Abstract

Mathematical communication skills is one of the learning objectives that are expected to be achieved optimally by students. However  in reality the mathematical communication skills of studentis still not optimal. This is foundeed in class VIII of SMPN  2Pariaman. One of the  factor is learning that has not been fully able to facilitate student in developing mathematical communication properly. One effort that can be done is by applying the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study is to describe whether the mathematical communication skills of studentwho learn by using the TSTS model is more better than student who learn by conventional learning and describe the development of mathematical communication skills of student during the application of the TSTS model. The type of research  is quasy experiment and descriptive, with a Randomized Control-Group Only Design. This shows that the mathematical communication skills of student who learn by applying the TSTS learning model is more better than the mathematical communication skills of studentwho learn by applying the conventional  learning. Keywords – Cooperative Learning ,Mathematical Communication Skills, Two Stay Two Stray

Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is basically the main goal of the learning process. However, in reality, the mathematical communication skills of class XI students at SMA Negeri 3 Padang are still low. This is seen by analyzing the answers to mathematical communication skills and it is found that students have not been able to solve the problem. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these problems is by applying the Think Talk Write type of cooperative learning model. Abstract

One of the ability needed to help students learn mathematics is mathematical communication ability. However, class VIII students of SMPN 3 Pariaman still have low mathematical communication ability. This is because students' mathematical communication ability have not increased using conventional learning models that have been used so far. The pair check cooperative learning model is considered a model that can overcome this problem. The static group research design was used with a quasi-experimental research type. Simple Random Sampling is used to perform the sampling procedure. Quizzes and tests of mathematical communication ability are the instruments used. T test is then used to test the hypothesis. The results of data analysis show that the P-value is 0.000, which means rejecting H0. Thus it can be concluded that class VIII students of SMPN 3 Pariaman who study with the pair check model are better than conventional learning models. Keywords. – Mathematical Communication Abilities, Cooperative Learning, Pair Check

Abstract

One of the cognitive abilities that is expected to be possessed by students in learning mathematics is understanding of mathematical concepts. However, it seen that the students’ understanding of mathematical concepts is still low, so it needs to be improved. One of learning models to improve the students’ understanding of mathematical concepts is MASTER learning model. Type of this research is quasy experiment with static group design, and also involved two sample classes. The experiment class study by applying MASTER learning model and control class study by applying conventional learning. The data were collected using a mathematical concepts comprehension test, and then analyzed using t test. Based on the results of data analysis, at significant level α = 0,05, obtained P-value = 0,028. P-value ˂ α, so H0 is refused. Hence, it can be concluded that the understanding of mathematical concepts of students that study by MASTER learning model is better than that study by conventional learning. Keywords –Conventional Learning, MASTER Learning Model, Understanding of Mathematical Concept

Abstract

Student error analysis is an important thing to find out student mastery. It turned out that errors were found by students of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 1 Painan in solving polynomial math problems. The purpose of this study is to identify student errors and factors that cause these errors. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative research approach. The data in this study are data from observations, tests, and interviews. The data was analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on the results of the research, the errors made by students include: 1) conceptual error of 30.8%, students cannot define polynomial forms and determine polynomial degrees, 2) procedural error of 42.3%, students wrong in determining the steps to solve problems, 3) technical error of 26, 9%, students make mistakes in accuracy and wrong in calculating the value of arithmetic operations. Keywords — error analysis, kastolan.

Abstract

Matematics Learning result in a SMAN 4 Padang still in the low category because in the learning process teacher don’t activated students finding math draft. The solution is use of the problem based learning with the help learning videos. The study was intended to see there is an effect learning participants who studied with an advanced PBL learning model and a learning video with learners who learned with conventional learning. This kind of research is a quasy experiment and static group design research. The research population is class XI MIPA student in SMAN 4 Padang that register on learn year 2021/2022. Data collection in the study is done using the final test data of the learning tests analysed using the t-test.  Based on the final test  result analysis with minitab software, assistance gained P-value = 0.00 on a real level = 0.05, which states that the learning mathematics student learning with the  Learning problem model  with the help of a learning videos is better than the learning participants with direct learning or conventional learning  in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Padang.      Keywords– The Problem Based Learning, Conventional, Learning Videos ,Mathematics Learning Result

Abstract

Problem solving ability is one aspect that is the main focus of learning. Students use the knowledge they already have to solve the given problem. One way to solve the problem is to use Polya's steps, namely understanding the problem, planning a solution, implementing a settlement plan, and checking again. The low ability of students' mathematical problem solving is caused by the habits of students in solving problems according to what is taught by the teacher and the lack of giving mathematical problem solving questions which results in students lacking skills in solving mathematical problem solving ability questions. Based on these problems, the formulation of the research problem is how the mathematical problem solving abilities of SMP Adabiah Padang students in the material of Triangles and Quadrilaterals are viewed from Polya's steps. This study aims to describe and analyze students' mathematical problem-solving skills using Polya's steps on triangles and quadrilaterals in class VIII SMP Adabiah. This type of research is descriptive in nature, because the research subjects were selected using the target sampling method. Tests and interviews were used as data collection methods, while the analytical methods used in this study were descriptive analysis and data triangulation. As a result, the average score of mathematical problem solving abilities at the problem understanding stage is 0,48, the average score at the calculation planning stage is 0,45, and the average score at the calculation plan implementation stage is 0,37. And 0.18  at the verification step. Therefore, the lowest average score is reviewed in the last step, and the highest average score is taken as the problem understanding step.Keywords– Problem-Solving, Polya's steps, Triangle and rectangular

Abstract

The goal of learning mathematics is to grow problem-solving skills, but in reality, participants' ability to solve mathematical problems remains low. One of the efforts that can be made to overcome the problem is the use of a problem-based learning model. The research method used is quasi experimental research with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is a fundamental skill that all students must master. However, in SMA Negeri 2 Payakumbuh, class XI IPS students' understanding of these concepts is still subpar, and they haven't taken an active part in their education. Think Pair Square (TPSq) cooperative learning is the answer to these issues. This study set out to examine the differences between students in class XI at IPS SMA Negeri 2 Payakumbuh who were taught using a cooperative learning model of the TPSq type and those who were taught using more traditional methods in terms of their grasp of mathematical subjects. This study uses an experimental and descriptive design with a non-equivalent posttest-only control group. P-value is determined through data analysis. 0. 000 obtained H0 is rejected, meaning that students understanding of mathematical concepts taught by the TPSq type of cooperative learning model is better than that taught by conventional learning. Keywords– Understanding Mathematical Concepts, Cooperative learning model TPSq Type, Conventional Learning
