Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the objectives learning needs to be achieved. But in fact the understanding of the mathematical concept of learners class IX SMP Negeri 22 Padang is still not optimal. To overcome this problems, it was  needed a method or approach that make students be able to construct their own concepts. One model that can be used was the guided discovery learning model. This study aimed to see the effect of using guided discovery learning models on the understanding of mathematical concepts of grade IX students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang. And to describe the attitudes and skills of students in class IX SMP Negeri 22 Padang using the Guided Discovery Learning model. The types of research used are pseudo experiments (Quasy experiment) with the research design of The Non-equivalentwPosttest-Only Control Group Design, with a population of class IX and samples of two classes of IX. 1 and IX. 4 SMP Negeri 22 Padang. The experimental class was given learning by using the guided discovery learning model that has special syntax, namely motivation and problem statements, data collection, data processing, verification and closure. The control o class used a direct learning. The instrument used was a learning achievement test that contained criteria for concepts understanding and judged on the concept of scoring. The statistical test used is test-t. The of data processing showed the price of count > t table, this means that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It can be concluded that learning with discovery learning models affects they understanding of mathematical concepts at SMP N 22 Padang.As well as the progression of the students ' attitudes and skills assessments using guided discovery learning are on good criteria at each meeting. Keywords: guided discovery learning, understanding of mathematical concepts, direct learning

Abstract

Taking notes are important activities that students need to do while following the mathematics learning process. The notes will be useful to them as relevant guidelines to help complete the task or prepare for the exam. However, many learners do not take notes in mathematics learning. This is due to their lack of awareness of the benefits of notes in learning. One of the tips that can be done to overcome this is to take notes with mind mapping techniques. Mind mapping is a way of recording creatively, effectively and not boringly because in making it students are facilitated to express their thoughts / abilities and imagination to use various newly learned words / terms, symbols / images, and colors, so that the ideas mapped will last a long time in their memory. This is different from ordinary notes that are only in the form of narratives. This research has facilitated class XI mipa students of SMAN 8 Padang to make notes with mind mapping techniques. As a result, the ability to make mathematical mind mapping for students is in the sufficient category.  Keywords– Mind Mapping, Mathematics Learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop student worksheets (LKPD) based on discovery learning that is valid and practical on Cartesian coordinates for grade VIII junior high school students. This research is a development research by modifying the Plomp development model which consists of three phases, namely preliminary research, prototyping stage, and the assessment phase. Based on the results of data validity analysis in terms of four aspects, namely the feasibility of content, linguistic aspects, presentation aspects and graphic aspects, it shows that the-based student worksheets discovery learning have a validity level of 87,33% with a category very valid. In the practicality category, LKPD also met the practical criteria from the result of the questionnaire responses of three students who had carried out the one to one evaluation with a persentage of 89,26%. Based on these results it can be concluded that based student worksheets discovery learning on Cartesian coordinates for grade VIII junior high school students can be declared valid and practical. Keywords – Development Research, Student Worksheet, Discovery Learning

Abstract

One indicator of the success of students in mastering mathematics is seen from the results of learning mathematics. However, in reality mathematics learning outcomes of grade XI  students of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Rumbai, shows that the students' mathematics learning outcomes remains relatively low. The solution that can be applied by educators to improve students' math learning outcomes is the Student Teams Achievement Division type cooperative learning model. This study aims to determine, describe and analyze whether the mathematics learning outcomes of students who learn with the cooperative learning model type Student Teams Achievement Division are better than students who learn with conventional learning models in classl XI SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Rumbai. Quasi experiment with Posttest Only Design with Non-equivalent Group is used in this research. Based on the results of data analysis and hypothesis testing, it shows that the mathematics learning outcomes of students who learn with the Student Teams Achievement Division type  cooperative learning model are better   than students who learn with conventional learning models in class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Rumbai.Keywords– Cooperative, Student Teams Achievement Division, Mathematics Learning Outcomes.

