Abstract

The first objective of learning mathematics is understanding mathematical concept. Based on observations in class VII SMPN 31 Padang in the 2019/2010 Academic Year, it was found that student’s understanding of mathematical concept was still low. This can be seen from the completeness of the scores for the daily test and Odd Semester End Test of students. Therefore, we need a learning model that can overcome these problems.  One of which learning model that can improve student’s mathematical concepts understanding is the Numbered Heads Together cooperative learning model. The purpose of this research is to describe theoretically how the NHT model can improve student’s understanding of mathematical concepts. This type of research is a literature study on improving understanding of mathematical concepts through the NHT model. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the type of NHT cooperative learning described in the related article regarding indicators on these abilities has a tendency to increase student’s understanding of mathematical concepts. Keywords__NHT, Cooperative Learning, Understanding Of Mathematical Consepts

Abstract

Math problem-solving is essential. But some students still struggle with this competence. Initial observations in class VII of SMPN 12 Padang in 2022/2023 showed low levels of this ability. This study compared the mathematical problem-solving skills of class VIII students at SMPN 12 Padang in 2023/2024 who used the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to the direct learning methodology. The research is quasi-experimental and descriptive with a non-equivalent posttest only control group design. Quizzes and final tests were research tools. Data analysis, including normality and hypothesis testing, shows that the PBL paradigm improves mathematical problem-solving more than the direct learning model. Keywords– Problem Solving Ability, Problem Based Learning, Direct Learning.

Abstract

The activities and results of mathematics learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 43 Padang were still low. The reason is students are lazy to do the exercises given. Therefore, we need a learning model that can improve learning outcomes, namely Knisley Learning Model. The Knisley Learning Model is a learning model consisting of four stages where there is a division of roles between teacher and students. This study aims to describe how student learning activities during the implementation of  and find out whether the learning outcomes of students who learn to apply Knisley Learning Model are better than students who study with conventional learning in class VIII of SMP Negeri 43 Padang. The results of processing and data analysis show that student learning activities experience fluctuations for each meeting. Based on the analysis of the final test results, at the real level α = 0.05, it can be concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of students who study with Knisley Learning Model are better than the learning outcomes of students who study with conventional learning in SMP Negeri 43 Padang.Keywords— activities, result study, Knisley, Knisley Learning Model

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce interactive learning media for class VIII students' number pattern material that is valid and practical as one of the learning media for class VIII number pattern material so that it can make it easier for students to understand the lesson.. This interactive learning media uses the Plomp development model which consists of 2 stages, namely the preliminary research and prototyping phase. The subjects of this research were 9 students of class VIII SMPN 13 Padang. The instruments used are validation sheets and questionnaires. In this research, a valid and practical mathematical e-module was obtained. The e-module is valid with 83,88% results in the very valid category. A The results of the questionnaire for the student questionnaire, the practicality value of 84,79% was obtained in the very practical category. Keywords– Development, Interactive Learning Media, Practical, Valid

Abstract

Understanding of concepts is a very important ability in learning mathematics, but the reality in the field is that students' understanding of mathematical concepts in class VII UPT SMP Negeri 2 Padang Ganting is still low. One of the efforts made to increase understanding of concepts is to apply the Auditory Intellectually Repetition model which aims to describe whether students' understanding of mathematical concepts in class IX UPT SMP Negeri 2 Padang Ganting in the 2022/2023 academic year has increased. This type of research is pre-experimental with a one group pre-test post-test design. The research population was all students of class IX at SMP Negeri 2 Padang Ganting. In this study only used the experimental class without any control class and the sampling used saturated sampling technique. The instrument used is a test of understanding mathematical concepts in the form of descriptions. The hypothesis test used is the paired t test. Based on the analysis results obtained P-value = 0.000 with a significant level of α = 0.05, so it can be concluded that students' understanding of mathematical concepts using the Auditory Intellectually Repetition learning model in learning increased in class IX UPT SMP Negeri 2 Padang Ganting. Keywords– Understanding Mathematical Concepts, Auditory Intellectually Repetition

