Abstract

The tipe of risearch used is a quas experimental with  a researh desig  using Non-equivalen Posttest Only Control Group Desig. academik year. Samples were taken using the Simple Rndom Sampling technique, so that clas XI IPS 1 was chosen as the experimental class and XI IPS 2 as the control clas. The instrument used is in the form of a final test of the ability to understand mathematicall concepts in the form of essay questions. The data obtained were analyzed by normality test, homogenety test and t tes. Basid on the analisis of the final test, it was obtained  that P-value = 0. Because the P-Value is les than = 0.05, it’s mean that thire is an influenc from the aplication of the Tem Assisted Individualization (TAI) learning model on the abiliity to understan mathematical conceps of students, so that the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who learn with the Team Asisted Individualization (TAI) learning model is better than the ability to understand mathematicallconcepts of students wh’so learn with the drect’s  learning mode’sl.. Keywordsi– Cooperative, TAI, Mathematicall concepts understanding.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to make interactive learning media for mathematical problem solving ability of junior high school students in grade VIII on chance material. Plomp's development model, which consists of initial analysis, development, and assessment, was used in this study. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires, interviews, and tests, while the data analysis techniques used were descriptive statistics and descriptive techniques. Learner analysis, curriculum, concepts, and learner characteristics were studied during the initial analysis phase. Multimedia-based interactive learning media were created during the development phase and tested on learners in two evaluation stages: one-on-one and small group. During the assessment phase, the effect of using the learning media on learners' ability to solve mathematical problems was evaluated. The results showed that the intuitive learning media on the subject of probability has been declared valid, functional (practical), and effective (at the small collection stage). This media is considered valid because of its logical presentation, content, language, and graphics, as well as its development in accordance with the principles of scientific knowledge. It is also useful because it is easy to use and follows established rules. This media also utilizes time well, is interesting, and easy to understand. This learning media is also effective because it can help students in practicing their ability to solve math problems. Keywords– Interactive Learning Media Development, Multimedia, Probability, Mathematics Problem Solving Ability.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the student’s mathematical critical thinking ability trough the field dependent (FD) or field independent (FI) kognitive styles. This research used mixed research to describe the relation between two variabels with statistics approach and descriptive qualitative approach. Data was taken from 168 students of SMP Negeri 1 Padang and choose 6 of them to be interviewed. The result of data analysis showed that there is a significant correlation between kognitive styles and student’s mathematical critical thinking ability. The student with FD cognitive styles showed a higher ability than student with FI cognitive style in identify the asumptions needed to solve mathematical problem. Both of kognitive styles show the equal ability in indentify data that is relevant to the mathematics problem given. Otherwise, the student with FI cognitive styles showed a higher ability than student with FD cognitive style in examining the truth of the statement, compiling questions, and solving mathematical problems.Keywords—critical thinking, mathematical critical thinking ability, cognitive styles, field dependent, field independent

Abstract

Matematics learning outcomes are an important component and must be achieved in learning mathematics. The result of the observation show that the mathematics learning outcomes of students at SMA Negeri 1 Sutera still low. Therefore, research was carried out in order to improve students mathematics learning outcomes by adjusting the group investigation (GI) type of cooperative learning model. The type of research used was quasy experimental and descriptive with randomized control group only design. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that the development of students mat learning outcomes hematics learning outcomes during the learning process using the group investigation (GI) type of cooperative learning model has increase, and the mathematics of students whose learning process uses the group investigation (GI) type of cooperative learning model are better than the result. Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is one of the abilities that must be possessed by every student in mathematics learning. But in reality the mathe|matical reasoning abi|lity of class VIII stu|dents of SMPN 8 Padang is n|ot op|timal. One of the factors that causes it to occur is learning that has not been fully able to facilitate students to develop mathematical reasoning abilities properly. Efforts can be made to improve students mathematical reasoning ability, one of which is to implement discovery learning models. T|he pur|pose of t|his stu|dy wa|s to deter|mine the differenses in mathe|matical reasoning abil|ities of stu|dents who use discovery lear|ning wit|h mat|hematical reasoning abilit|ies that use conventional lear|ning in the class VIII of SMPN 8 Padang. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research design with Static Group Design. The population in this study was class VIII SMPN 8 Padang with samples class VIII.E and VIII.F. The research instrument used was a tes of mathematical reasoning ability in the form of esaay quastion. Based on the analysis of the date from the final tes results obtained that at a significant level og 0,005 by performing the t-test obtained P-value = 0,048 because the P-v|alue < α th|en H0 is re|jected. This shows that students mathematical reasoning abilities with convensional learning in class VIII of SMPN 8 Padang. Abstract

The success of students in learning mathematics can be seen from the results obtained after participating in learning activities. Results of learning mathematics eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 24 Padang still low, because they are less active in learning. Solutions to cope this problem is using the STAD model. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the mathematics learning outcomes of students who use models STAD learning and those using the direct learning model, as well as describing the development of mathematics learning outcomes of student who used the STAD learning model. This Quasi-experiment used the Nonequivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. The results of data analysis with the t test, obtained ? −value < 0.05, indicating that the mathematics learning outcomes of students who use the STAD learning model are better than the direct learning model. Based on value increase quizzes and analysis of final test data, it was concluded that the STAD learning model positive effect on students' mathematics learning outcomes.Keywords– Student Team Achievement Division, Direct Learning, Mathematics Learning Outcomes.

Abstract

Learning process that is implemented in SMPN 16 Padang was still not optimal to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes. The process of learning mathematics at SMPN 16 Padang is still centered on teachers and students tend to passively receive learning. One alternative to improve learning outcomes is to apply cooperative learning of Think Pair Square (TPSq) type in learning mathematics. Purpose of this study is to determine whether the results of learning mathematics students learning applying cooperative learning model Think Pair Square type better than the student learning outcomes with conventional learning by applying the model of cooperative learning type TPSq on students of class VIII SMPN 16 Padang. This research was a quasi-experiment, with Static Group Design. Population were student in grade VIII at SMPN 16 Padang. The research sample was chosen randomly and elected VIII.4 as experimental class and VIII.6 as control class. The results of this study indicate the results of learning mathematics students who learn to use cooperative learning model with TPSq’s type better than student who learned used conventional learning.Keywords – cooperative learning, result of learning mathematical, think pair square

Abstract

One of the abilities that must be developed in mathematics learning is the ability to think critically. But in learning and assessment the results of mathematics learning the ability to think critically is not a concern. There is a test that is widely used to measure students' critical thinking skills, namely Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA). The research objective is to describe the level of students' critical thinking skills based on the WGCTA indicator. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were students of class VIII-1 who were selected based on certain considerations. The research instrument is in the form of test questions and interview guidelines. The data obtained are the results of tests regarding critical thinking skills and the results of interviews. The analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The guarantor technique for the validity of the data used is technical triangulation. Based on the results of analysis and triangulation, it can be concluded that students' critical thinking skills are in the moderate category. The level of critical thinking skills of students is classified as being on the indicator of deduction and interpreting information, classified as low to moderate on indicators of inference and analysis of arguments, classified as low on the indicator of assumption (regnition of recommendations) . Keywords - analysis, critical thinking skills, Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal

Abstract

Mathematics learning result are basically the main goal of the learning process. However, in reality, the mathematics learning result of students in class XI MIPA SMAN 1 Lembah Gumanti are still low. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these problems is by applying the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model.
