value of practicality based on student’s resposes in 86.45 % with a very practical category and the value of practicality based on teacher’s respond in 81,25% with practical category. Base on this, the learning video based on the contextual teaching learning approach that has been developed is valid and practical. Keywords — Learning Media, Learning Video, Contextual Teaching Learning Approach

Abstract

— One of the goals of learning mathematics that is expected in high school is that student have good reasoning abilities.These abilities can be developed through learning mathematics. However, in reality students’ mathematical about reasoning are still low. One of the efforts that can be made to improve students’ mathematical ability reasoning is applying the problem based learning model in learning process. The purpose of study was to find out whether the mathematical abilitiy reasoning of students who studied with the problem based learning model were better than students who studied with the direct learning model in class XI IPA SMAN 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a Statics Group Design. The population in this study were students of class XI IPA SMAN 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung. the sample selection waas carried out by random sampling technique, slected class XI IPA 1 as the experimental group and class XI IPA 2 as the control group. Based on the results of the research data analysis at the real level  and P-value = 0,001 using the t test. It was found that the mathematical reasoning abilities of students who studied with the problem based learning model were the better than those who studied with direct learning models in class XI IPA SMAN 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung.Keywords —Problem Based Learning(PBL), Mathematical Reasoning Ability, Direct Learning

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the cognitive abilities that must be possessed by every student in mathematics learning. But from student learning outcomes it can be seen that the understanding of mathematical concepts of students of VIII SMP 30 Padang is still low. An alternative that can be used as a solution to this problem is to implement a model Learning Cycle 5E. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the conceptual ability to of class VIII SMP 30 Padang through the model of Learning Cycle 5E. This type of research is quasi-experimental design with Static group design. Sampling was randomly selected and VIII 5 was selected as experimental class and class VIII 3 as control.
