Abstract

Learning math requires problem-solving skills. In practice, kids’ mathematical problem-solving skills are still low. End-of-even semester results of class VII pupils at UNP Laboratory Development Junior High School in 2022/2023 and the initial test of ability demonstrate low mathematical problem-solving skills. Problem-based learning (PBL) can help pupils solve arithmetic issues. Descriptive and quasi-experimental Static-Group Comparison Design study. Sampling was saturated. Experimental class VIII A and control class VIII B. According to the research, students who learn with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model perform better than those who use the conventional model (P-value = 0,024 <  = 0,05).Keywords – Mathematical Problem-solving, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

The mathematical communications ability is one of the abilities that was expected to be developed in the learning of mathematics, but that occurs in school showed that students mathematical communication ability is stilllow. This was because students haven’t been actively in volved in the learning so that in teraction in the classwasn’t optimal. One effort that can be done was applying cooperative learning model type TTW. The purpose of this study was know the differences between students mathematical communication ability using learning model of cooperative type TTW with those whole arning directly. This study was combination of quasy experiment and descriptive study with static group design. The instrument of this study wer equiz and test of mathematical communication ability in the form of essay matter. The results showed that the mathematical communication ability of students using cooperative model of TTW type is better than those who learning using direct learning in class VIII SMPN 12 PadangKeywords – Cooperative learning,TTW, mathematics communication skills, Direct Instruction

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a valid and practical student worksheet based on Discovery Learning on the topic of Statistics. This research used the Plomp model that consists of three phase, which are preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment phase. The preliminary research phase consists of needs, student, curiculum, and concept analysis. The prototyping phase is the phase to develop student worksheet based on Discovery Learning on the topic of Statistics. At the development stage through formative evaluation in the form of self evaluation and expert review to get a valid product. The last phase is the assessment phase, with the aim of determining the practicality category of the student worksheet through the one to one and small group evaluation. The results Showed that the student worksheet had a validity level of 85,63% with a very valid category and a practicality level of 95,22% with a very practical category. Keywords – Discovery Learning, Student Worksheet, Statistics.

Abstract

The development of science and technology today cannot be separated from the role of the mathematics. One of the main goals of mathematics in school is to train students in solving mathematical problems in everyday life. In the reality found at SMAN 4 Padang, students’mathematical problem solving abilities are still relatively low. This study looks at the effect of probing-prompting technique in mathematics learning to improve students’ mathematical problem solving abilities compared to direct learning that has been applied so far. The method used in this study is the quasi experiments method with the design of Randomized control Group Only Design. Based on data analysis the result of final test problem solving in the form of essays conclude the influence of probing-prompting technique resulted in the test result of students’ problem solving ability of the experimental class better than the control class. Keywords: Probing-prompting, mathematical problem solving, direct learning.

Abstract

One of the learning objectives that must be mastered in learning mathematics is understanding the concept. The reality on the ground found that the understanding of mathematical concepts in class XI MIPA SMA N 3 Pariaman was still low. One effort that could overcome this problem was to apply a cooperative learing model of the think talk write type in the mathemathics learning process. The purpose of study was to determine the development of students’ understanding of mathematics while studying with the cooperative learning model of the think talk write. The type of research in quasi-experimental with Non-equivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. Based on the anlalysis of the data it can be concluded that the understanding of students who learn using the cooperative learning model type think talk write is better than the understanding of mathematical concepts of students who learn using conventional learning.Keywords¾ConceptuaI Understanding, Think Talk Write

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the errors and factors that cause students make mistakes in solving math problems based on the Kastolan stages in the linear program material. This type of research is descriptive. Subject of this research is XI MIPA 7 class of SMAN 3 Padang that six students were interviewed. The results of the research subject tended to commit a) conceptual errors as much as 49% including errors in choosing and applying the formula / concept material prerequisite for linear programming, errors in making mathematical models and the principle of maximum value of the linear program. b) procedural errors as much as 40% including errors in determining steps for completion, incomplete steps, and solutions that do not result in simple changes. c) technical errors as much as 11% of misinformation in the questions and wrong in calculating. These causes are not mastering the material with errors, after solving linear program questions, not reviewing the material, not being confident and not checking the answers. Keywords— Error analysis, Kastolan, Math problems

Abstract

The ability to solve mathematical problems is very necessary for student, because they are must can understand problems, plan mathematical problem solving strategies, solve mathematical problems, and write final answers. The problem solving ability of ninth grade at  junior high school Negeri 24 Padang is still low, because the learning process is teacher-centered. The solution to overcome this problem is to use the discovery learning model. The aim of this research to find out and explain the mathematical problem solving abilities of students whose learning uses the Discovery Learning model. This quasi-experimental research uses Nonequivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. Results data analysis using the t-test obtained a value of  which shows that the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who study with the discovery learning model is superior to those study with the conventional learning model at ninth grade junior high school Negeri 24 Padang.Keywords– Discovery Learning,  Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

Mathematical communication is one of abilities that students should have it in mathematics learning. However, the fact showed that students’ communication ability of XII IPA SMAN 7 Padang were low. Based on observation, it could be concluded that the learning was teacher - centered which caused students learned passively. One of solutions that could be done was applying  cooperative learning model of  TSTS type. This research was both descriptive and quasi experiment with randomized control group pretest - posttest design. Based on analysis, it got that P-value = 0,010, so it can be concluded that students’ who study with TSTS learning model is better than students’ who study with conventional learning. Therefore, students’ mathematical communication ability who study with cooperative learning of TSTS type is better than students’ who study with conventional learning.Keywords– conventional learning, cooperatif learning type TSTS, mathematical communication abilities.

Abstract

The success of a learner in understanding concepts of learning is typically determined by the learning results they achieve. Despite the high final term value assessment of mathematics class X SMAN 2 Sutera 2020/2021, the school is still concerned about the low level of student achievement. One manner to address the problem is to use the realistic mathematical learning module of the mathematical learning process. This study is aimed at documenting the outcomes of students who learned mathematics through realistic educational modules at SMAN 2 Sutera. The type of research being conducted is a pre-experiment designed for the one shot case study. The student is a member of the 2020/2021 class at the X science SMA N 2 Sutera. The instrument used is a mathematical check that may be defined in terms of matter of description, and the data is analyzed by the test sample t. Analysis of the data shows that H0 is rejected is can be concluded that an e-learning module based on realistic mathematical education affect the results that learn with a facts-based learning module are batter than those of prveious learning. Keywords: E-modul, Realistic Math Education, Results from Studying Mathematics

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the level of students' mathematical communication abilities. The type of research used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The stages in this study were divided into the preparation, implementation and analysis stage. The instrument used is a test in the form of essay questions which contain indicators of mathematical communication ability. This research was conducted in class XI IPS MAN 2 Kota Padang. The results showed that the level of mathematical ability in class XI IPS 2 MAN 2 Padang City was low especially in Linear Program material, which is caused by a lack of understanding related to Linear Program.Keywords: Analysis of Student’s Mathematical Ability, Communication Mathematical Ablitiy, Linear Program