Abstract

Mathematical problem solving skills is ones of  mathematics learning goal that expected in School. Studentsare expected to have the good mathematical problem solving skills. However, the result of tests that have been conducted at 1 Padang  senior high school shows that students have low mathematical problem solving skills. This mattercan be improved by implementing Means Ends Analysis learning models to the learning process in the school.This research aims to find out whether the mathematical problem solving skills of students who follow the learning MEA model are better than those who follow the convensional learning. This research is quasy experiment research with static group design. The result of the final tests shows that the mathematical problem solving skill of students who followed the MEA learning modelhave increased. Besides, the results of hypothesis test shows that the mathematical problem solving skills of students who follow the learning MEA model are better than those who follow the convensional learning. Abstract

Studying math concepts is one of the learning goals that students must master. However, in practice at SMPN 1 2 X 11 Kayutanam, competence to understand the concepts of class VIII students are not yet optimal. the competence to understand this concept is not optimal and it affects other mathematical abilities. One of the efforts to so that students understanding concepts increases  is to apply generative form of learning. Wishes of this study is to describe whether the competence to understand the concepts of students learned using a generative learning model is better than the competence to understand concepts of students learned using a direct learning model in class VIII of the SMPN 1 2 x 11 Kayutanam. The research method applied is quasi-experimental. The population in this study is 2021/2022 Class VIII SMP Negeri 1 2 x 11 Kayutanam. Sampling was performed using simpler random sampling techniques, with class VIII.2 as the experimental class and class VIII.3 as the control class.The research tool used was a conceptual understanding as in the form of a test of essay questions. Data from the Conceptual Understanding Tests were analyzed using t-tests. Reasonable results of the final test review, it was found that students who learned using generative learning models had better understanding of mathematical concepts than students who learned using direct learning models in class VIII of SMP N 1 2 x 11 Kayutanam. Therefore, it can be concluded that generative learning models have an impact on students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Keywords - : concept understanding, generative learning model, direct learning model

Abstract

understanding the concept is a very important ability in the mathematics learning process that is expected to be mastered well by learners. The reality in field found that the understanding of the concept of mathematics among the class VIII students of SMPN 43 Padang for the 2022/2023 academic year was still low. One effort that can be made to improve students’ understanding of mathematical concepts is to apply models such as Think Talk Write learning. The purpose of this research is to describe whether the understanding of the mathematical concept of students who learn using the Think Talk Write learning model is better than the understanding of the mathematical concepts of students who learn by using the direct learning model in class VIII SMPN 43 Padang. This tipe of research in the class VIII at SMPN 43 Padang. Sample selection was done by random sampling technique. Class VIII-1 was selected as the experimental class and class VIII-3 as the control class. Abstract

This study aims to develop Student Worksheets (LKPD) on the subject of the matrix for class XI SMA / MA by implementing Problem Based Learning (PBL) based learning. In addition, this study aims to analyze and describe the characteristics of the PBL-based LKPD on the subject of the valid and practical matrix of class XI SMA / MA. This development research uses the Plomp model which consists of three phases, namely the Preliminary Research phase, the Prototyping Stage, and the Assessment Phase. Based on the results of the validity data analysis, it shows that the PBL-based student worksheets on the subject of the matrix in terms of content feasibility, completeness of PBL components, language, presentation and graphics have a validity level of 83,65%  with a very valid category. LKPD also met the practical criteria of the student response questionnaire results with a percentage of 87,22%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the PBL-based student worksheets on the subject of the matrix for high school class XI students can be declared valid and practical. Keywords — Development, Student Worksheets, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

The preliminary exam results indicated that the 11th grade students at SMAN 3 Padang exhibited a comparatively low level of proficiency in mathematical problem-solving skills across all indicators. This is a result of insufficient engagement in the learning process. Consequently, an investigation was carried out utilising the Discovery Learning (DL) approach to enhance this capability. The methodology employed was a Quasi Experiment with an appropriate study design. Design utilising a posttest only control group that is not equal. Upon doing a t-test on the data from the sample class, with a significance threshold of α = 0.05, a P-value of 0.001 was achieved. This outcome signifies the dismissal of the null hypothesis (H0). These findings suggest that students using the DL model exhibit superior aptitude compared to those using the direct learning model in class XI at SMAN 3 Padang.Keywords– Mathematical problem solving abilities, Discovery Learning

Abstract

bThe application ofnthe cooperative learning model Think Talk Write can improve student learning outcomes, especially students' mathematical communication skills. This research was conducted with the aim of 1) knowing and describing mathematicalvcommunicationyskills ofpstudentsuwhonlearn with the cooperativeelearningmmodel TTW typerbetter than mathematicalycommunicationtskillsrof studentswwhoqlearn with direct learningxmodels, 2) knowing and describing how mathematical communication skills of students during applying the TTW type of cooperative learning model. The method used is a quasi-experimental and descriptive method with the Static Group Design. This study uses two classes for sample classes which before determining the sample class, first conduct a normality test, and the homogeneity test for variance can then be determined in terms of the population average similarity.
