Abstract

Understanding the concept is a basic ability that must be possessed by students in learning mathematics. Low understanding of mathematical concepts will greatly affect student learning outcomes. The application of the Cooperative learning model Numbered Head Together (NHT) type can be applied as an effort to improve understanding of mathematical consepts. The purpose of this research is to describe theoretically whether the cooperative learning model NHT type can improve students’ understanding of mathematical consepts and how the NHT type cooperative learning model NHT type can improve students’ understanding of mathematical consepts. This type of  this research is study of literature where data collection is done by tracing sources related to the topics discussed both from textbooks, journals and other sources. The conclusion of this literature study is theoretically the cooperative learning model NHT type can improve students' understanding of mathematical consepts. The application of NHT learning stages can support learning activities so that it can help improve students' understanding of mathematical consepts which can be seen from the achievement of concept understanding indicators.

Abstract

Geometry is an important material in the mid secondary school curriculum which is still relatively low in performance because pupils still have trouble learning geometry. This study aims to describe the geometrical thinking ability of mid high school pupils based on Van Hiele's thinking stages in terms of gender. This study use descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The research subjects are pupils of class IX.1 at SMP Negeri 1 Lareh Sago Halaban selected by using purposive sampling. Research data were collected through written test and interviews. That test in the form of geometrical ability test of triangle and quadrilateral material and free unstructured interviews. Data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman model, namely activities carried out simultaneously: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion or verification. The results revealed that: (1) the ability to think geometry in junior high school pupils diverse each stage of geometry thinking. (2) Geometry thinking ability of pupils in class IX.1 SMP N 1 Lareh Sago Halaban is 26.92% are at the Pre-visualization stage , 15.38% are at the visualization stage (level 0), 19.24% are at the analysis stage (level 1), there are no pupils who reach stage 2 (informal deduction), and there are 38.46% pupils can not be determined based on Van Hiele's geometry thinking stages. (3) There is no significant differences between of male pupils and female pupils at the geometry thinking ability.Keywords– Thinking stage, Geometrical thinking,. Abstract

The aim of this research was to design teaching matherial of Mathematics based on constructivism that valid, practical, and effective for 8th grade students. Plomp’s development procedure was applied to conduct the study, which covers three stages: Preliminary, Prototyping, Assesment. This research was conducted at SMP NEGERI 1 Padang. The subject was 32 students of class VIIID and the object was teaching matherial of Mathematic. Kind of the data took directly of questionnaire and test. Instrument of collecting data was questionnaire of validity and practicality. The data taken then analyzed by descriptive analysis technique. The teaching matherial of development result have been validated with validation result of RPP was 87,85% (valid) and LKPD was 91,78% (very valid) then practicality result of RPP was 81,33% (practical) and LKPD was 73,33% (practical).Teaching matherial of Mathematic based on constructivism have been successed for facilitate student’s concept constructing proved by 26/32 (81,25%) students passed the final test.Keywords—learning matherial, constructivism, validity, practicallity, affectivism.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze and describe the mathematical communication skills of students who were taught with the pair check type of cooperative learning model and the mathematical communication skills of students who were taught by the pair check type of cooperative learning model and the pair check type of cooperative learning. mathematical communication skills of students who are learning. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research (semi-experimental), with a Static Group Design research design. The population of this research is the students of class X MIPA SMAN 13 Padang who were registered in the 2021/2022. Based on hypothesis testing using t-test, obtained P-value < = 0.05, namely P-value = 0.000. That is, the mathematical communication skills of experimental class students who were taught by the pair check type cooperative learning model were better than the control class taught by conventional learning. Keywords–Pair Check, Conventional Learning, Mathematical Communication Skills

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the purpose in mathematics learning. Understanding of mathematical concepts is the foundation for students to understand mathematics. But infact, Understanding of mathematical concepts  of students at second grade SMPN 13 Padang waslow. It is caused by learning model that used has not facilitated students to develop their Understanding of mathematical concepts.One effort to overcome this problem is by using manipulatives to teach Pythagorean theorem.This manipulative helps students to Understanding of abstract mathematical concepts. The type of research is a pra-experimental design with One Group Pre test-Post test Design. The research hypothesis is carried out by using the paired sample t-test. These results indicate that the ability of students’ understanding mathematical concepts in learning that using manipulatives is better than the ability of students’ understanding mathematical concepts in learning that apply direct learning.                                                                      Keywords – Understanding of mathematical concepts, the use of manipulatives, Direct Learning