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop student worksheets on the matrix that is valid and practical using the discovery learning model. This is because the student worksheets used in the learning process are still not able to facilitate students to be actively involved in discovering a concept or principle to construct their knowledge. The type of this research is Research and Development (R&D). This research used the Plomp model which consists of three phases, namely preliminary research, development or prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The research data were collected by using a questionnaire, interview, and observation. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed by using descriptive techniques, while the data from observations and interviews were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The results of this research are (1) the student worksheets developed has a very valid category with a validity value of 82.78%, (2) the student worksheets can be used easily by students in the learning process with a practicality value of 88.47% with very practical category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the developed student worksheets can be applied in mathematics learning in schools. Keywords – Student Worksheet, Discovery Learning, Matrix, Plomp

Abstract

This study aims to develop learning tools in the form of Student Worksheets (LKPD) on the opportunity material for class XII SMA / MA students by applying problem-based learning. This study also aims to produce a valid and practical problem-based learning based student worksheet. The development research uses the Plomp development model which consists of three stages, namely the initial stage (Preliminary Research), the development stage (Prototyping Phase), and the production phase. The initial assumptions consist of needs analysis, curriculum analysis, concept analysis and student analysis. The development phase is the stage for learning tools consisting of prototype 1, prototype 2, and prototype 3. In prototype 1, an independent evaluation is carried out. In prototype 2 an expert review was conducted by mathematics education experts to see the validity of the learning tools developed. In prototype 3, a One-to-One Evaluation was carried out by testing the validated LKPD on three students with heterogeneous cognitive abilities. The last stage is the measurement results to see the practicality of the LKPD through the results of a questionnaire conducted by students. Based on the results of the validity data analysis, it shows that the Student Worksheet based on problem based learning in terms of content, problem-based learning, language, presentation and graphics has a validity level of 81.17% with a very valid category. LKPD also met the practical criteria from the results of the questionnaires and interviews. Based on these results, it can be seen that the problem-based learning mathematics learning device on the opportunity material for class XII SMA / MA students can be declared valid and practical. Keywords—Student Worksheets(LKPD), Problem Based Learning Based, Opportunities

Abstract

Proficiency in mathematical problem solving is very important for students, as it is considered the main goal in mathematics education. However, this ability in grade XI at SMA Negeri 16 Padang seems to be lacking due to the absence of learning activities that encourage student engagement. The Two Stay Two Stray cooperative model was suggested to address this challenge. The impact of the TSTS model was investigated in this study. Non-equivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design pseudo-experiment was used in this study. The t-test showed a P-value <0.003, indicating that the TSTS learning model outperformed conventional learning in developing mathematical problem solving skills in class XI SMA Negeri 16 Padang.Keywords– Two Stay Two Stray,  Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

The key to success for pupils in mathematics is their ability to solve problems. to think carefully and critically in the field of mathematics studies and daily routine. The ability of class VIII MTsN 7 Agam students to understand, develop strategies, solve and re-examine problems are poor. This problem that arises is overcome with the Discovery Learning learning model, through quasi-experimentation and Design of Randomized Posttest-Only Control Group. The instance classes were taken using a simple random method to obtain experimental class VIII 6 and control class VIII 7. The tests were examined using the t test, with P-Value at zero indicates the Discovery Learning model is better at improving mathematical problem solving compared to direct learning in class VIII MTsN 7 Agam.Keywords – Discovery learning, Mathematical Problem Solving Abilitie

Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the learning errors shown in the mathematics learning process and (2) the learning errors shown in the mathematics learning outcomes of the eighth grade students of SMPN 11 Padang. The source of data in this research is using purposive sampling. Students are grouped into three categories of high, medium, and low learning achievement. Data collection using tests and interviews. The results of the study showed that the errors made by students in solving the problem of building a flat side space were Conceptual Errors and Procedural Errors. The cause of student errors in solving the problem of building a flat side space is influenced by several causes. The causes of conceptual errors include (1) Students do not understand the meaning of the problem, (2) Students are wrong in choosing the formula, and (3) Students cannot apply the formula properly. The causes of procedural errors include (1) Students do not follow the steps in solving problems, (2) Students lack practice in working on questions, and (3) Students are not able to solve problems to a simple stage. Keyword: Build a flat side space, Description, Student learning errors
