Abstract

Based on observations in class VIII SMPN 3 Pariaman, it was found that students’ mathematical reasoning abilities were still low. One of the reasons is the learning applied is not optimal training and improving mathematical reasoning skill well. Efforts that can be used are implementing DL models. The purpose of this study is to determine and discribe whether the ability of mathematical reasoning learning with the application of DL models is better thanthe ability to solve mathematical reasoning by applying the conventional learning. This type of research is quasy experimental research design with Randomized Control Group Only Desain. The study population was students of class VIII SMPN 3 Pariaman with a sample of class VIII 6 and VIII 7. The instrument used was a test of mathematical reasoning abilities in the form of essay questions. The results showed the ability to solve mathematical reasoning with the application of DL models is better thanthe ability to solve mathematical reasoning with the application of direct conventional learning.Keywords — Discovery Learning (DL), reasoning skill, Mathematics

Abstract

Concepts understanding of mathematical is one of learning mathematics purposes that have be possessed by students. Based on the results of tests conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Payakumbuh, it was found that concepts understanding of mathematical by students' was still low. The research purpose is to find out, analyze and describe the understanding of mathematical concepts of students who study with the TAI type by model of cooperative learning and compare with students who study to use the TAI type by model of cooperative learning is better than the concepts understanding of the mathematical by students in conventional classes. This research type is a quasi-experimental research design with Static Group Design. The research population in this research was class XI MIPA 1 – XI MIPA 8 of SMA Negeri 2 Payakumbuh. Abstract

This paper discusses the mathematical problem solving abilities of students that can be improved with the REACT strategy. The low ability of students to solve mathematical problems is due to the learning process that is not optimal. Through this research, it describes theoretically how the REACT strategy can improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities.This research type is literature study. Data collection is done by searching, collecting and analyzing sources related to topics discussed either from textbooks, journals or other sources. The data analysis used was content analysis. This analysis is needed to discuss in depth the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities with the REACT strategy.The conclusion of this literature study is that theoretically the students' mathematical problem solving abilities can be improved with the REACT strategy. The application of each stage of the REACT strategy can optimize the learning process so that it can help students to improve their mathematical problem solving abilities. The stages of relating will encourage students to be able to understand the problem by relating a problem to the knowledge they have independently. In the experiencing stage, students will be guided to construct their knowledge independently through exploration and discovery activities. The applying stage will encourage students to be able to apply the concept to realistic and relevant practice questions. At the cooperating stage, students will be encouraged to be active in solving problems correctly, completely and systematically in groups. At the transferring stage, students are guided to transfer the knowledge they have acquired into other contexts to be able to solve more complex problems. Keywords – Mathematical Problem Solving Abilities, REACT Strategy

Abstract

Students learning mathematics need effective mathematical communication abilities. This skill is weak in class XI Phase F SMA Negeri 3 Padang 2023/2024. Evidenced by observations. Think Pair Square (TPSq) cooperative learning is being used. This study analyzes whether the TPSq model improves mathematical communication abilities over direct learning and how they evolve. Study employed Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. A quiz and final test assessed math communication. Sampling was random. The research hypothesis was supported by Mann-Whitney. Quiz data revealed all indicators improved. The P-value was 0.001. H0 was rejected due to a P-value < α=0.05. Abstract

Mathematical Communication skills and mathematical disposition are two important aspects that need to be achieved in mathematics as the result of meaningful learning. In fact, learning activities in SMPN 4 Padang Panjang are not optimal in facilitating student to improve both aspects. Student have difficulties in presenting mathematical ideas in the form of images and statements into other forms of visual representation. One effort to resolve this problem by applying Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting and Extending (CORE) learning’s model in mathematics. This learning model helps students build their own knowledge. So, students will easy in communicate ideas that they have obtained. Besides, students constructing their own knowledge process. Students will have a high curiosity, self-confident and strong interest in studying mathematics, thus, math become students’ needs . This type of research is a Quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent post test, only control group design. The results of this study indicates that students’ mathematical communication who learn with CORE learning model is better than  conventional learning. Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is very important for students to be able to make decisions or solution in solving various problems in the mathematical context. The purpose of the study was to describe the effect of the Discovery Learning model on students mathematical reasoning abilities better than students mathematical reasoning of students who learn by using  direct learning  and describe the development of mathematical reasoning abilities of student who study with the Discovery Learning model. The type of research is quasy-experiment and descriptive with a Randomized Control Group Only Design. The research instrument is a test of mathematical reasoning abilities. From the data analysis it was concluded that students' mathematical reasoning abilities that applied the Discovery Learning model were better than the students' mathematical reasoning abilities who applied direct learning in class VIII SMPN 3 Ranah Pesisir. there was an increase in students' mathematical reasoning abilities while learning to apply the Discovery Learning model. Abstract

One of the qualities that students need to learn is the capacity to solve mathematical problems. However, class XI MIPA SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP students still have poor mathematical problem-solving skills. This is because the learning model used failed to develop students' math problem-solving abilities. The Think Talk Write (TTW) type of cooperative learning technique can be utilized to enhance students' math problem-solving skills. The Quasy Experiment and Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design have been selected as the study design type and model, respectively. Abstract

Mathematics is one of the subjects that can help students to think logically, analyze, critically, and the ability to work together. However, the mathematics achievement of students is still low, based on the results of the National Examination in 2019, at the Junior High School level especially on geometry content with an average value of 42,16. This is because the use of learning media is still focused on textbooks so that it does not support the learning process. The Hologram application is a learning media on the learning content of flat side space. This application is designed with three-dimensional object modeling, animation and audio explanations. In addition, there is interaction with users in terms of finding formulas so that the learning process more better. This research uses a modified Plomp model consisting of a priliminary research stage and a prototyping phase. The validity value based on content experts and media experts is 97,927 and 90,278. These results indicate that the media is very valid. The practicality value based on ease of use, suitability for time and attractiveness is 92,59; 95,83 and 92,71. These results indicate that the media is suitable to use as a learning media. Keywords—Geometry, Hologram Application, Learning Media

Abstract

In a classroom, students are challenged to think and reason about mathematics. Therefore, mathematical communication skills are an essential feature as students express the result of their thinking orally and in writing. Based on observations, this skill is still not well-mastered by VIII grade students SMPN 9 Sungai Penuh. The solution is expected to be achieved by implementing the RME approach. This research objective is to describe the development and compare whether the mathematical communication skills of students who are instructed by the RME are better than direct learning. This is a quasi-experimental and descriptive research with a Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The saturated sampling was used to select class VIII B as the experimental group and as the descriptive subject, while class VIII A was selected as the control group. There was an improvement in these skills based on the quiz for each indicator, except for the indicator of explaining mathematical ideas, situations, and relationships in writing using pictures, graphs, and algebra. The posttest used t-test analysis, it was found that the mathematical communication skills of the students who were instructed by using the RME were better than direct learning.