Abstract

Problem solving ability is one of the goals of mathematics learning. However, activities learning are not optimal in facilitating students to improve their problem-solving ability. The test result show that the problem-solving ability was still low. One solution to overcome this is Think Talk Write cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Think Talk Write cooperatif learning model on the mathematical problem-solving ability of the VIII. This type of research was a quasi-experiment design with a non-equivalent posttest only group design. The population was all students of class VIII. Sampling was done by random sampling of class VIII.3 as the experimental class and VIII.2 as the control class. The instrument of this research is in the form of a problem-solving ability test. Based on the result of data analysis obtained P-value  where P-value . It can be concluded that the problem-solving ability of students who study with the Think Talk Write cooperative learning model is better than students who learn with the direct learning model in class VIII SMPN 7 Padang. Keywords– Cooperative Learning, Direct Learning, Problem Solving Ability, Think Talk Write.

Abstract

This research has a puspose to develop PBL-based learning tools on topic of mathematics induction in class XI MIPA SMA/MA. This design research uses the Plomp development model which comprise of three stages, first the preliminary research, second the development/prototyping phase and last the assessment phase. In the preliminary research, needs analysis, curriculum analysis, concept analysis and student analysis are carried out in order to obtain the main characteristics of the form of the learning tools being developed. In the development/prototyping phase, a prototype design of learning tools was made in the form of PBL-based lesson plans and PBL-based LKPD for mathematics induction material. The prototype must go through formative evaluation in the form of self-evaluation and expert evaluation to obtain a valid prototype. The last stage is the assessment, this assessment aims to determine the practicality criteria of the LKPD prototype which is carried out after the implementation of an one to one evaluation. This research was carried out when Covid-19 was endemic, so there were several stages of research that could not be carried out properly. Abstract

Problem solving skills in mathematics are crucial. Based on the initial test results of class XII MIPA at SMA Negeri 8 Padang, they are still unable to solve problems correctly according to the indicators. In order to overcome this, the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model was implemented. This study tested whether those taught with the CTL approach can solve math problems better than those taught conventionally. This research used Quasy Experimental Design with Static Group Design. The research population was class XII MIPA SMA Negeri 8 Padang, with samples of classes 1 and 4. The instrument used was a test in the form of essay questions. The t-test data analysis resulted in a P-value = 0.000. Therefore, H0 is rejected. Thus, CTL in class XII MIPA SMA Negeri 8 Padang solves math problems better than ordinary learning.Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Contextual Teaching and Learning, Mathematics

Abstract

One of the goals of mathematics learning is to understand the concepts of mathematics. But in reality, students' understanding of mathematics concept in SMAN 5 Bukittinggi wasn’t optimal, it seen from the results of the test given. The solution was applied strategy of REACT. The purpose of the research was both to describe understanding of mathematics concepts of students who studied with the strategy of REACT and to describe whether understanding of mathematics concepts of students who studied with the strategy of REACT was better than understanding of mathematics concepts of students who studied with direct learning models. The type of research was quasy experiment and descriptive research with the static group design research design. Based on the results of the quiz, tests and hypothesis testing, an increase in understanding the concepts of students is obtained and understanding the concepts of students who learn to use REACT strategy is better than understanding the concepts of students who learn with direct learning models. It can be concluded that the REACT strategy influences understanding of mathematics concepts. Keywords – REACT Learning Strategies, Understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Interactive learning multimedia is a supporting tool in the learning process that is able to activate students to learn with high motivation because of their interest in multimedia systems that present text, image, video, audio and animation displays so that they are more interesting and help visualize topics that are still abstract. The purpose of this research is to develop an interactive learning multimedia for material  of circles that was valid and practical. The type of research used is development research using the Plomp model which consists of a preliminary research stage and a prototype-making stage. The preliminary research phase includes needs analysis, student analysis, curriculum analysis and concept analysis. The prototype stage is the interactive learning multimedia design stage consisting of 1st prototype, 2nd prototype, 3rd prototype, and 4th prototype  which are evaluated using a formative evaluation design. The results of this study indicate that the interactive learning multimedia produced is valid and practical. Keywords – Geometry, Interactive learning multimedia, Plomp, Van hiele theory
