Abstract

Understanding ability of mathematical concept is one of the important goals of mathematics learning.In effort to reach the goals, Understanding abillity of mathematical concept can be developed through a learning process. However, in fact found that understanding ability of mathematics concept students of grade XI IPA SMA Negeri 6 Padang is still low. The solution to solve the problem above is to apply cooperative learning model type Team Assisted Individualization. The type of this research is quasy experiment with static group design research design. Population in this research is student of grade XI IPA and the samples are grade XI IPA 5 as experiment class and grade XI IPA 4 as control class. Instrument used in this research is final test of understanding of mathematics concepts student. The result of this research shows that understanding ability of mathematicalconcept student which study with cooperative learning model type Team Assisted Individualization is better than the ability of understanding concepts mathematics student that study with conventional learning in grade XI IPA SMA Negeri 6 Padang.Keywords–understanding ability of mathematical concept, cooperative learning type Team Assisted Individualization, conventional learning

Abstract

This study aims to develop and produce student worksheets based on the PMRI approach on the subject of Pythagorean theorem valid and practical . The development model used in this study is the Plomp model developed by Tjeerd Plomp which consists of three phases, namely preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. the preliminary research stage is carried out with the aim of knowing the design and characteristics of the student worksheets that will be developed. This phase is carried out in several stages, namely requirements analysis, curriculum analysis, concept analysis and student analysis. at the prototyping phase, the design of the Student Worksheet based on the PMRI approach was carried out according to the results of the preliminary research. Then a formative evaluation was carried out which consisted of self evaluation, expert review, one to one evaluation, and small group evaluation. The product was tested on VIII gradestudents of VIII SMPN 1 Gunung Talang . This study resulted in student worksheets based on the PMRI approach on the subject of the Pythagorean theorem with an validity value of 83.25% with a very valid category and an practicality value of 89.74% in a very practical category. Keywords– PMRI, Student Worksheets, Pythagorean Theorem

Abstract

The ability of understanding mathematical concepts is one of the basic capabilities that should be owned by every learner in the learning of mathematics. There is the fact that the understanding of the concept of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 9 Pariaman is still low. It is because the learning process is centered on teachers. To overcome this, teachers need to apply the learning model that facilitates students in understanding a concept being taught with their own knowledge. Learning Model that can be used is Cooperative Learning type Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS). This research type is research of quasi-experimental design with Static Group Design. Based on the analysis of data using t-test obtained P-value=0,015 < α=0.05, so it can be concluded that the ability of understanding the concept of students who studied using Cooperative learning model Learning type TSTS better than the students who learn using conventional learning. Keywords–Cooperative Learning, Two Stay Two Stray, Mathematical Concepts, Conventional Learning.

Abstract

Indonesia in participating in assessing student’s literacy and numeracy abilities obtained unsatisfactory results. The level of literacy ability of students is still said to be low. So that the PISA report is used as a basis for improving the curriculum in Indonesia, where (Pratiwi (2019:51)) reveals that the PISA program greatly impacts changes in the Indonesian curriculum. Therefore, theacers are required to be creative in announcing learning that involves the active participation of students. In general, the teaching materials used by teachers and students in learning are in the form of worksheets that were not designed by the teacher himself. The problem-based learning module discusses learning material based on objects that are presented contextually. The type of research used is research and development (R&D). Where the aim is that from this research a module can e developed that can improve student’s literacy skills. The validity of the learning module gets a value of 83,34%, which concludes that the module is valid from all aspects of validity that has been compiled so that it is good to use or try out on students. Then, after being tried out this module was assessed for practicality with a value 88,06% so it was also concluded that this module was very practical and feasible to use. So, in the end this module as a vaid and practical module.Keywrods –Module, PBL, Practicality, Validity

Abstract

This study is to determine the effect of mathematical disposition on mathematical communication skills of students in class XI IPS MAN 1 Padang City. The type of research used is ex-post facto research. The population in this study were students of class XI social studies MAN 1 Padang City in the academic year 2023/2024 totaling 72 students. The instruments used in this study were mathematical disposition questionnaire and mathematical communication ability test.  Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis with simple linear regression.  Based on the results of descriptive analysis, it is known that most students have poor mathematical ability.  Regarding students' mathematical communication skills, the results obtained were 19.44% in the "good" category, 25% in the "sufficient" category, 26.39% in the "less" category, and 27.78% in the "very less" category.  The results of inferential statistical analysis showed that there was an influence between mathematical disposition on the mathematical communication skills of students in class XI IPS MAN 1 Padang City in the 2023/2024 school year. This is evidenced by the large p-value <0.05, or p-value = 0.000.  Mathematics affects mathematical communication skills by 50.55%, while the remaining 49.45% is influenced by other variables outside the study.Keywords: Influence, Mathematical Disposition, Mathematical Communication Ability

Abstract

The ability of mathematical problem solving is one of the mathematics learning objectives to be achieved and evolved by learners itself. However, the students’ ability of mathematical problem solving are still not optimal and do not facilitated yet for improving those skills well. One of the efforts to improve the ability of mathematical problem solving is to apply Group Investigation (GI) learning model, aims to describe whether the learners’ ability of mathematical problem solving with GI model is better than learners’ ability of mathematical problem solving with direct learning. The type of research is quasi experiment with The Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design.The authentication of the research hypotheses using t-test. Based on the analysis data concluded that the students’ability of mathematical problem solving who is applying group investigation model is better than the students’ ability of mathematical problem solving with direct learning.                                         Keywords–Mathematical Problem Solving, Group Investigation, Direct Learning

Abstract

Having mathematical communication ability is one of the purposes of mathematical learning. In fact, a 7th-grade student at SMPN 33 Padang is still low. In addition to the lack of interest the learners have in learning. It takes effort to address this problem, one way to apply the cooperative learning type Think Pair Square in the study. The purpose of this study to know and describe the impact of application of this model shows the capability of mathematical communication grade VII SMPN 33 Padang. A pra-experimental of one shot case study. Selection of subject class with a purposive sampling technique by defined class VII.1 as a subject class. The result of the test of the subject's class mathematical communication capability after the application of this model is categorized well. Abstract

Students should learn effective arithmetic problem-solving techniques as one of their learning objectives in mathematics. Nonetheless, pupils still have a limited capacity for solving mathematical puzzles. Learning methods that use problem-based learning (PBL) are one way to help students get better at solving problems. This study aims to compare the problem-solving skills of students who learn using a problem-based learning model with those of students who learn using direct instruction. It also aims to describe how students' mathematical problem-solving skills develop when they apply a problem-based learning learning model in class XI MIPA SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. This sort of study uses a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only grouping that is not equivalent.Students in class XI MIPA SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang in yhe academic year 2022–2023 make up this population, with class XI MIPA 3 serving as the experimental class and XI MIPA 2 serving as the control class. Research data was gathered by testing and quizzing students on their problem-solving skills. Based on the average score and the proportion of students who scored well on each indication, the value data quiz was analyzed. Abstract

Mathematics demands mathematical communication skills to express ideas appropriately. Mathematical communication skills remain poor. According to observations. The Think Pair Share cooperative learning methodology with animated video was chosen. Mathematical communication abilities were examined better utilizing the Think Pair Share video animation model than a direct model in class XII IPS SMA Negeri 1 Payakumbuh. Study employed Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Sampling was random. Experimental and control classes were XII IPS 1 and 2. The research hypothesis was supported by Mann-Whitney. The P-value from data analysis is 0,022. H0 was rejected due to a P-value .
