Abstract

Problem-solving ability is one of the abilities that students need to have in learning mathematics. Based on the results of observations at SMPN 1 Harau, it can be seen that students' mathematical problem-solving abilities are still low. One of the learning models that can be used to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities is the 7E Learning Cycle model. The purpose of this study was to analyze and describe whether the mathematical problem-solving abilities of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Harau became better after the Learning Cycle 7E model was applied. The type of research used is pre-experimental with the One Group Pretest-Postest Design. The population in this study were class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Harau in the 2022/2023 academic year. Samples were taken using the Simple Random Sampling technique, class VIII.5 as the sample class. The research instrument used was a test of mathematical problem-solving abilities in the form of essay questions. Based on the results of data analysis for hypothesis testing, it was found that at a significant level, α = 0.05 with the t-test P-value = 0.000 was obtained. Because the P-value is ˂ α, it can be concluded that  is rejected. So it was concluded that the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who learned by applying the 7E Learning Cycle model were better than the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students whose learning did not use the 7E Learning Cycle model in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Harau.Keywords — Solving Mathematical Problem, 7E Learning Cycle.

Abstract

Learning outcomes can be used as a benchmark to knowing the success of mastering a lesson. However, the learning outcomes of Grade students of VIII SMP 3 Batang Kapas are still low. One effort to overcome this problem is by applying the active learning type type The Power Of Two. This type of research is quasi-experiment with the Static Group Design research design. The instrument of this research is the final test. Sampling is done by Simple Random Sampling. Data analysis was carried out, namely t-test. The final test analysis shows the results of mathematics learning of students who learn the active learning strategies of The Power Of Two type better than the results of mathematics learning of students who learn with direct learning models. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to to develop and produce learning tools in the form of valid and practical student worksheets on two-variable linear equation system material for grade VIII junior high school students by applying the Discovery Learning-based learning model. The model used is the Plomp development model which consists of three stages, namely the initial investigation phase, the development phase, and the assessment phase. The initial investigative phase consists of needs analysis, curriculum analysis, and concept analysis. In the development phase, self-evaluation, expert validation and individual evaluation are carried out. The practicality of the learning device is seen from the practicality questionnaire of students. Based on the results of data analysis, the validity and practicality shows that the Discovery Learning-based learning tools meet the valid criteria in terms of content and construct and are practical in terms of implementation, convenience and time required. So, it is concluded that the mathematics learning tool based on Discovery Learning on the material of the two-variable linear equation system for class VIII SMP that has been produced can be declared valid and practical. Keywords— Development Research, Discovery Learning, Mathematics

Abstract

In learning mathematics, mathematical communication is crucial for students. However, currently the ability of students in class VIII of SMPN 29 Padang is not good in mathematical communication. The Think Pair Square (TPSq) cooperative learning model can overcome this problem. This research compares the mathematical communication skills of students who applied the TPSq approach with conventional learning. This research is a pseudo-experiment through Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The results proved that students who applied the TPSq model had higher mathematical communication skills compared to conventional learning.Keywords: Mathematical Communication Skills, Cooperative Learning, Think Pair Sqaure, Conventional Learning

Abstract

Understanding0of mathematical concepts is a basic ability that must be possesed by student, but understanding the mathematical concepts of student in class VIII SMPN 40Pariaman is still low in terms oftest results and learning is still centered on education. The solution applied in the cooperatif learning model is think talk write0type. The purpose of this study is to describe the ability to understand0mathematical concept of student learning with the TTW model and how the development of studen’s understanding ability concept after the TTW model is applied. Abstract

Mathematical problem solving is one of the competencies that must be mastered by students. However, in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Enam Lingkung is still relatively low so that many students make mistakes in working on problem solving problems. Errors made by students need to be identified in order to improve the quality of learning activities by conducting research to analyze the errors of class XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 1 Enam Lingkung with the aim of knowing the most dominant types of errors made by students in solving math problem solving problems in the material. Linear program and find out the factors that cause the error.The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects were students of class XI MIPA 5 SMA Negeri 1 Enam Lingkung for the academic year 2021/2022 which was held in August-September 2021. The data were obtained from observations, written tests on Linear Program materials and interviews.In the results of the research conducted, it shows that the most dominant type of error made by students is the error in planning problem solving with a percentage of 36.42%. While the other types of errors are errors in understanding the problem by 7.85%, errors in implementing the problem-solving plan by 18.57%, and errors in re-checking the solutions obtained as much as 23.57%. The causes of the mistakes made by these students are not accustomed to discussing or working on mathematical problem solving problems, rushing, feeling panicked so that there are some steps that are forgotten to be made, lack of mastery of the material, lack of focus and carelessness in working on problems. Keywords– Error Analysis, Problem solving, Polya

Abstract

The capability to communicate in the context of mathematics has an impact on mathematics learning outcomes. When students have effective communication skills, they can convey mathematical answers, concepts accurately and precisely. However, many students still lack proficient communication abilities in the mathematical context. One applicable model for enhancing students' abilities in communicating mathematical concepts is by utilizing the Guided Discovery Learning model. The aim of this study is to identify and evaluate whether students engaged in education through the Guided Discovery Learning model display better performance compared to those taught applying the direct instructional model in the eighth grade at SMPN 22 Padang. The research design used is a quasi-experiment employing a Non-equivalent posttest-only control group approach, conducted in the eighth-grade classrooms at SMPN 22 Padang. Sampling was conducted using a straightforward random sampling method, with Class VIII D chosen as the experimental group and Class VIII F as the control group. The instrument used is a final assessment of mathematical communication abilities Data analysis results indicated  P-value = 0.002 ( .) This outcome suggests that the overall mathematical communication abilities of students were educated using the Guided Discovery Learning model surpassed those who were instructed through the direct teaching method.Keywords– Mathematical communication skill, Guided Discovery Learning, Direct Learning

Abstract

One of the many goals of learning mathematics in school is to make students understand the ability of understanding mathematical concepts. In fact in grade VIII SMP Adabiah Padang, students are still low in understanding and applying this ability. Learning strategies used so that students can understand the concept well with the active learning strategy type of the power of two. The use of strategy is expected to help the students to understand the concept better. Therefore,conducted research in grade VIII SMP Adabiah Padang. Abstract

This research aims to describe the mathematical communication skills of students who apply the Problem Based Learning model and describe learning activities while the Problem Based Learning model is applied in class XII IPA SMAN 4 Solok. This type of research is Pre-experiment with One Shot Case Study design. The subjects of this study were students of class XII IPA SMAN 4 Solok in the academic year 2021/2022 with class XII IPA 3 as the subject class. The research instrument is a test of mathematical communication skills in the form of essay questions which are analyzed by finding the average class value of the subject then qualified. Based on data analysis, it was found that the average result of the mathematical communication ability test of students in the subject class was 7.94. After the average is qualified, the mathematical communication skills of students who learn by applying the Problem Based Learning model are in the high category. Keywords– Mathematical Communication Skills, Problem Based Learning, Pre-Experiment

Abstract

Various of studies indicate that mathematics learning achievement of Indonesian students is classified as low. The main factors causing this issue are passive teaching-learning process that related to the low  understanding of student’s mathematical concept.  The purpose of this article is written to examine the influence of learning model type think pair square on activeness and understanding of student’s mathematical concept. The methods of data collection used in this article are to search and review the relevant journals after that process the data.
